In the end you have to spend a lot to continue getting these benefits. If you are used to paying 100-150$ per night you will not be willing to fork out the big bucks to accumulate status. To continue getting these perks you do have to spend even though you get some cheap nights to start. As for free breakfasts these are widely offered in many 4-5 star hotels especially in Europe and Asia.
Love the channel, so many helpful videos! I'm just getting started with RBC/Avion points. It would be great to get some more content about Avion and the benefits, perks, insurance coverage etc, of the RBC Avion Visa Infinite card soon! Keep the great videos coming!
Good detailed description of each hotel elites program
Thanks for the informative video. Time to try out Hilton and Hyatt
A dedicated video reviewing your experiences with Globalist in 2021/2022 would be great. You’ve already reviewed Bonvoy and HHonors in good detail, but would be informative for viewers out there to see what Hyatt is like and your opinion of Globalist so far.
I’ll film one at the next Hyatt I stay at 😃
Coincidence you posted this! I just got approved for my Hilton Aspire card shortly before you posted this after following your US Credit Cards guide. Cannot wait for those Diamond lounges and upgrades when travelling outside NA. :)
Outside NA is always best ✅
Status at hotels is great!
great video
Yes, but the US Amex Surpass card gives you Gold status for only $95 USD. Not a bad deal if you just want to enjoy the free breakfasts and occasional upgrade. Much cheaper than the Amex Platinum cards.
Would be crazyyy if you did a video on the best checking account in canada and credit card benefit that comes with them
Great idea
Off topic here . What’s your take on bid for upgrade. April Yyz to DBx. Direct AC on Dreamliner economy 😂. Is it worth trying. And how can I find the minimum bid?
Awesome video! Could you do a similar video comparing how to hack your way to get status with star alliance (Asiana) vs skyteam, etc
We’ll do an airlines version later this year :)
@@PrinceofTravel yay! Looking forward to it
It’s good time to get a good microphone 😅
Wonder if we should make a post where we put our refer a friend links? Could be a nice way to get extra points.
Are you able to get the Hilton Honors Amex if you're a Canadian citizen
Have the aspire doesn't really do much in the US. If everyone is diamond nobody is diamond. I only have gotten upgrades once while in Asia at a Hilton and a second in Vegas but that might have been due to fhr booking. I spent my way to Hyatt globalist with business spendast year so far haven't really stayed at Hyatt properties. Which may be a sign I shouldn't bother with hotel status. But I have booked a spring break trip with points and upgraded with a suite upgrade so I'm eager to see what the treatment is like. My concierge with Hyatt has been ok. She works weird hours and if I want to get something booked ASAP I have just called in. We will see how the rest of the year works out. I'm tempted to get the Marriott card to get platinum status but I feel like it will be like Hilton where I don't get much except access to the lounge.
Hi Ricky, Can you do the French Hotel group, Accor. I prefer Accor then supporting Marriott.
Unfortunately Accor’s points system has less upside as it’s fixed at 2,000 points = €40, but there are still some status tricks that we can cover in the future 👌🏼
Its very to easy to get accor platinum, thanks to cheaper brand such as ibis novotel and mercure. If your destination is mostly around asia pacific region, I greatly suggest you to pursue accor. They have solid and nice presence at asia pacific
For me Hilton is history. I find them cheap in terms of upgrades even if you hold status. I only stay with them when i have no other choice. This is for the Hilton. In general, I have not found being loyal to any chain worth it.
For bookings at upscale properties, better to use third party platforms such as FHR, Virtuoso, Visa collection...
Sounds like a good future video topic 👌🏼
Help 🤷♂️
I have a trip coming up where I'll be staying at a Marriott hotel spending between 5 and 7k. I'm looking to maximize my points so I can turn around and use them for a trip to New York (St Regis or The Plaza) in 2024 or 2025. I'm looking at the Brilliant or the Venture X. What're your thoughts?
It's a pity that all those perks are only available to US and Canadian customers.
What about the other brands like IHG, Fairmont and Four Seasons.
Fairmont is under Accor Umbrella
Can you stack Amex Marriott in Canada with platinum ? Would that give you 15 + 25 nights ?
Nope US only!
I want all the cards, lol,
No thank you, I'll just stick to Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, Dorchester Collection, AMAN Resorts, Cheval Blanc and other hotels that participate in AMEX FHR but not part of Marriott, Hilton or Hyatt. I find my stays more relaxing without having to "compete" with fellow Platinum/Titanium members and know that most other guests have paid top dollar for their stays.
The Dorchester looks amazing! Have you stayed?
@@PrinceofTravel I stayed at one of their Paris properties, Hotel Plaza Athenee.
