Lydia Duttine I have the same anxieties. Sometimes I read psalms where I read things like "Blessed is the man whose transgressions are forgiven" and psalm 51 where David is broken over his sin with Bathsheba. God's "mercy is new every morning" is from another psalm. But even this I lose my assurance. Try reading 1 John and begin praying with thankfulness for all God is doing. I think the fact that you see your sins as so horrible is evident that the Holy Spirit is still working in you. Consider the their on the cross who acknowledged that he is getting what his sins deserve and he asks Christ to remember him. I hope this helps.
I say you are believing a lie. I have battled severe depression most of my life. No medicine helped for very long. Then I realized that it is a sin to not believe God. I have to repent several times a day but its getting much better. I hope this helps.
Read the Old Testament and see how bad David was. Or just the New Testament and see how Jesus willingly chose to hang out with. Not the religious ones. The complete opposite.
For me personally, God has made me realized that when we think we have sinned too much and will not receive forgiveness from Him, we are actually allowing our own selfish ego to interpret what God would do. God will forgive those who come to Him in sincere repentance. But to truly repent we must believe that He will provide all that we need to repent, pray to Him and boldly petition him to give you what is needed for a sincere repentance. Pray to Him every moment of your life without ceasing and surrender all your anxiety to Him, and you will receive peace that is beyond human understanding.
Forgiveness is found as long as your alive. Once you die, then it's too late. The only sin that can keep you from finding forgiveness, is to turn your back on Jesus. Infact, He's waiting with open arms for You.
Being anxious and having an anxiety attack are two different things. They are not related. I have been battling Anxiety attacks, including hospitalizations, for 60 of my 73 years. It's not in your mind. Because they one day started listening to those affected researchers have been able to pin point it's an often hereditary disease. Get the book "The Anxiety Disease", written by the head of two different top medical schools, and read it.
Wonderful. God bless all the brothers and sisters in Christ that are fighting the good fight of faith against anxiety.
