A-tech, in a nutshell, can be explained like this: Charge a Mini-turbo. When you let go of L/R, let go of A as well. Press A after the mini-turbo dies out. Congratulations, you just performed A-tech!
That would be the nutshell in a nutshell version, but executing it properly, all the different variations, and how it affects your trajectory are all things that are not explained by that :D So at the time since I didn't have enough knowledge, I decided not to go indepth about it I might one day though :d
if only i knew how to consistently mt there are very often times where no matter how many times I flick the joystick in the opposite direction, the boosts do not activate
www.mariokart64.com/mkdd/standardc.php Here you go. It's a good way to determine which track to improve next. (If you still have a 18 score on some track but are on 15 scores on others, try the one with the higher scores!)
Mini turbo buildup is getting more consistent for me with practice, but I heard that using both the regular grey stick AND c stick builds it faster? Is this true, or is that something that doesn’t matter? Thanks
I’ve been playing this game for years, and I guess I can say I’m expert, but I’ve yet to master A tech. I’ve played against many, and have only met a handful of people who can legitimately beat me. After this I’ll be unstoppable lol
Thank you for this video, I picked up Double Dash and instantly fell in love with how snaking feels in this game but didn't know where to start. It's amazing just how much depth there is to it compared to MKDS's mindless MT spamming.
When I MT, sometimes the game forces me off the skid, as if I lifted my finger off the R button when I didn’t. Is this a problem with my controller, or with my technique (e.g. with how I tilt my analog stick)?
4:25 you mention a spacing video that is linked in the description, but I couldn’t find one, is there any good spacing videos that I could watch? Thanks!, and great video/ series
Amazing tutorial series! This has helped me so much. Something I still am struggling with - it's not clear to me how to successfully chain sideways boosts like in the example for Luigi circuit, where I think you chain 4 around the long hairpins. It's not clear to me what is supposed to happen after I release the first R - how and when to start the next drift. I always seem to either turn too severely into the wall, or I don't start the drift off successfully and it starts drifting in the wrong direction. Is this something you can clear up in the comments?
You want to keep holding towards the inside of the corner (so in luigis long hairpin corner, left) all the way to start a new MT while keeping the control stick at the same spot. Be sure to space out the MTs and give them room (aka space) to work :)
Thanks Goomba! I just saw summoning salt's video on dd shortcuts and instantly loved how the game looked to function I really want to start speedrunning all cups and this is a great place to start, thanks again!
with co-op, after the driver starts a drift, your co-op partner will have to do the charging! It still works the same way, but there's not a frame limit on how quick you can charge the miniturbo, which means you can charge them as fast as possible So generally the "best strat" is to give your co-op partner a controller you don't mind breaking and just wiggling the crap out of the stick from left to right as fast as possible :P
@@GoombaNL So, I start a drift with the left shoulder button and then they finish it with the control stick, is this correct? The back player can also punch other players to steal items from them using the drift button, right? Finally, the way to switch positions in multiplayer is if we BOTH press Z at the same time, right?
RIP annotations.

You deserve far more channel views and subs that you currently have.

“basics of the basics” _doesn't explain how he even got that car_
I mean do I have to explain eeeeeverything? :^)
Fair enough, should be winning star cup 150cc :p
I just got Double Dash, and I must say it's different from MKW in terms of the boost start and feel to the game
I'm trying but still struggling, thank you though!
every time he says MT it sounds like ‘empty’
This is an awesome resource, thanks man.
if only i knew how to consistently mt
there are very often times where no matter how many times I flick the joystick in the opposite direction, the boosts do not activate
Try doing it slower until it is consistent, then speed it up. Make sure it has some time to register both neutral (middle) and that opposite side :)
@GoombaNL thank you for this! I was having the same issue. I will work on my MTs first and drifting and then speed it up gradually. Thanks!
awesome video, thanks :)
At 4:26 what video on spacing did you say you’d link? I don’t see it.
Your talking style reminds me a little of Kimi Raikönnen
Hahahha bwoah
I'll take it
Do you think it's better to learn the tracks without MB/drifting first, or should this technique be used from the start?
Definitely use drifting, but always prioritize being able to control your kart and focus on lines over forcing out Mini Turbos :)
Where can i find the time requirements for the different rankings?
www.mariokart64.com/mkdd/standardc.php
Here you go. It's a good way to determine which track to improve next. (If you still have a 18 score on some track but are on 15 scores on others, try the one with the higher scores!)

So that's why I fall off of wario stadium's sharp left turn every time. Shame on me for boosting in the same direction I'm turning. Fml
You should add timestamps
Thanks for the suggestion! Just added them
@@GoombaNL no problem, thanks for making a solid tutorial
What are the controls to throw an item backwards?
Very nice video btw, helped me a lot!
Hold down on the control stick as you throw the item :) and thanks!
Just bought this game about a month ago and playing for the first time on gamecube and im getting my ass handed to me 😅
Hahah no worries, once you get the hang of drifting and it clicks you'll be the one destroying :p
Great vid and explanations A tech for me though still is pretty impossible tho haha
My emulator only runs full speed in 150cc but anyway I really haven’t played this until now and I need to get better
2022?

Nah someone pranked you lol, c stick is useless
Is bullet car notably worse than barrel train? Same speed rating but higher acceleration
In game stats arent really accurate :p bullet's decent, but very bouncy and lower overall speed
@@GoombaNL thanks
need this tutorial in spanish XD

Hey, i've trouble with mid-air MTs, do you have some tips to help me please?
It's really timing based, but most of the time comes down to doing it quickly after the middle of the jump
Just have a last question: Do i need to press R without any direction just before the jump to get the mid-air MT or not?
press R with any direction, most of the time in the direction of the next MT
Ok thanks for helping :)

I wouldn't call it mindless

IF i want to drift i need to go to wider lines how do you do that on such a tight place without going too far out on straight lines?
When you're ready to boost, hold the joystick towards the corner then boost, right after slowly start drifting away
What was that video you were going to link in the description? 4:24
