Working at a Ritz with FHR program the breakfast credit is based on price and not the people. Ours is $70 and if it’s one person spending $70 it will be taken off.
I know this is an old video, but my take on this credit is that the complimentary room upgrade literally makes or breaks the plat card. I stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Chicago with my fiancé for two nights, and booked a regular room for $377/night. When we got there, we got upgraded to a suite, which, if booked normally, is worth $875/night!! Plus the property credit and breakfast and such, my plat card paid for itself in 2 days thanks to that upgrade. To anyone reading this: do your best to get that upgrade, it single-handedly pays for the plat annual fee!
Yeah, hahah, gonna make an update soon about my FHR experience in Jackson Hole! Good perspective! Sometime, in my experience, I don't get that great of an upgrade; maybe an extra $50 upgraded room, but I did get a free gift once, a bottle of wine and chocolate. However I'm glad you got the upgrade! That's awesome!!
The hotel will hold your bags for you if they can’t check you in early and even after checkout, just ask the front desk or the bell hop. That way you can go explore without having to carry anything. It’s a standard service at like 99.99% of big name hotels
Thank you for the video. I used this credit in las Vegas. Where they charge you for the air you breathe. Needless to say the money was not enough to cover breakfast for two people. We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria. Everything you said was spot-on. We got our $200 credit within a day or so
@@CalbyNg I am trying to remember the amount I think it was $60. A bagel with cream cheese and salmon plated nicely. Was $20. In all fairness it was one tasty bagel.
The breakfast credit is per person. Great point to order in room. I have used the FHR credit a lot I get good value with upgrades and late check out BUT the room costs are much higher on the FHR portal than other portals.
Dang, so they actually do count people. Oh yeah, some hotels on FHR are crazy more expensive, but some are actually about the same price; like Denver’s Art Hotel.

Thanks for a funny and useful video. I don't like that most of my searches get FHR pricing significantly higher than booking directly, like you pointed out. Then it's like I'm paying them to give me some credit. I booked a Kimpton for one night, my first time doing this process. Crossing my fingers.
@@CalbyNg Um, what, password what? Am I allowed to know? It'll my first time at a Kimpton, and no one has told me...ok, just Googled it. There isn't a password yet for the summer, but I'll be waiting for it, fingers crossed. Thanks!
Good breakdown! I just checked in to Marriott in Malta this weekend using thr Amex website for the first time. Hope to book a fine hotel this year for bf bday. Subscribed.
Usually when booking through the FHR, you'll have a good chance of being upgraded without even asking. If you want, doesn't hurt to ask, you can ask, "Is my stay eligible for an upgrade?". However, other than the upgrade they were already going to give me, I haven't gotten any further upgrades because sometimes Amex provides gifts to the room you are assigned. For my most recent trip Amex gave me a bottle of wine ($35 value) and chocolates. So because of that, the front desk didn't upgrade me any further. Hoped that helps and thanks for watching!!
Yes, you'll get both. The $100 Hotel Credit though is part of the Hotel Collection and Fine Resorts and Hotels. So every time you book those you'll get the experience credit. Not just once a year. The $200 statement credit comes from your Amex Platinum.
@@ezioleon9974 Yeah kind of; I would more compare it to getting a gift card to use for on-site amenities at the hotel. While the $200 is built into the Platinum card.
Good question. I personally haven't been upgraded to club level from the times I booked FHR, but reading around on Reddit; they say just because you get an upgrade to club level doesn't mean you can access the lounge. Which is interesting
It has, so far, for me. Just have to make sure you put your Marriott loyalty number at checkout, or call the hotel to get them to add it to your reservation. You can also get the concierge to do it as well.
I'm not sure about all; however, when booking there is an option to add your hotel loyalty number. So far, from my experience, all the Marriott booking were able to honor my Marriott status.

Thanks! Usually depends on you and your topics. This channel has been running for almost a year now, and I still don't have 1,000 subs. But I've had another channel where it took 6 months to get monetized. But after I got monetized, as long as I was posting, I made about $100 a month. Not sure about $500 a month, but currently, that other channel, has about 5k subs, and makes about $300 a month. I use a Canon EOS R, but I only had that camera because I did photography before this. To Edit, I use a MacBook Pro and Final Cut; as my editing software. Pretty easy to learn (recommend @Dylan Bates, if you want to learn). For the music, at first I used the library in RUclips Studio, but recently I've used Audiio (About $60 a year or I think $300 for a lifetime subscription).
Great content. I have all the standard cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve and Amex Gold and Platinum, and currently I do not pay any of the annual fees. I travel often but I feel I am too lazy or don't have the time to try to take advantage of all the credits. Do you think it's financially reasonable to keep these cards after I leave the military?
First of all, thank you for your service! For your question about the premium cards. If you don’t think you’ll have the time to use the credits I wouldn’t recommend the Amex cards because a-lot of the value come from the “couponing”. However if you live next to a centurion lounge airport or visit airports with centurion lounges, a bunch, might be worth keeping the Amex Plat card because of the airline 5x multiplier and if you happen to remember to activate and use the benefits on the Plat even better. The Amex gold, there are other dining $0 annual fee cards that are close or on par with the dining multiplier; like the chase freedom cards, and the citi custom cash card. The citi custom cash card also would be a good grocery spend card, 5% on the first $500 a month spend. But if you’re okay with decent lounges and would like easy to use credits the CSR would be your best way to go. You just have to swipe travel purchases and you’ll get up to $300 back and the CSR has lounge access with restaurants. I would also look into the Capital One Venture card. Not as easy to use compared to the CSR but atm high welcome bonus and pretty good travel credits. TL;DR: Keep the Chase Sapphire Reserve maybe add the Citi Custom Cash card for grocery spend.
@@CalbyNg Thank you very much for the detailed comment. Will definitely take that into consideration. @@wanderingdoc5075 Yep, the Chase Sapphire Reserve on any type of travel: flights, taxis, lyfts, subways, buses, even hotels; if you aren’t able to use the credits or don’t want to keep the Amex Plat. I would also put dining spend on the CSR (3x Dining) if you aren’t keeping the Amex Gold. The Chase Sapphire Reserve’s Pay Yourself Back program isn’t bad for squeezing out more worth from your points and Chase has pretty good transfer partners. For hotel cards definitely recommend the World of Hyatt card, their points have high value and they give you a hotel certificate each year that could give you more value than the annual fee itself. There are also other hotel cards that give hotel certificates that could be redeemed for more value than the annual fee itself. So yeah hotel cards could be worth looking into. It has, so far, for me. Just have to make sure you put your Marriott loyalty number at checkout, or call the hotel to get them to add it to your reservation. You can also get the concierge to do it as well.
You need to book for 2 day to get the Amex 200 dollars credits no?
Not for the Fine Hotels and Resorts properties; just 1 day. Only with the Hotel Collection properties you have to book 2 days.
Does the 200 reimburse the room cost
