Your reviews have made me read books that I would have never have read and so many have been amazing!
I loved this book. It stays with you long after you read the last page. I stayed up late finishing it. When I finished it at 1am, I kept thinking about it. When I slept, I dreamed about it. When I woke up I still was thinking about it. That is a good book to me. It made an impact.
The writing was absolutely beautiful. It is hard to describe but it's just silky and smooth and so poetic.
A book that successfully talks about the meaning of life, what love means to you, the power of relationships, regret, loss, time, letting go, and leaving your mark is quite impressive.
This definitely will be a re-read for me and I loved it so much that I am going to immediately listen to the GOAT of audiobook narration (Julia Whelan) narrate this beautiful, beautiful book.
Looking forward to more reviews on your channel soon!

Oh Julia Whelan absolutely kills the narration. I can still hear Luc’s “Adeline” 🥲

@@nikkisbooknook I can't wait!!! I am excited to hear that line about him wanting to be the one that breaks her 😬.
I'm having a hard time deciding at the moment which guy's voice is my favorite of hers so far... it's a tie between Brock McKnight/Nik Sullivan, Charlie Lastra, and Wyn Connor 💕.

@@nikkisbooknookOMG I just finished listening to it. It was a whole different experience to listen to after reading it. Luc's voice was chef's kiss! Julia Whelan is just the freaking best.

Just finished this book and it wrecked me in the best way. I felt for Henry, and I’m happy with how his story ended. For a while I thought maybe he was an angel or something along those lines and that’s why he remembered Addie. He was beyond what Luc/the devil could see but I actually loved that it was opposite that. It’s very much a Persephone/hades story but Persephone wants her revenge but I think she actually likes it. I’m already wanting to read it again

the “god” is actually death personified im not sure how you didn’t pick that up as she mentions it MANY times in the book and it’s apart of the main plot line

LUC ALLLLLL THE WAY! I dunno, Luc is one of those sociopathic unstable characters that you can't help but love despite their nature. I believe Adeline would have eventually grown bored with Henry. He's a good guy but there's no fire to him. No wonder and that sort of dominance that would have challenged Adeline and make her feel alive. Luc does that. I love how their relationship was just hate at first but overtime they develop this bond, this championship and fire that neither could get anywhere else. Yes, you're right in saying they bring out the best (and worse) in each other but for them it works.

I, too, do not gravitate toward books because of the hype that comes with them. I read this book as part of our channel's Roundtable Read, where the contributors and I selected a book to read and either review or discuss and after a vote, we read this one. At the moment, among the 9 contributors that read the book, 6 liked it and 3 did not and I was among those that did not like the book. It is interesting that you saw a lot in the characters within this piece. I agree that one's life should be spent the way that they wish and there was a lot of promise in what could have been. Unfortunately, we spend more time in the present day and aside from the immediate day or so after the deal is made with Luc, any visit to the past has to do with their interactions with one another rather than the amazing adventures she has taken with her immortality. In that case, she did not have to do too much research about the places aside from the places that have a greater amount of concentration. I agree that she should have not been forced to marry Roger, but I did not like the explanation she gave, concentrating more on his physical appearance rather than how unfamiliar she was with him or how he did not present himself well to her. It made her shallower as a character. I preferred Henry to Luc, because I felt that he possessed relatable character traits and how a lot of people feel as if they are in the same situation as he is. I can see Luc's merit as an antagonist but was still not too fond of him and obsessed the way that some people are with Harry Potter characters such as Snape or Draco Malfoy. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! -Josh

If you loved Luke, I think you’d love the darkling from the geisha verse. He’s a villain with a just cause who went about it in the wrong way and the main character and him have like a very tension filled pull and push situation going on. Do give it a try! I’d love to hear about it❤

OMG!! The book within a book thing GOT 👏🏻 ME!!! 👏🏻I literally set the book down, like “am I on a hidden camera rn ?!” 😂And then flew to the front of the book, to read the dedication pg to see if it said “I remember you” -that was a missed opportunity, lol. I would’ve lost it if it had!! 🙈
I felt mixed about the ending: (I saw it coming that she would sacrifice herself for Henry) Some part of me was glad she ended up with Luc (the man _was_ delicious) but it also sort of seemed like she still existed in the real world and therefore maybe could’ve sought henry out again on some level(??) if she really wanted to? Like I wonder what the fine print was of her curse.. how close could she get to him again? And/or what would happen if she tried?
I also wondered about her escape plan for Luc.. could she be successful in driving him mad enough to make him cast her off? Wouldn’t he figure out her endgame? Also what does their relationship even look like? They were all tension and passion for so long, now that they’re officially together and the chase is over, what do their days and conversations look like? Surely not about babies and bills, lol? Does she assist him in the reaping business?
I also wondered about Lucs obsession with Addie..what made her different from any other deal-like why did he feel she was “made for him”. Actually he said it so much that I kept waiting for it to unfold as some plot twist. Everyone else was just a soul to collect.. what made Addie different? (..other than it being crucial to the story line, of course)
Idk, I adored the whole thing and I’m so unbelievably sad and hungover now that I’m done, but I also feel like I came away with a lot more questions but hopeful that everything and everyone was ok in the end..
Love finally getting to come back to one of your videos to watch the review with spoilers side ❤
