I wish he would let James Franco talk. His anecdotes are so interesting.
He should keep his stupid comments in his pocket!
Another interviewer that makes the interview about himself.
islanti Yes! The other interviews I watched I’ve been frustrated with James's practiced sound bites that he just repeats in every interview. This is the first time I’ve seen him go deeper into Tommy and the movie so I was really happy. But this interviewer is ruining it.
This interviewer keeps cutting off James just as he is about to relate something important, then the conversation comes back around to James again coming naturally to his point. This interviewer needs to have a producer reigning him in - he is obsessed with minutia and the typical modern interview question: "How did it feel?"
I totally agree. But then again, it's radio and a twenty minute segment, no questions asked. He's gotta get through his questions for as full of an interview as possible. People do tend to rant and ramble, especially creative minded folks.
Aerican interviewers are ALWAYS doing that! Watch Letterman or any other American chat man and they interrupt people all the time
Thats why America have imported James fucking Corden!
Leftatalbuquerque this interviewer needs to shut up and let the actor speak. Geez, I'd get it if Franco were dragging on and on but he'd interrupt every other minute. Shut up dude.
Leftatalbuquerque exactly.
He wasn't interrupting to keep the ball rolling he was answering what he wanted James to answer is the problem.
The interviewer needs to learn to sit back and listen. Great stories from James.
Closer did not resist the charm of the j
James just likes to be heard and interviewer gives plenty of time to let James ramble .
bro just let him talk
I agree. Let James Franco speak. He was saying interesting things.
Thank you!
달plus it’s like he wants everyone to know he knows things, James twice said as I was saying before
The interviewer is just trying to keep him on task of promoting the movie and having a conversation. James loses his way a few times in this and seems to bristle a bit when the interviewer interjects to bring him back onto a track. He seems to be OK with it because the interviewer is so warm with him and the subject of the film, but still the interviewer has to be strong in directing the conversation because James is so passionate. That's a fine line for an interviewer of getting someone comfortable enough to open up and be passionate, but also knowing when to reign them in.
@@carolyntrumble3505 James Franco isn't retarded.. I'm pretty sure he can speak his mind and then continue with the questions after he is finished speaking. Plain and simple, the interviewer cuts him out too many times and over talks the man a dozen times. I would've been annoyed if I were Franco. You can still steer the conversation, despite James saying an extra few points of his opinion on the subjects. There are no rules to interviews. The best ones are where the passion of conversation gets off topic and goes down an interesting path. Look at Joe Rogan podcast.. He asks and then let's the guest speak to let everything out and I find that MUCH MORE intriguing than what this dude did.
James is so damn brilliant and insightful. His performance was flawless.
Stop cutting him off....wow....that was frustrating. A good interviewer isn't one who needs to hear his own voice...he needs to hear the interviewee's voice. You are asking Jame's questions and then jumping in to answer it for him. Let HIM answer it.
you're tearing me apart! with your crappy interview interruptions. it's OK, I still love you.
hahaha cool story mark... I think you need a woman Mark
Interviewer: "I just a guy. No big deal".
This was a perfect explanation of the room, the disaster artist, and everything behind it and about Tommy! Very respectful!
I hope #TheDisasterArtist wins an Oscar so Franco can bring Tommy on stage which is what he worked so hard for years. tears starting already
This interviewer sucks! The guy had no skill or patience to listen to what James really wanted to say. He just wanted short answers, and that's not what true artists give. The questions were okay, but all he had to do was shut up after James started talking, and he failed badly. I still can't wait for the movie though.
I understand he had limited time and was doing a sloppy job but at least he returned to the interesting question in the end after he himself sidetracked it earlier.
Ye a total f idiot
Interviewer interrupts James WAY too much in this, man. Killed some potentially amazing answers by needlessly interrupting over and over.
James sounded so enthused and knew his stuff, this was a great interview
If only we had more time with him. He just has so many stories that he could tell from his experience
@@QwithTomPower maybe if the interviewer stopped interrupting him so much... i don't care about the time constraints, he just came off as obnoxious
whenever james just casually switches into the accent i lose my mind omg i love him
This interviewer is annoyed when he has to listen to the answer to his questions in depth.
Most interviewers should be so lucky to get these type of answers and feedback.
He should stop trying to interject; it's very unprofessional and disrespectful to the guest.
If you don't cut off arrogant actors they'll ramble all day so he has to be cut off to move on with next topic
@@davidicousgregorian There's no arrogance involved. He openly admitted he's afraid of being vulnerable and being hurt and is only speaking on Tommy Wiseau. perhaps your own arrogance is projecting in this statement
@@davidicousgregorian The interviewer was extremely detached and emotionally uninvolved, yet still trying to talk. It made him seem like the arrogant one, because he wasn't in the moment, he was just coming at him from some superficial flighty air of detachment. I think James Franco was using his fiercness to teach him to come off of his throne a bit and down to earth, perhaps you should learn that too and you will find that looks and appearances don't matter. Maybe then, hot girls will start being attracted to you
God I love this. I love how James talks about it.
I can't wait to watch this film, it sounds great. I could sit and listen to James Franco speak for hours, too.
Your tearing this interview apart, interview guy!
James Franco such a cool persona
Watching it with a friend
10mins in "wtf is this"
20mins in "turn is off this is this trash"
35mins in "why are we still watching this"
45mins in "oh I guess we are halfway might as well watch it till the end"
End of Movie "I wanna watch it again"
EPIC description of the experience of watching The Room lol.
Just the fact that someone who literally played James Dean....played someone who dillusionally believed he looked like James Dean. Brilliant 😅
I was at the SXSW premiere, and I can genuinely confirm everything James Franco said about that showing of The Disaster Artist. You really see how Tommy Wiseau was a go-getter in an industry full of sharks, and the connection between him and Greg Sestero is even more amazing.
I can't wait to hear what everyone else thinks about it.
That radio host need to chill out
Starnge that Franco himself played James Dean in the 90s and now plays a character that thinks he's like James Dean
Justin Quinn Andddd; his name is JAMES!
Tommy threw the kitchen sink at it, it was like watching him mimic human beings! Bizarre!!! What a guy
There was something really inspirational about this interview. Maybe the moral is this: If Tommy Wiseau can make his dreams come true, then so can you!
Great interview w/ Mr. Franco! Really want to see the movie and see what it does.
Thanks for uploading this! Great to hear James Franco's insight on Tommy. Highly anticipating the December release:)
Thanks for watching! We're excited about The Disaster Artist coming out too!
8:40, been watching about 30 interviews with James about the Room, this is the first I've seen him talk about how he avoided feeling failure. The end where he talks about how Austin is the first time Tommy got unadulterated applause was very touching, this is the only interview I've seen that mentions it, and it does entirely bring the story full circle
James Franco switching between his normal voice and his Wiseau accent feels very strange.
He's so passionate about everything he does. Love that!
Oh Hi Mark
"Everybody betrayed me! I’m fed up with this world".
q on cbc "Don't tauch me matherfaucker, get out!" - Johnny.
"YOUR TEARING ME APART LISA !"
Stoner Yoda937 "Do you understand life? Do you?"
"Oh hai doggy"
At 6:00 you can feel James getting annoyed by the interruption lol
I liked the comment "bro just let him talk" and i realize that is because of the pure honesty of playing the character/person fof Tommy from James .. if anyone could point me to more interviews like this I would be grateful
Well, James Franco played James Dean. Thus, fair enough.
let the guest finish their story!
4:20
Why would you cut him off here? James even hurriedly tried to return to that point again later.
Let him talk ffs...
He did let him talk?
It annoyed me too. He did cut him off a couple of times and was driving the conversation a little too heavy handedly. I think you can see it on Franco's face like he was getting annoyed, but that's just a guess. I'm not really a Franco fan, but if you're going to get an A list actor maybe go for the full half hour. It really seemed like he had more to say and I was interested to hear it because I'm into The Room and Franco seemed passionate about talking about it , but this guy had to "wrap it up"
Have to agree he cut him off sometimes and it's really annoying.
Kinda knew who Tommy Wise was, hadn't watched the movie. The trailer lead me into looking into the movie and tommy. Thanks
It seems to me like you're the expert, Franco!
7:06 - Yeah, giving props to American Movie, man! Awesome. More people should know about that film.
Excellent interview. Very surprised by the criticism in the comments. I was very impressed by the way the interviewer forced James Franco to be personal and reflective rather than (understandably) give the usual spiel that I've watched in other interviews.
Stop interrupting
E c tell me about it
Franco.... you make me smile. You're intelligent enough to know. Thank you.
Bruh ffs let the man speak!
Christopher Moltisanti right, I wish James said can I please finish my sentence
"Oh, hi M-- " Wait. Let me interrupt you there. 😦
Phenomenal interview
The story surrounding the creation of the disaster artist should also be made a movie lol
Sean Snow by this logic. We will ptobably never stop getting those movies... im ok with that
Launch date: 14 years from now
Gah Damn this interviewer interrupts more than Fallon
I’ve got a lot going of respect for Franco. He even appeared at one of the room screenings. He obviously doesn’t think of himself as too good unlike other Hollywood stars
Should've asked him about his sex life.
chaosinorderrr " its so great to have you as my best friend mark and I love Lisa so much "
He cannot tell you. It's confidential.
chaosinorderrr 3:20 Jame Franco looks a lot like James Deen here.
he once was James Dean in a movie
I've never seen Franco so serious before ! Can't wait for the movie !!!
4:22 is good question and James Franco gives great answer 4:45
What is the movie James is talking about from about 11:00? thanks :-)
To be fair, an interviewer's job is to keep the interview moving and get answers to questions quickly, especially in a 20 min. format. James has a tendency to talk and talk and talk and talk some more. When he finally stops he's light years from the original question that still remains unanswered. Yes, James had many interesting, funny, and insightful anecdotes. But, most are straight from Greg's book and I think the interviewer is simply trying to corral James into a more concise conversation due to time restrictions. Read Greg's book, or listen to Greg's audiobook for 11 hours of nonstop continuous pure Tommy/The Room madness first hand from the man who was there. It's amazing.
man he nails that accent so good
the question remains, how did tommy get the original funding?
What do you mean the "secret" to the appeal? It's one of the most entertaining films ever created. Not much of a secret my guy
i like how tommy shakes the interviewer's hand with the hand he violently coughed on...interviewer might have got wiseauitis...can he become the next tommy wiseau
Found myself groaning every time the interviewer interrupted the stream of conversation. Come on, dude... this is basic shit.
Tommy Wiseau has a lot of Charisma and The Room is an honest effort that just turned out bad by luckily so bad it's good.
tommy is a go getter! good for him! plus he's very original
I feel like James really appreciates Tommy. I just watched the room, I gotta watch the disaster artist
I think I'm equally excited for this as I am with Blade Runner 2049. Can't wait.
I wanted to hear the rest of James’ point at 5:52 darn
Have you ever tried watching The Room in reverse... PURE GENIUS!
Franco's dialect for Tommy is spot on. It isn't a funny impression but he takes the PERSONA of Tommy
yeah. interviewer keeps cutting james off.
Franco never stops talking. If the interviewer didn't interrupt it would literally be Franco talking for twenty minutes straight. Which would be awesome, but then it wouldn't really be an interview anymore
James Franco @2:03 Hold that burp back! Hold it back! Hold it, hold it, now swallow it.
Nice!
This dude is good !!
At 7:09, James Franco mentions a documentary called American Movie, about another person trying to make a movie, named Mark Borchardt. I laughed out loud when he said that, because I had already thought that Tommy Wiseau's story reminded me very much of Mark Borchardt's story, in that he also was a person who desperately wanted to make a movie. They couldn't be more different as people, but their drive was the same. In Borchardt's case, even though he starred in his own ultra-ultra-ultra low budget horror movie ("The Coven", pronounced CO-VEN, as in woven, not coven, as in oven, for reasons only Borchardt understood but insisted on), his drive was more as a director and writer, rather than an actor. It took him three years of working at hard (sometimes demeaning) minimum wage jobs to gather the film and resources of this short film he willed into existence.
He drafted everyone (and I mean everyone, including his own mom and grandfather) into being part of it.
The documentary was made by his film teacher, Chris Smith, and is very bit as fascinating, hilarious and heart rending as The Room is.
I think it's great that James Franco saw the parallels between the two, and that he saw the heart in both men....
I worked on 5 Sharknado movies. I'm practically a four star general in the art of camp lol
I hope James sweeps all the awards
2:23 James Franco is stuck in character.
3:11 that laugh . hahaha what a story
He actually said he relates to Tommy
James Franco is up there with Leo di caprio ... GENIUS
This interviewer is a Mental Defective. LET THE GUY TALK!
let james talk man
People appreciate the effort.
Such an incredible movie! Check out our channel for our latest video - FILM PROFESSORS AND STUDENTS REACTING TO "THE ROOM"!
It kind of reminds me of that stuff that the "joker" movie was exploring yet this movie was a whopper success.
w0w hes good looking and hes smart
2:29 come forrr wereverrrrrr
I just realised how much he sounds like Dave
The interviewer needs to keep his comments in his pocket.
That jacket that Francos wearing is FIRE
love James Franco.
interviewer is seriously obnoxious
08:09 wtf dude!!!! James was telling a super interesting thing about the movie
James; you’re a freakin genius!
amen
Correction - there is no millions of bad movies - there is only 2 500 000 movies in history overall (accoring imdb)
Gahhhh the interviewer needs to just let James Franco answer the question
"Ya! I wanna do a scene with you"
it looks like your the expert James
James Franco needs to shut up and let the interviewer talk
Isnt that the complete opposite of what should have been happening? Its an interview because people want to hear what the interviewer is saying not the other way around
It's James Franco's job to promote the film and talk ROLF interviewer is just to just to ask a question and let the man speak
I think it was joke
sarcasm guys
Oh hi James Franco
I enjoyed this. I thought the interviewer did fine! As interesting as James Franco is, he didn't exactly use 5 words when 30 would do.
Tom Power,
I wanted to hear James Franco - not you interrupting James Franco, or you saying “yeah... yeah... yeah... yeah...”
I’m not the only one who can see how uncomfortable James is when you cut him off. “Right right right right right.”
This had the potential of being an awesome interview, but I’m disappointed.
james franko is a genius
THIS INTERVIEWER IS TEARING ME APART!!!
I don't think the interviewer was trying to cut him off but James Franco admittedly has difficulty answering the question and will go off on tangents.
