I've read too much doujin, but honestly you're right. So many NTR stories tried to leave the cucked protag in an either unknowing state or broken and depressed all the time. Not every story has this ending of the protag trying to get better in life, it just feels so improgressive.
Here's the worst part: I read Rental Girlfriend's first few chapters. It's literally a journey of a cucked protagonist trying to get back into his normal life after his ex cheated on him through gf-renting app, and at the end he really changed his mind and grew to be a better man.
