Looney Tunes was oddly the only one I was sure of. I don't know why, but Toons just looked so immediately wrong to me. That being said, it was entertaining to watch Ryan be absolutely livid about it.
Same!! I remember being in Six Flags and always seeing Looney Tunes, and as a kid seeing it as Looney Tunes 😂, there's even a Looney Tunes Show that's like modern Looney Tunes, so I knew something was up with "Looney Toons"
Yeah, I think the show was named before "toon" was commonly understood as shorthand for cartoon. And many of the early shorts were dialog-free and just set to music.
Part of the thing about Loony Tunes is that their shorts were called "Merry Melodies". They rarely sang, but there was a musical score that was accented by their motions.
Whats worse is that they had another show called Tiny Toons. So for me it made sense it was called Looney Toons Cuz theyre were loony cartoons, ya know? And they sang more in tiny toons than in looney tunes, so wtf 😭
I think Sam was right about the Mandela Effect being a confusion between two similar memories, because the woman who thought that Mandela had died in jail in 1980 probably just confused him with Stephen Biko (the anti-apartheid activist) who was killed in jail in 1977.
The Looney Tunes name was inspired by Walt Disney's musical cartoon series, Silly Symphonies. I worked as Looney Tunes characters (not voice actors) and I STILL had to look this up as to why it's named that
I've found a lot of people think he had it due to Pet Deceive 2, he says a guy is the Monopoly Guy and he had a monocle Peanut man is the Planters Peanuts, he was all over the commercials because he "died" then he came back as a baby
@@the_elite_truth I don't know anything about Pet Deceive either... But if you asked me if the Pringles man had a monocle I would probably say yes. So maybe it's just the kind of face that we associate with monocles.
@@duyguvulpes The movie The Heathers Winona Ryder is wearing a monocle in a couple scenes and it just looks very odd? In the movie Mr. Deeds the Monopoly Man appears with his monocle hmm.... and Ryder was in that movie too!🧐😮🤷🙆♀
it's funny the "Tunes/Toons" debate to me bc I'm Brazilian so I've pronounced the name as if it was in Portuguese (something like "law-nay too-knees") so I don't even think twice because it doesn't make any sense for it to be Toons
7:40 I really believe that the Jif peanut butter is also two memories. Back in the day, there were also Jiffy baking mixes. Now you can still sometimes find Jiffy baking mix as a competitor to Bisquick mix, but when I was a kid, there were all these boxes of Jiffy mix and they were cornbread and muffin mixes. Anyway, I think our parents mixed the brands up and it’s like, a legacy Mandela Effect.
I got 7/8 as well because I was so sure it was Smokey the Bear. I knew the Looney Tunes one because I had a Looney Tunes shirt when I was kid and my mom has a picture of me wearing it on her wall, so every time I visit, I see it.
i only got the last one correct because non-american accent means toons and tunes are pronounced differently so i was just going based off how child me would pronounce it... perks of an aussie accent i suppose
I actually got baited on all of them except the last one. I just remember my first grade teacher saying that Looney Tunes was animations made for classical music. So funny pun. Lmao
Love your videos!! Did y’all see that Ethan Slater just joined the Wicked movie cast?? I saw the article and thought of y’all and your dream cast video 😂 won’t it be cool to compare casts when the full list is revealed!!
I watched the Berenstain Bears TV show (the original 80s one) as a kid and clearly remember them ALWAYS saying it as “BerenSTAIN” at the beginning of every single episode. I think people misspoke it as Berenstein often because ”stein” is just a much more common last name ending than “stain”, and that would explain how lots of kids grew up thinking it was “stein”. It also just so happens that my parents kept ALL of our old Berenstain Bears books from the 80s and 90s and every single one is spelled the Berenstain way, from the very first book onwards.
I have never loved being brazilian more. We call looney tunes here "looney tooneys" because thats what the brazilian pronunciation of english words tells us to do, so i got the looney tunes one right. (Even tho i didnt know the bear one, never heard of him lol)
Of all the examples this effect could be named after Mandella is the strangest to Me. I was barely a teenager and I CLEARLY REMEMBER when Nelson Mandella was released from jail. It was HUGE , WORLDWIDE NEWS. I was in grade school and I DEFINITELY remember we talked about it when it happened. The only other current events I remember being brought up in grade school were the Berlin War falling. The start of the Iraq War which was right around the same time as Mandella if I'm not mistaken. And finally, the most difficult of them all. The Space Shuttle Challenger exploding. I was in 3rd grade and they put the whole school in the gymnasium to watch the liftoff of the challenger due to the TEACHER being a crew member. That was a huge deal so we all knew about it. When it exploded everyone was stunned. The adults freaked out.
I just saw a kid who had a shirt that said "looney toons" not "tunes". Personally, I think toons makes more sense than "tunes" because looney has the double oo. Toons just makes more sense. Someone make a petition to chance it to toons instead of tunes, please.
I think Looney Tunes was a response to Merry Melodies (Disney's cartoon shorts in 1930s/40s) and that's why it is tunes and not toons. They are both from the same era after all. Edit: You looked it up and it was Silly Symphonies apparently.
So "Looney Toons" - why the opening of "Toon Town" at Disney World and not "Tune Town" lol and what's up with the Who framed Roger Rabbit movie with Toons and Toon Town?
Also I watched this video a couple days ago and don’t remember you saying anything about where you got the sweatshirts, so if u did and I missed it-sorry about that 🙃
At 2:54, was I the only one who was thinking that the sample size of the test had to be at least 50 people. And that there was no way for 2% of 10 people to pass the test 😅
i think the gump thing is he’s explained what she always said not quoting it. like she said “is” but she previously said it and he’s not direct quoting so you would use past tense? that makes grammatical sense right??
There is a logical explanation, and it dates back to the 1920s. In the early days of animation, Disney produced short animated films, set to music, called “Silly Symphonies.” The most famous of these is probably “The Three Little Pigs.” The purpose of these mini-movies was to promote and sell music, in the form of records and sheet music. As Disney’s Silly Symphonies gained popularity, Warner Brothers, another major entertainment studio, created its own equivalent. They produced two different song-based series: “Merrie Melodies” and “Looney Tunes.” As for the “looney” part of the title, Warner Brothers wanted to indicate that their cartoons were a little wackier than the sweeter characters of Disney.
So I did some research- they actually DID change the name of Berenstein to Berenstain after something happened with one of the Berenstain family members.
What’s interesting is in my brain I at first thought “Looney Tunes” but I remembered getting a space jam jersey and it said “Toon Squad” so I figured it must be “Looney Toons” and yet…. 😮
The Gump question is wrong. The line is that life is a box of chocolates. The confusion isn't between is/was, it's that the word "like" doesn't appear in the original.
Looney Tunes, Silly Symphonies and Merrie Melodies.... That is the 3 "original" names of them. Pretty sure it has something to do with the music score/they didn't usually talk
Looney Tunes was oddly the only one I was sure of. I don't know why, but Toons just looked so immediately wrong to me. That being said, it was entertaining to watch Ryan be absolutely livid about it.
@@scarclem Oooh, that explains it! I'm Australian, so obviously "toon" wouldn't sound right to me.

I also love them questioning them singing when there’s a lot of songs throughout all episodes. Specifically by bugs

I was 100% sure that Mandela was dead but then I watched his funeral in 2013... I was definitely confused.
