"Release the restrain device. Using the released power may result the possibility of destruction of the ship."
"You did your best. Was I helpful for you?"
"I am deeply grateful to you."

this is impressive to see how far people can push the "theoretical best" score.
but in my mind nothing will ever top the double play where it shows ONE guy controlling both ships

Is this what we wished for? Sure it is.
Going two players in Radiant Silvergun is counterproductive because you get less points to level up your weapons, isn't it? But going two players on Ikaruga gives the advantage of shielding your pair.
Awesome work done here. I believe this run shows how insane yet beatiful this game is.

The sad thing about watching the TAS playing this game is that they make it look so easy by executing everything perfectly. This game is hard as balls, but it's not that apparent from this play through, I feel.

Regular speedruns are about watching mortal runners overcome the limitations of the flesh and acheiving greatness. TAS runs are about pushing the limits of what the game's engine can permit for technical perfection and fun.

TECHNICAL skill, not necessarily physical skill. This run is like building a multi-tiered jigsaw puzzle that moves mid-build. Impressive, but at the same time like an action film: tons of beautiful small cuts that an editor has to painstakingly piece together.
A good comparison is this: a TAS is an editor at work; a straight-up superplay is a GoPro, with all the screen shake and everything in one continuous shot.

10:59 Wait, but I thouht TASBot was replaying TASes on real harware? If this is an emulator...that isn't "TASBot", that's like watching an emulator play a TAS in a YOuTube vieo!
Also, this is one of the videos that shows men don't have to cuss constantly so WHY can't they be this "clean" other times? it's like when required they stay clean! Why can't everything be like SGDQ?

+Xane Myers (X-Man) TAS has nothing to do with actual consoles. TAS stands for Tool-Assisted Speedrun (In this case a "point" run if you will). It's really nice to have something like this console-verified, which means it works on the actual hardware, but it is certainly not a requirement. They had said that this run cannot be console verified because of the optical disk lag causing desyncs with the hardware and the run, and it can't be accounted for because the optical disk lag can be pretty random. So it's more marathon safe and easier to just run it on an emulator like they did here.

@@Templarfreak - "Tool-Assisted Speedrun" or "Tool-Assisted Scorerun". Works either way
