I rate this man sooo much! You can tell its difficult for him to say what he really feels, but he did it anyway and in an open intelligent way and in doing so he was able to let his (male) guard down. A lot a men need to take a page out of his book for real, respect to him

What genuinely nice people. Seems to me it was a bit of the age old ‘if you love them let them go’ with regards to her going away, but he didn’t communicate how he really felt & she didn’t tell him how hurt she felt with how easy he let her go.
They’re young, & were even younger back then.. it’s always to do with lack of communication. Talk! Really good advice to all of you out there, just talk it out.

I agree it wasn't a test... She was living her life, and he treated her casual like it was a disposable relationship.. Niether pursued a continued friendship. He even said maybe he was avoiding it. Emotional honesty would save most relationships.

She's super pretty. He is saying all the right things. Because on paper what he says works. He wanted her to live her life. But that's also the best excuse to dump a girl u r not serious about. Happened to a friend of mine. The girl left to travel around the world. He couldn't care less. Actually told her that he wouldn't restrict her. He married a girl he met only twice through an arranged marriage two months later. His parents didn't even know he had dated a black girl until his friends told his uber religious Muslim mother.
She has incredible bone structure. She is still young, go travel and live a little.

It seems to me that mim shut down emotionally. It may be the way she delivered the news of the trip, how much compassion she had for his feelings has a lot to do with the trip he took to his man's cave.
Seeing the reaction he had, she became confused and emotionally shut down as well.
There was a complete breakdown of communication, he felt hurt and no longer looked for a way to reinitiate communication with her, she also felt hurt and did not try to communicate with him either.
It would be interesting to know which of the two initiated the reunion.

There is NOTHING wrong with either party in a relationship wanting to be desired or wanted. He clearly came across as disinterested when she told him she was going away to travel, & showed no interest in wanting to continue long distance despite the fact he’d have loved to do exactly that. All she wanted was for him to express how he was feeling. It was a complete breakdown in communication. How on Earth you got to the conclusion she was manipulating him .. I don’t know!

I don't know... the fact that he didn't get up until he got what he wanted says so much... Communication means nothing without comprehension... But the actions taken mean so much more. He could have reached out before, it's all for show, he doesn't seem very genuine IMO
