I have had requests to show the development process of Black and White film, this video covers, in detail, all you need to know, I also show how I captured the picture with my 4x5 field camera and the resultant negative for development. Rather than split this image into two separate ones, I decided to keep it as one video to keep the as I call it the flow going from capture to final image, its 45 mins long and hopefully it will keep you interested for that time.

Brilliant. I've developed roll film before, but never sheet film. My biggest two issues were temperature (I was in Afghanistan and Thailand) and keeping the negatives clean. I have three 4x5 press cameras I never used in part because I didn't know how I would send them for developing. I think I'll just do it myself now. When I get back to Texas I will try. Thanks. I'll bookmark this.
Very nice and detailed presentation. I am sure the newbies would find this useful. Would you agree that for a novice, a developer such as Ilford ID11 or Kodak's D76 is a good way to start ?

Always helpful to see someone else's workflow. I use a Wista 45DX, nice to see a Chamonix in action. Also the Stearman tank, which has some mixed reviews. I just develop in trays, my bathroom is dark enough with door closed at night. A pretty image!

Great video, they cause a certain amount of sadness to me though as I'll probably never have access to a darkroom again. Photography went from a hobby to a love affair when I had my own darkroom back in the 80's.

An outstanding video Martin! Thank you, its a huge help to me with my 4x5 process. One question if I may, assuming I would print up to A4 or , possibly, A3 what resolution would you scan at. I too have a V800 and seem to find too many different views on scanning resolution for 4x5.
I would scan at 3200 iso then re size the file in PS

Thanks for great instructional video on 4 by 5 processing. For 120, do you remove the backing paper before you load the film into the reel or just reel the film into the roller and let the backing paper fall off naturally? Thanks.
As you load the film onto the reel, as you do this the backing paper separates from the film,
