Hi Shane ... Great video as always ! ... The major caveat and, for me a gating issue when it comes to UST projectors is that lack of a zoom functionality and/or the ability to switch between 16:9 & 2.35:1 content when using a constant image height screen ... Given that this projector supports 16:9 and 4:3 I would hope that the ability to project in 2.35:1 cannot be beyond the wit of BenQ, as well as other manufacturers.
Always nice when Elias brings his insights to gaming especially when he is wearing such a magnificent timepiece. Thanks Shane for focusing in on that heirloom quality watch from the Omega " No Time to Die" collection
I wonder when / if an ultra short throw projector will rival the high end standard throw projectors, surely being so close to the screen physically coud yeild some brightness benefits, if they could make it happen it would be an interesting alternative..
yep , please upgrade via software to have a gaming mode, doesn't have to be the highest level but at least a game mode, will definitely buy, if they do it, really rate Benq, thanks for the video
Hi! I have the bengq v7050i and a als screen, the projector and screen is aligned but the right side of the screen is a lite bit blurry, what can be the problem? Thanks in advance! Much love frome Sweden.
Seems like a glaring omission with the lack of a game mode. I just need good enough latency to be usable with 30-40ms being reasonable as I'm guessing this is more in the 60-80ms range. Hell if they're worried about picture quality getting too bad just give different modes so you can choose between best picture (higher lag) and lowest latency (worst picture) and maybe an in-between setting. Add that and assuming I don't buy another tv and this might be my next projector. Really like that it comes in black (unlike the P2) and the price is pretty solid for what you get.
This BenQ projector dongle, does not have Netflix app which maybe a deal breaker. Can I use other stream devices instead of supplied Android TV dongle and keep the ARC for soundbar/receiver?
Would have been nice to see the 3d capabilities as this is a huge factor for me when selecting a short throw unit. Thanks for the great review otherwise, really appreciate it.
The only thing I can afford from this video is that fan from 17:19 and it's because I have that model too 😅 Great review, but I was hoping you to cover the quality of 3D
Anyone ever get how much time it takes for this projector to go from fully closed to image on screen is on and bright enough to see? It looks like the cover takes about 10 seconds to fully open. How long till the laser turns on and hits full brightness? Kinda spoiled by the "instant on" of the Viewsonic X100 and X10 projectors that immediately power on.
Still waiting for one of these to come out with some speaker wire inputs so the projector speakers can be used as a center channel. As it is, these sit out in front of where my center channel is. So can't buy one of these.
I own the Samsung lsp7t short throw an bought a high enough Stand with acousticly transparent doors so the center channel is underneath it, not exactly perfect but it works pretty damn well, stand was from BDI pretty expensive but only way I could figure out how to make it work!
@@rickdiculuss6049 Unfortunately my setup, the stand can not be higher than 2 ft because the screen cant go any higher. And my receiver is where a Speaker could go but then it would be too low and far away from the screen. No way to put behind the screen because it's on the wall and I rent. I just think these kinds of projectors, they have speakers in the front, they look like a center channel speaker.. it just makes so much sense to make them so the option is there to use as a center channel with a A/V unit.
Ya agreed that being able to use as a center channel would be a good idea, but also if your hard-core about it your gonna want a real center channel speaker compared to the small speakers built in, also to have a timbre matched front Soundstage is ideal! Hopefully they can keep improving these projectors!

I have the same question. Almost seems impossible to get a comparison between these UST projectors and the standard throw projectors, even tho they are in the same price range. Starting to make me think that it is because it’s taken as obvious that the UST are not as good as far as image quality.

I also have the LS500. It is a good projector but the disadvantage is the large distance to the screen and the poor appearance. The black values could be better and it is not quite as sharp as a DLP projector, but the Epson Super Resolution brings out the best. Laser on 50% and you hardly hear it at all. Advantage no rainbow effect.

Appreciate the review. Is this projector capable of using a sound bar that has Dolby Atmos with it?
If I purchase a used one, can the seller reset the light usage time?

Looks pretty good man, do you find it sitting better on the vividstorm screen or the elitescreen?
Same. The edges curve inwards so you need to make it smaller than the actual screen.
What's your opinion on the Hisense laser tv in comparison, the value of the Hisense makes me consider it. Especially since it comes with a screen.
They are supposed to have tri laser technology in their new model coming out in September too.
