Cycling in stiff soled carbon shoes for thirty years. While gentle cycling might not put much pressure on the balls of your feet, competitive cycling does. Getting better though!

The cause: high heels and running.
The solution: high heeled running shoes.
      Please clarify.

I discovered exercising on an elliptical machine put too much pressure on the ball of my foot and I had too narrow of shoes. My toes would go numb and then I would have pain for the next few days. I stopped using the elliptical all together and my feet are so much better.

Cause: Wearing running shoes that do not conform to the natural shape of the forefoot. ALL of them taper in and become too pointed in the toebox! I've even ordered XX Wide and they are still to tight in toebox. Top brands: Brooks, New Balance, Asics, they all follow this pointed toe trend that caused my Morton's Neuroma.

Thank you. I work in a factory and trucks. This will help. I work 12 hour shifts. And by the fourth day I am in pain. Also take a supplement call bone and ligament. A slow release B complex. And excedrin also helps with the pain.

As an ice / inline skater, the ball of the foot gets a lot of pressure. I found metatarsal domes to be the solution. I use three cotton pads with cuts on the bottom to make a triangle with one round edge (to contour the ball of the foot) then tape it below the insole.

Wouldn't a lower drop shoe be better than a higher drop since a higher heel means your shoe is putting more forefoot pressure? This is why some girls get mortons neuroma from wearing high heels. More pressure on the ball of foot. Please clarify, thx!

Thank you so much for this! I never wear high heels and don’t do high impact sports. My podiatrist just diagnosed this. One more thing to deal with along with posterior tibial tendonitis. I’m trying to avoid surgery so hopefully the orthotics and icing help. Thanks again for your incredibly helpful videos!!

What should i do about a Stump Neuroma?

  • @sl2608

Is a stiff or soft sole shoe recommended for Morton's Neuroma? I recently started wearing Orthofeet sneakers to treat this condition. They have a lot of cushion but I wonder if more stiffness in the sole is needed. What do you think of using Carbon Fiber inserts in shoes to treat Morton's Neuroma? Would appreciate your thoughts. I don't want to try it if it will make the problem worse. Thanks!

I have this very painful condition due to a broken foot last year. I’ve had two injections, one under ultrasound.none have worked. I’ve used ice. I’ve got podiatrist orthotics. Brought boots one size bigger and wider.it’s making me miserable.

i literally only wore heels for approx 4 hours and then maybe on and off for an hour the next 2 days and all of a sudden i felt the tingling in my toes. It's been about a month and it hasnt totally gone away (there is VERY SLIGHT tingling...like barley even noticeable at this point and it isn't painful or affecting my ADLs). I'm just scared if I don't get this checked out it could get worse. Any advice? please help!

Doc thanks so much for this video!! How long do you recommend wearing the boot for? And, what's the average healing time for this condition if we take conservative measures? (Shoe change, pads, inserts, ice, etc.)

Hi thx for your video. It’s about my current search for answers. I’ve been struggling with a Morten’s Neuroma injury. I walk/run about km30-50 per day. The only shoe that has worked for me this year is my zero drop Altra Paradigm 6 I’ve bought and sold Nike Pegasus 38 and Hoka Challenger 6 as they made walking impossible but I’m now wondering if a softer foam and more stack height is better to absorb the impacted like the 30-33mm stack height Ego Max from the P6 or Via Olympus or is the Ego foam and 25mm stack height from the Lone Peak, Rivera or Escalante better combined with my custom made orthopedic inner soles. I am scheduled for that operation but my foot is getting better and I just feel like I prefer to manage my foot pain over gotten a operation which only has a 50/50 success rate. I don’t want to end up with more pain if my op is not a success. I mean if I can walk/run now km30 per day it’s not to bad and I’m sure the right shoes would further aid my recovery and or make it more manageable. Thx for your opinion and reply. And have a blessed Xmas

Would hyprocure help relieve the underlying mechanical cause? I have four neuromas. 6mm in the third toe space in each foot, and 4mm in the second toe space in each foot. Happened in July shortly after I was on a ladder for two hours trimming tall shrubs while wearing flip flops. I have extremely high arches so the pressure on the balls of my feet is unusually intense.

I didn't see an invideo link for exercises for MN?

    • @DrTomBiernacki
      @DrTomBiernacki  4 года назад

Unfortunately there are not many proven Morton's neuroma exercises, at the end of the day it is a bruised region with too much pressure, not a tight joint. The real focus should be on offloading it and then later stretching and strengthening your lower extremity.

Can you tell me please…I ordered the PowerStep with metatarsal support and they are size 10-10.5. I wear a size 10 sneaker and bought the black sneakers you recommended. I had to get a men’s 9.5 wide because the women’s wasn’t wide enough. The orthotics are a little bit longer than my foot so the metatarsal part of the orthotic it’s almost in the middle of my foot instead of higher up. I did pull out a really old pair of custom orthotics with the metatarsal support that I bought back in 2014 and clearly the custom compared to the powerstep are definitely in two different places. Am I causing more harm than good and should I be getting custom orthotics? The sneakers are wonderful but they are definitely bigger being men’s but I need the width so I have to get used to those. Thank you

We know you want a more detailed response, and believe us if allowed we would love to give more specific information.
Unfortunately we have to let you know how important it is to see your podiatrist in person to get a more detailed response.
There are just so many variables and risks for giving information without a proper physical exam in person.
Good luck and we hope you feel better soon. We really appreciate you as a fan.
