I’m very happy! Was planning to stick with Rhinar anyway but this made it easier! I’m pretty new but having 3 heroes in a single class seems standard. A whole new brute might have topped scales a bit. Rhinar is pretty cool in design and having this set partly designed with him in mind is pretty rad!
Looking forward to see more! So I think LSS hinted at Rhinars journey to the Deathmatch, with Beaten Trackers. And his story ends by implying there is nothing left for him to fight: "Rhinar bellows, a challenge to fall on empty ears, no surviving beast to hear his challenge." And what is more challenging then an arena full of champions!
I play Rhinar with 75% 6+ - attacks and these cards are straight upgrades. I've never played the more defensive style and I've always relied on pressure in the early game to set the tempo. Rhinar has always been a good closer and they have given him more tools. It's nice to see design taking him closer to this playstyle over the current Bloodrush combo/ value builds that are popular now. It's much more fun to play trying to double intimidate every turn as opposed to worrying about bricking a 6 discard or drawing 0 blocks.

I’ve been really playing Rhinar a bunch this year (.partially your channel and also I love scaring and beating my opponent to a bloody pulp) and I love it I avoided the big boys in fab to start and messed with rangers and some bravo but this hero is just fun and intimidating. Don’t get me started on scowling flesh bag. Ty for your content and sadly I can’t play with you on mondays because I work nights but I’ll be back to armories in ptown soon. Heavy hitters is the juice to really get me excited again. Our big green might LL this year but let’s get ready for a wild ride.
Agility and Vigor Tokens will be pure gas for this class. Having go again and a resource at the start of your turn changes your hand evaluation massively.
At most recent armories i played a full intimidate rhinar with 9 barraging, pulping, wild ride, massacre and the meataxe and no bloodrush bellows. Mighty fun! Ill quess i stick with this plan with all the (not so random anymore) intimidate support. Using Beat chest while having beast within in hand is gonna be so much fun. GOOD TIMES
I would also be really interested in how they explore his story in the lore. And how much intelligence he has. Are they using him as a captured Beast, did he let himself get captured to access the arena, is he a participant who comes and goes on a schedule? Really love his new adult art, and a little disappointed we didn't get fresh young art, but if they were going to reuse some young art I'm glad they used that one. :)
I kinda wonder how the weapons will end up looking, if we get romping club again, rhinar will look very strong in limited tbh., he simultaneously beats and threatens fatigue. (Especially given we already know of block cards for him) Have to wait and see what the second guardian/guardian weapons do.
Lore wise I guess it could make sense Rhinar got bored of the same monsters of the Savage Lands and started to move north, remembering the encounters with humans that could stand their ground against him? Anyway, love Rhinar is back, I suppose they didn't want to change him as there isn't a design space to explore Intimidate laterally with the current build or something?
Personally, I'm thrilled with Rhinar returning unchanged. The idea that we have to abandon old heroes, (or old versions of heroes) is stupid. Giving him just a little more juice is enough, and supporting old heroes that need it should be both applauded and expected.
Show no mercy is much better than first glance… you only need 1 beatdown. You don’t need to quad intimidate, only twice. if they block with the 2 left over, they now have no cards in hand so it gets +3… and if they DONT then it gets the + from beatdown. Lose lose for the opponent
