I've been following the Dawlish sea wall saga from Australia since before the Wavewalker days and must say it's one of the most impressive engineering stories I've seen. Congratulations to all involved in the work and for recording it so well for the enlightenment of someone who's never likely to see Dawlish in the "flesh" but is a Brunel and Broad Gauge fan from way back.
Me too! Congrats from Adelaide, South Australia 🌹
I visit my daughter in nearby Newton Abbot. The train from Newcastle takes six and a half hours and the best bit is the last 20 minutes from Exeter. I look forward to seeing more progress during the Christmas visit. Excellent series of videos with appropriate dramatic music. Well done and thank you.
Agree, the journey between Exeter and Newton Abbott is one of the best railway journeys in the country, particularly the parts that hug the sea through Starcross and Dawlish.
Thank you Neil for your camerawork and also thank you Jack and the magnificent team for your excellent commentaries and hard work.
That was worth watching, thank you.
Love the rock pools.
Congratulations to the guys who've been working in all weathers to accomplish this.
Great video. Extremely well crafted. (Take note HS2) Dawlish should be immensely proud of Jack and the boys. Impressive engineer feat.
Fantastic project guys! Great to see it unfolding in front of our eyes - and all the nuances explained.
Magnificent! Isambard Kingdom Brunel would be proud of every one of you. And thank you for entertaining and educating me throughout the whole process. 👏👏👏
Fantastic job boys, well done. Great bit of filming. 10/10⭐️
The lads are right to be proud. Look at that work of art. I shall miss this series once the work is done, btw. It's becomes a part of my life. Weird as it sounds.
Thank you for bringing Dawlish to us. Such a beautiful part of the world!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love Dawlish, I love the Brook and I love following rivers from source to sea...this is my ideal video 😍...
Brunel would be impressed...well done all!
Wonderful job jack and the guys you should be all proud of your hard work!
Yes well done BAM and the boys and well done for documenting it so well. History that'll be
Excellent communication and teamwork.
Very interesting series of vlogs, thank you.
All of Dawlish should feel gratitude and pride to see this momentous job coming to completion! Thank you for keeping us updated with great videos and thanks to Jack and his boys !
Absolutely!
These videos have really changed a "When are they going to finish?" question into a beautiful journey of engineering marvel.
I can see teachers in Dawlish schools wanting to use these videos to encourge young boys and girls to go off and build other engineering marvels that will protect other parts of the coastline or help us combat climate change.
As always, a great video. Nice to see the works progressing well down there in Dawlish
Watch all the work from the Begin well done everyone who worked so hard on it all up to date ..Well Done Neil on all your videos really injoyed everyone of them thank you looking forward to more too 😀👍👍👍
Well done indeed what a great job by a great team and a big thanks for all the Dawlish beach cams coverage it has been really interesting. Many thanks to everyone.
Our pleasure!
What a highlight for a Saturday morning love the rock pools idea a great touch
Absolutely fantastic 👏🏻
Rarely comment, but watch all of these vids . Quality British engineering, i would suggest that Brunel would approve.
Thanks Paul.
Not the usual sort of video you have been doing for this, but it was really beautiful.
You have made both Dawlish and BAM look awesome with these videos.
Got a question for Jack: As the sea was let in and the brook waters were flowing out, I could see some metal bits, at the end of the outlet, where it looks like BAM have not quite finished the outlet channel. So my question is this: Why didn't BAM leave the diversion in place and finish whatever needs o be done there, so their engineers don't have to fight the brook to do that later?
Well done guys xx
Fantastic work all...
Fabulous! (I’ve been waiting so long for this!) we’ll done and thank you BCM!
My pleasure!
Brilliant what a fantastic job, it's all fantastic 👍👍👍
Many thanks!
Thanks Jack for another great coverage of our new frontage to Dawlish.
Hope the vioduct get painted soon.
Will there be any space to keep the painting up on it ?
Can't wait to walk on all of it.
Well done to the team.
Wonderful job by all.
Thanks Karen.
Been an interesting journey. Nice one folks!
Great watch 👍
Thank you 👍
Great video again not long enough
Amazing such an achievement 👍👍🤗
I have been following this all the way through. Bam Nuttall have made a brilliant job of the entire project. Well done.
Just one thing, I wish GWR would replace the viaduct, it is old and rusty and spoils the look of all the new work.
Excellent job done in difficult conditions
It is amazing Well done lads!
Looking forward to seeing completion and the temporary bund removed with the beach restored and people enjoying it. Hopefully we will not see a construction of this magnitude needed again in the lifetime of the young residents and holidaying people in Dawlish.
What a wonderful idea the rock pools are!
Indeed Phil.
The new sea wall is a massive improvement so I disagree with the previous poster. You can't please all of the people all of the time but in my view BAM, the designers et al have done a fantastic job as has beach cam man in keeping us all informed.
The new sea wall at coastguards is already beginning to weather. Is this weathering going as expected and will the whole sea wall discolour in due course?
All the rubber joins are falling into the sea on main beach
I can watch mechanical machines at work for hours.
The concrete may not be to everyone's liking but in years to come it will look more natural.
Why has the brook been rediverted when there is clearly still lots of exposed re-bar showing, surely it would have been easier to finish the concrete before the tide was let back in?
Wham bam jacks the man ❤
Nice Job
Thanks!
Everything shiny and new, until the view widens and you see those rusty bridge, some paint can work wonders.
There will be another footbridge in front of the viaduct on this side.
Shudda called 617 Sq. ....the dam busters🤔🤔😉
the new sea wall might be an 'eyesore' but I see it as a nesecary evil, if they weren't putting this in it would only be a matter of time before the line got washed away again. It's really impressive just how they've maged to get this built in all weathers and conditions!
lt's not big brother digger! It's Daddy digger, Mummy digger and baby digger!
That would be fun, watching diggers mating, no offence intended to any Aussies reading.
I know it needs to be done. But its such a shame that Dawlish is going to be just another incredibly ugly sea wall. Capitalist solutions are always hideous.
blaring music spoilt this vidio
