Well I guess that's an Asian thing, where a lot of emphasis is put on grammar and letter formats and use of proper polite language in writing, and by Asia I don't know much about all the Asian countries but I'm pretty sure it's true of South and East Asian countries, like the Indian subcontinent, PRC, Japan, the Koreas, Taiwan (Yes it's a country) Or maybe it's a fallout of using pardon instead of what all the time
