The whole mls is a plastic league made out of marketing and consumers It’s another corporation No culture for the sport, no history, no identity some clubs even want to change cities due to lack of support
They gotta start somewhere ryte...the question of when did you start following/supporting a club does not matter... We all started somewhere... European,Asian, American doesn't matter.... these fans supported the club at the very start of it all...how many of European Football Clubs supportes can claim that...
Most european clubs were started by the people, e.g Hajduk Split was founded back in 1911 by a couple of students from Split, while your teams are made by corporations looking to suck money out of the people
look chaps, us brits do not hate you lot,we like that you're getting stuck in. and understand that the travelling makes it hard. keep going. though somtimes the chants are a bit embarassing
@@jamiemidge4983 Just looked into it and it's not lol thank goodness lmao. I mean the ‘I believe that we will win’ chant is a fun little thing, but gaaaah damn it's over used
evan NYRB was originally the NewYork/NewJersey Metrostars. The ownership change happened in 2006. The club still actively admires our past and so do our fans. My issue with NYCFC is that their fans are a bunch of douchebags. In our US Open Cup match against them in June they literally broke a whole row of seats in our arena. They claim to be a real club when they don’t have a real stadium and a consistent fan base. Their attempts to find a new stadium have been pathetic. They share stadiums with the New York Yankees (baseball team). This season the Yankees performed surprisingly well and made it to the playoffs. One of their games coincided with NYCFC so they had to play somewhere else. The “experienced and qualified professionals” at NYCFC decided to move their game to over 2 hours away in a different state. They are one of the biggest laughing stocks in the league, and only exist because of sheikh mansour.
Kemarinhoo The games that coincided with NYCFC were never supposed to be played in New York. They were supposed to be in Tropicana in Tampa Bay, except Hurricane Irma made it unsafe for players and fans to go to the stadium. That's why they had to be moved.
The first club to reach the CONCACAF Champion's League semifinal was from NYC in *1984* a feat that would not be matched until RSL in 2010. Want to guess the club? I'll give you a hint, it wasn't the Cosmos :)
@@supersun0079 RBA average attendance is 19,000 where as NYCFC average attendance is between 20,000 to 25,000 on both baseball stadiums I wouldn't brang about it
Andrew Yeah that derby trophy thing is pretty american. The same happens in college football. I'm of the thinking that if it doesn't hurt the game, it's cool
I used to thought like that. But considering they have to pay $200++ million for expansion fee and built football specific stadium. The pro-rel were still far away. But in the other side, without pro-rel this league will always be a joke
Football is a global sport and thats what makes it beautiful. Thats why I've got no time for people degrading the MLS and Football in America. From a british man , keep doing what you're doing America. As long as the fans believe in the club, the MLS will one day reach the heights of football.
im also british, wolves fan lol gotta be said, and I keep up with the MLS week in week out and I love it. now all I want is the best for the mls and usmnt (usmnt cos I love it when us football haters get proven wrong)
I dont think the mls is that bad, the playoff system is shit and the defence is as bad as Liverpool's sometimes (I support them incase u didnt know) but some of the attacking players that ive seen are pretty good
Damn, not a single mention of the Toronto-Montreal rivalry? One of the most heated in the league that is one of the few that is actually rooted in differences in culture, not to mention geography and politics? Hope we get some coverage on that soon!
T tba Exactly! Strange to highlight fabricated rivalries over one of the few TRUE rivalries that has existed between two cities before the MLS was even a league!
I think this was a collab between C90 and MLS. Wouldn't surprise me that Garber hates Canada. Maybe its because we both play on grass, on real fields, not like the retards down south. Who knows. Either way the Cup is coming to Canada
I'm not the biggest MLS fan but credit where credit is due. The league has progressed a lot since its conception. As someone who has attended matches in both Europe and the US, the quality of play and the fan culture obviously isn't near the level of say the Prem or Bundesliga but it's rapidly growing. Big ups to the MLS and its supporters. Don't listen to all the haters that have no idea about the league and only hate on it due to their irrational biases. No MLS fan acts like they're on the same level as the bigger leagues, guys. 😑
If you're a football fan you would be encouraging this not trying to knock the league down sure it might not be the best but it has improved and it will continue to improve
I'm from America and I agree. Although the Cascadia cup has already happened on its own pretty much. That goes back several decades before MLS was even founded.
Sorry but a football league without relegation does not feel right to me. It's a handout league. You can only win something and not lose anything. That's not football. In football you also need the pain of losing something.
dramatish and if their was a relegation they would have more teams wanting to win the league for once and not have the same teams versing each other every year
just face it no one gives a shit about the mls it’s where are players retire because of the nice weather and it’s not that good a league since players who can no longer perform well enough in our leagues go to the mls so it’s time for the mls to stop thinking it’s the shit cuz no one gives a shit about it and no team will ever be better than Europe teams because there is no trophy to be won which matters unlike champions league premier league
I dont watch the mls, i think te whole idea you cant be promoted and relegated ruins it from the get go. That being said any true football fan should want any league in any country to prosper and showcase talent. Thats why it's the beautiful game
One of the advantages of not having relegation is every team has a chance to win. The MLS has different champions because they have financial rules to prevent a team from buying the best players available. To MLS fans, it’s worth it rather than seeing the euro leagues have the same damn team win all the time.
Well no, because the league would be simply to big and also you would have big teams such a LA going up against teams who go for a kick about at the park every Sunday
HazardlyNP I feel like the main reason why there is no promotion or relegation in the MLS is that there just isn't enough popularity to create enough teams for multiple tiers/leagues. Soccer just doesn't have the same influence here that it does over in Europe. With any luck that will change in time, but for now, we're happy with what we have.
That's just how pro leagues are here in the United States. You don't drop level of play if you lose the league. It's impossible for the NFL since there isn't a lower league. Question, are college/university sports a big deal in the UK like over here, or no?
Craig Miller I mean. Most of those white people are descendent of English people. ENGLABD BLEW A 13 COLONY LEAD. We ended you guys and we'll gladly do it in sports. Just like the first time. It takes time.
@@luisrosales9349 Never will that happen in football. MLS is full of players who have retired and its too competitive. No clubs getting relegated etc. I mean your national team is in shambles losing to the worst teams in the world.
Daniel van Maanen...Americans don’t get football violence. But Europeans didn’t until about 1998. England created this football thug culture but the authorities called us “The English Disease” whenever it kicked off. All over the BBC and radio if a fan even runs into the pitch now. They’ve ruined it in England’s Premier League. You have to go to the Championship and lower leagues for the non plastics now. Sheffield Utd have just been promoted so maybe they can do some old school thuggery. Real fans love it.
Jamis Ins Europeaans didn’t before 1998? You know that ultra’s and hooligans groups from Serbia, Greece, Germany, poland etcetera. Already exist for 50 years...
Geertje Me niffo so why did British fans do what they wanted all over Europe before about 98? We’re the European Ultra and hooligan groups you mention not bothered? Maybe they were happy to see English thugs take the piss out of the foreign stadiums and cities? Why did English fans do what they wanted with no opposition for decades?
Carlo Clemente is that why Italy were banned from European competition in the 80’s then! Italy have never even been in the Premier League of football trouble. Italy have absolutely no name or reputation. In fact...as most English thugs will tell you...Italy are known as melts. 20,000 British soldiers took OVER 1 MILLION Italian soldiers in North Africa during the war. The joke about the shortest book in history being “Italian war heroes” or what colour is the Italian national flag? White! For surrender. And do you know what many Italian (Roma for one if I recall?) fans used to do? On their mopeds they’d drive up behind the opposition fans with Stanley knives and cut behind the knee. Why? Maybe so they can’t be chased? Those are all facts. Give me one back. By the way mate...Ultras are embarrassing. Face painting, drum banging flag waving nonsense. Which suggests to real hooligans that Italy just don’t get it. And they never did. Which glory team do you support mate? Jive? AC? Inter? Lazily?
The real New York team is neither NYCFC or NYRB, but NY Cosmos... That team has more history than those 2 combine. The likes of Pele and the Kaiser once played for that team. Bring that team to MLS.
You fucked it up when you mentioned Pele. And true. NY Cosmos should come back and maybe rebrand a little. Also, New York RB should rebrand to Newark RB or something
A big part of rivalry in any sport is history; the history between two teams. Portland vs Seattle, Toronto vs Vancouver are on the throne for biggest MLS rivalries as of 2019. In 10 years I see LAFC vs Galaxy and FC Cincinnati vs Columbus dethroning those two rivalries.
Also if you hate the playoff system, what's the difference between the mls playoffs and the liga mx playoffs. I don't see people saying liga mx is terrible
Wally West because some teams dont deserve to be in the playoffs, a team that has less points than another team in a different conference somehow makes it to playoffs, not fair for the teams
Because they say they’re just as good as any Euro or even Mexican team, but all they do is sign retiring players and try to quicken the growth. Football is the number 1 sport in the world, the MLS will soon be the number 1 sport in America, it’ll take years, but that’s fine. MLS is just trying to rush it.
Because teams such as Atalanta United are buying their way to success. No german club except Red Bull Leipshit bought their way to success. You support a club because of its success. We support clubs because we love them and we have a lot of history
MLS, in my opinion, can't beat a team like Bayern Munich, but definitely could beat Sunderland and Amiens. MLS is probably on the level of the Championship.
@@robinwillmann6693 a lot of our teams don't just come out of nothing. They start out in another league, like NSL, then eventually get picked to join MLS. So it's not fans saying "oh look, I chose to support this new team" but rather fans from when it was an NSL team following them to MLS. Like all 3 Cascadia teams did.
This was an AWESOME video, from the editing to production in it, it was outstanding. Even from someone who doesn't support any of these teams(waiting for North Carolina FC to get into MLS) I could feel the emotions of these fans and the intensity of the rivalries though this video. Keep bringing out videos like these!!
they said its the only league where you win a trophy for winning a derby game. Derby county and Nottingham forest play there is the Brian Clough trophy
They dont have the financial ability to. Part of the reason for that is that there is no national tv coverage of the 2nd tier here. At least i havent been able to see it. I cant even watch Indy Eleven games and theyre the biggest club in my state. The people in charge here dont want to create a culture around the game, they just want profits. Hopefully within the next few decades the literally thousands of clubs in the US will all have a fair chance.
One of the challenges shared by MLS and the A-league in Australia is geographic vastness of both countries meaning away fans are in small numbers. Both Australia and the US also have other sports that are traditionally far bigger e.g. the AFL and NRL in Australia/MLB, NBA and NFL in US. But credit to the fans in this video, they clearly have a deep connection with their club.
Renko I find it funny how New York City was built and people actually left red bulls to support city and now the same snakey supporters are cheering on city at derbys lol
To see the MLS grow gives me so much joy, not to mention, pride! I mean we're talking about a league that has been around since the early 90's but really had to earn the right to get where it has today. There aren't a lot of countries that have other sports dominate the media like the U.S., and yet we have a pride as Americans and Canadians to see our level of play grow and our supporters passionately support something that means more to them than just another sporting event. We all love this game, who cares about who has the best league, it should always be about progress no matter what continent you're on.
Joseph Garcia Garber...Garber cares about MLS being the best league. He literally said he wants MLS to be one of the top leagues by 2020. This isn't the first time he's made goalpost for this either. For him it's more about making the sport big to make more money than progress. He used to work for the NFL, he's used to working with the best.
😂 😂 😂 😂 mls is a retirement league. Most fans in the US support a player over a club. How many Americans claimed they were Barcelona fans and then became psg fans when neymar Jr went to psg. That American golden boy in Germany as well jezze America your not relevant in football. Your players are lazy and lack the hunger to learn and play in Europe. Which is the best way to go for your players. Learn how its done in Europe and go back to the mls and take that experience and develop players.
just face it no one gives a shit about the mls it’s where are players retire because of the nice weather and it’s not that good a league since players who can no longer perform well enough in our leagues go to the mls so it’s time for the mls to stop thinking it’s the shit cuz no one gives a shit about it and no team will ever be better than Europe teams because there is no trophy to be won which matters unlike champions league premier league
I'm not a MLS hater but u can't tell me the football is decent quality Calibre of players yes, but tactically and intensity wise I'd say a lot of Asian leagues are better
I'm not sure about that The defence across the league is lacking and most of the time it's depending on raw talent Even Howard can't save Rapid's non-existant defence line
Thanks for making this video. Even if it's sponsored by adidas and the MLS I went to the Portland Seattle game in Seattle and is was incredible. Best game I've been to atmosphere wise. I also went to Vancouver during the trip as well. Beautiful city and great culture and just a great trip. The best part was the march to the stadium and there was a park where all the fans hung out. I was really jealous of that and hope it come to Colorado soon. Really recommend it and was just so heart warming to see that my sport, football, has made a step hold in my country. Hopefully it spreads throughout.
As an American, fans don't really even care about the regular season. Every game mean so much to teams in Europe because only one team wins. As where in the mls 12 teams make the playoffs, thus making the regular less important.
KingShadow11 yea & they sold their identify, tradition & history to a shitty drink company to get the same things that other clubs are getting without selling their souls . It's as disgusting as that shitty drink they're selling.
My dad first took me to a game when I was about 5 years old and his dad did the same with him. THIS is Football, THIS is history! Now I'm 21 years old and I didn't missed a single Game in the last ten years, at home or away! For me Football is about these things. Greetings from Germany, Cologne!
I don't hate the MLS but I'm sure sick of hearing about it. I'm from Australia and the A-League has its moments but I don't expect the larger football community to be that interested. It's like the US Copa90 fans can't let it go that the rest of the world just isn't that interested, which isn't that unusual for a non-European, non-champions league competition. The reality is the most interesting leagues are where the higher stakes are, where the biggest prizes can be won which is most definitely European football. Like I said I don't hate it, I'm just not that interested and I don't particularly appreciate lots of MLS content being thrown in my face.
Honestly, the amount of dick measuring and attention seeking that goes on with MLS is a fuckin embarrassment. I've seen the word "cringeworthy" being tossed around these comments. Quite accurate.
Kinda feel this way about the Liga Mx. I know it will never be the biggest league in the world , because it will always be in Europe. However, I watch Liga Mx the most it has the most value to me.
American football is as yet young, underdeveloped, slightly confused, and sadly it came into the world at a suboptimal time (with the rise of the super rich owners) but I'm enjoying watching it grow and develop. I think American soccer fans (yes, I'm using both. Get triggered) need to let it grow organically, and let the sport come first and the atmosphere around it follow that. And for the love of all that is holy, stop putting so much emphasis on the foreign players and focus on American talent. That's the REAL way to ascend both as a league and as a Football/Soccer nation
Not triggered, your just wrong. Football uses peoples feet, soccer is what Americans call football. The rest of the world is right and you are wrong. But we’re not triggered. Just baffled.
The massive rivalries in the mls show how the league is growing. Across the west cost, across the east coast in particular. And rivalries in canada and texas where people go crazy. we need to admit that the mls is growing big time
who the fuck cares about league one no one mls may not be as big as the epl but more people watch the mls then league one is it even played on tv my point is you made a really shitty point
To me personally... the MLS will ALWAYS have my heart with me being an Los Angeles Galaxy fan. But... being that I watch A LOT of Premier League if I had to compare a young Darby in the MLS to one Darby in the Premier League I would say the Cascadia Cup would take the cake in my opinion so take that with a grain of salt being that they're so many GOOD DARBY MATCHES in the Premier League. Bringing it back to Vancouver, Portland, and Seattle Cascadia Cup battles, It's just so much history with those 3 clubs and North American Soccer/Football in general. The supporters brought that cup which is still crazy to this day. It just show how much passion those club supporters have. Hopefully the LAFC vs L.A. Galaxy rivaly lives up to the hype.
Wow the fans dont like each other.......shocking. And begging to support a team because lampard and david villa show up is sad especially when a local team already existed
Sonny Lulgjuraj because NYC doesn’t have any space for new stadiums, hence why NYCFC plays in a baseball stadium LOL. They’re in the NY metro area, they’re a NY team at heart, same as Jets and Giants
Jared Raymer You are totally right and anyway that is not the North american way, in Europe people only breath soccer (or football if you want) and a bit about Rugby, so they will still support the team if it's relegated. In north america people do not care about only 1 sport, depending on the areas we care about 4 major sports more than soccer, Football (american), Basket ball, Hockey and Baseball. Relegations would never work because as soon as a team would get relegated a lot of people would stop to care about it and go back watching the other 4 sports.
Mesut Özil exactly. They see that Kaka plays here and immediately say no to all the talent from around the world who are nurtured on our academies and then play in Europe.
I really hope the plans for MLS Miami expansion take place. Probably one of the largest Latin American populations in the United States and we could have a chance to channel that intense passion we have for our clubs back home. No doubt a Miami-Orlando rivalry would match any of these. Who needs a second LA club when one of the largest potential markets for a club is still untapped.
Yeeeeeeaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh...that Portland/Seattle rivalry has been since 1975, way before mls. The rivalry with Vancouver is a friendly rivalry, because we both hate Seattle. #ACES
2:24 "It's the only league I know that actually wins a trophy when you're playing a derby game" Not heard of the _The Brian Clough Trophy_ for Derby County vs N***s F****t matches then.
I support my local team (LA Galaxy) because it is the place I've grown up, and I don't care who funds them, as long as I get to watch them play and support them with my fellow LA residents.
Enigmatic In defense of RB Leipzig, they won promotion from Germany's lower leagues, unlike these new MLS teams that didn't have to win a place in their league. Besides it's not like RB Leipzig is any worse than any of the big name clubs in Europe, which the majority have big corporations behind them- just like RB Leipzig. So stop with the "pot calling the kettle black".
I do not understand how most European football fans can express so much hatred for American soccer Do you honestly think that if the only football leagues were in Europe, you could call the beautiful game a GLOBAL sport? People go around saying that Football is the greatest sport on earth, and yet you bash on North Americans for wanting to enjoy the sport as much as you do, where is the logic is that? Its like telling someone about something that you find amazing, peeking their interest, convincing them of said thing value but then every time that person tries to enjoy the same thing you deem so enjoyable , you get in their way and reprimend them for it. Im not saying that the MLS is anywhere close to the quality of the EPL but that shouldnt negate the fact that North America is a mixing pot of cultures, cultures from parts of the world that enjoy/love football, it is their right to express the same amount of love for the sport that everyone else has, that being in the form of an organised league. Im Canadian #HalaMadrid
Andre Dibo Amany we don’t bash you for enjoying it we bash you for the way you do, it’s too commercial and you’re forcing rivalries and when you should just sit back and let them happen organically Derby county and Leeds united have no link other than they were both at their peak at the same time and have a rivalry because of it, idc that you have no history we didn’t once,
Make a video on VAK-P Ultras and how they havent attended home games since april after their own club (Fc Twente) has betrayed them. The club recently put cameras on the stands and the Ultras found out. Pls COPA 90 Make a video on this 🙏
Bob Bob helemaal mee eens, ondanks dat ik een AZ supporter in hart en nieren ben heb ik toch respect voor vak-P, altijd een achter hun club staan en de keren dat ik bij Twente ben geweest een mooie sfeer. Respect!
You can’t say Red Bulls and NYCFC are big rivals. NYCFC literally just became a club a couple of years ago and there’s barely any history. Toronto and Montreal should be in this video. 2 cities that actually hate each other for other reasons besides soccer.
Apple Pie FC Just because there is hate doesn't mean there is meaning to the rivalry. They just hate eachother for the fun of it. It's not like european rivalries where there is history and actual reasons to dislike the other team.
What creates rivalries is relegation and promotions, regional classics and real competition. You can't fabricate it...when a team loose to another get relegated, congratulations, you just earned a 100 years rivalry. Good luck from Brazil, you are doing great for a thirty years league 👏🏻
As someone from England, I mainly feel good things about the MLS. It will improve over time and it's nice to see Americans embracing the game that we grew up loving. The no relegation thing is the only thing which I find a bit odd.
Any MLS team would get rattled by a European team for example Newcastle would destroy any club in the MLS they are just way more competitive so yeh deal with it. Glory Glory ManUnited😈❤
Satierdeen as a Newcastle and Chicago Fire fan. I’d like to point out the following. 1. Newcastle lost at full strength to Sporting Kansas City in 2012. 2. Chicago was beating Man U’s starting 11 until we brought in the rookies to give them the experience. 3. Chicago, Toronto, NYCFC, and Cascadia would survive in the BPL. Not saying they’d win it, but they’d avoid relegation. Besides, if Leicester can pull a league win out if their ass after avoiding relegation, what’s that say about the quality of your league?
@@steviesoprano Yeah but that's just for the trophy. There should be a second league with promotion to the MLS and relegation from the MLS to said league.
Soccer isn't popular enough in the United States to allow for a financially viable pro/rel system. The second and third divisions in the united states are like non league level teams in England. They are largely semi pro and no team could financially survive going down a division, it would force them into insolvency.
Good luck MLS. Spread the beautiful game to the States and Canada. Get relegation/ promotion sorted and get NY Cosmos into the big time. Looking forward to LAFC starting next season
This video is sponsored by the league itself and Adidas. That is part of the problem. We Europeans mock clubs for selling themselves to corporations, its just not football. But when Bayern Munich do it, they can back that up with a rich history and continental success. I absolutely love that the sport is (seemingly) growing stateside, but its just not your culture. Hearing some of these fans is like listening to a white Irishman doing hardcore rap.
People have been playing it here forever, only difference is now people are watching it a lot more. The term “soccer mom” originated here for a reason. Just now the professional game is getting more popular. But I can understand from a Europeans perspective on how it can get cringe, the chanting is cringe, sometimes the way many teams try to copy Europe is very cringe. But it’s interesting how MLS is combining the game and American sport culture. I think people should be happy professional soccer is getting very popular here not annoyed or whatever. Just realized you commented this 3 years ago.
The MLS is not scum it's just boring, the Liga MX is way better all the way .... Tigres, Xolos,Monterrey,Pachuca,Chivas, etc so far Liga Mx is better in Concacaf
Lord Loss Though I can't deny the history of Mexican clubs winning the CCL , this year could be different. I am not aware if you watch MLS since you find it boring but this years TFC is a record setting team that can match up man for man against any Mexican side. You might be in for a surprise. The only problem is that it is played during MLS preseason.
Agreed. I also dont really like how modern all the logos and names are. Like why do we all need a mascot in the name. Not really a big deal, just kind of puts me off. Also there is almost no local football which needs to be fixed if football will actually grow.
Robin J710 Listen, you don't have to like the MLS. As an American, I admit our level of play is nowhere near over in Europe, but for me, it's still a fun league to watch. Again, you don't have to enjoy it, but don't spoil our fun.
I've been to the US and watched two MLS games, back in 2010. The first was Philadelphia Union against the NYRB and the second, RBNY v The Revolution. Me and my mates have an affinity to Philadelphia through personal relationships and so we chose the Union as our North American club. While the supporter culture I witnessed did nothing for me, I recognised it was different and the football was good enough that I enjoyed my two game experience. Union won 2-1 from memory and the NYRB v NER is a distant memory and forgotten game. I'm a West Ham supporter from London and my only real football passion. I live and breath West Ham (or 'am in Cockney) and it becomes part of day to day existence. Those outside of it never understand. But supporter culture is miles apart as it is from any other major football country. Good luck to the MLS, especially Philly Union. Look forward to that friendly game in the future.
MLS is growing and I like it. It's exciting USA and Canada can share feelings and emotions with other countries thanks to the soccer. Greetings from Spain, Europe.
If you came out to a game than I think you would feel differently. Also it's not like we're born into a team. For instance there are multiple clubs in London. If someone lives in Montana than who are they going to support?
Instead of pulling the sympathy card, showing a inferiority complex and talking about how you don't care what anyone thinks of the league nor American soccer DESPITE SHOWING OTHERWISE, why don't the league just prove it. Until MLS rivalries develop more and grow history, it's not going to be a big deal. I'm not talking about history as in using a recycled one from a previous first division league like Seattle versus Portland. I'm talking about a consistent rivalry that stretches out through decades nonstop. Right now, all of the MLS rivalries are over hyped and lack real hatred in it. Furthermore, the league's marketing of it makes it look gimmicky. Rivalry week? Really? MLS is not even trying to hide their marketing strategy, but it's still hidden good enough for their passionate fans to be blind towards it. Rivalries are one of the things that draw lots of interest in many sporting events. MLS sees that and is trying to mimic it for marketing reasons. MLS clubs don't have rivalries because of the passion nor hatred each team have for one another, but for the profit values of it through ratings and ticket sales. Fans get invested into what they feel is a rivalry and what they really get is a normal soccer match with a few weak hits here and there. The fans are the ones that put in most of the work to make it look like a rivalry in the end and even that's weak. I see fans wanting a rivalry for the sake of having a rivalry.
Walter Siu very true. Both matches are equivalent. Considering it's gonna be a home match for us I'm more hyped about Sunday's match. Btw y'all played us well on Wednesday.
Nah, let's not sugarcoat it. We played like crap. Only reasons you guys didn't get all 3 points was Ousted and Davies. Hope you guys end up with a draw. :)
Walter Siu pfff in your dreams man. Portscum is coming to our house without adi. So that's a huge gain for us. Plus we'll see you next month here at Clink.
Austin vs Columbus snake derby needs to be a thing owner of austin (anthony precourt) used to own columbus and tried to move it, long story short the state threatened to sue mls into the ground and the league decided to give precourt a new franchise and sell the columbus team. an unknown columbus supporter flew a plane over austin’s new stadium on their first match stating, “precourt is a snake” many of the columbus chants still end with “fuck you precourt” and “fuck you precourt, we are the crew”
+AG O That’s only still a bitter rivalry in the minds of Rangers fans... Celtic are more worried about how they do in the Champions League each season than about beating Rangers
English fan here: Both the NY clubs in this are so fucking corporate and manufactured. Cosmos deserve to be in that league far more than either of them plastic clubs do. The Cascadia rivalries look good though, quality fan culture and looks a lot of fun. The Toronto-Montreal rivalry shoulda been mentioned, one of the few real deep-rooted rivalries in the MLS that transcends football. Also, if Americans want to know why we struggle to respect your league, I went to an MLS game last year, and not just any, it was a play-off between Montreal and NYRB, hardly some meaningless game, and the attendance was dire (like 20% of the stadium at most). Until this is sorted out (which in all fairness it does seem to be changing), Europeans are really gonna struggle to look at your league as anything other than a corporate, manufactured and plastic league. Also the absolute nerve to compare seeing the birth of NYCFC - a club manufactured by a large corporate entity and immediately put into the top league because money - to the birth of a club like Liverpool - a club made by local working class people in their own neighbourhood to represent their community - is beyond a joke.
MLS is a pay-to-play league. If you want a club, it's a $100M+ entry fee. As romantic as it is to have a club start from the ground up like in Europe, it's not the American dream. Get rich quick!
A Red Bull supporter calling another team 'plastic'? That's a ridiculous level of lack of self-awareness.
NYCFC is a plastic team
Nearly every MLS team is a plastic team lol
The whole mls is a plastic league made out of marketing and consumers
It’s another corporation
No culture for the sport, no history, no identity some clubs even want to change cities due to lack of support
There are a few cringy chants, but also some absolute beauties, like Real Salt Lake's Believe chant.

Well said mate.
How can New York Red Bull despise New York City FC for buying their way into the league? Are they oblivious to the existence of other Red Bull sides?
evan NYRB was originally the NewYork/NewJersey Metrostars.
Kemarinhoo Look at your average attendance then look at NYC. Enough said. NJ IS RED
@@supersun0079 RBA average attendance is 19,000 where as NYCFC average attendance is between 20,000 to 25,000 on both baseball stadiums I wouldn't brang about it
I feel a relegation and promotion system would make the rivalries ever more exciting.
Also I’m not a fan of the derby trophy thing but yah I’m glad the MLS is being very original in its system.
Bayern_Lover22 3 dud hell yes
Andrew Yeah that derby trophy thing is pretty american. The same happens in college football. I'm of the thinking that if it doesn't hurt the game, it's cool
I used to thought like that. But considering they have to pay $200++ million for expansion fee and built football specific stadium. The pro-rel were still far away. But in the other side, without pro-rel this league will always be a joke
@@ryanfebrianto8973 a joke???? Lmao, just a because it isn't pure-Euro doesn't mean its bad!
Football is a global sport and thats what makes it beautiful. Thats why I've got no time for people degrading the MLS and Football in America. From a british man , keep doing what you're doing America. As long as the fans believe in the club, the MLS will one day reach the heights of football.
Thank You from a Hard Core MLS Fan. We do believe and were are getting stronger every year.
im also british, wolves fan lol gotta be said, and I keep up with the MLS week in week out and I love it. now all I want is the best for the mls and usmnt (usmnt cos I love it when us football haters get proven wrong)
Being there at the beginning of history, never thought about that before. Pretty awesome
WOLVES WWFC1887 respect bro! Been a Columbus Crew SC supporter since 2011 and a U.S MNT fan also since 2011
I dont think the mls is that bad, the playoff system is shit and the defence is as bad as Liverpool's sometimes (I support them incase u didnt know) but some of the attacking players that ive seen are pretty good
Damn, not a single mention of the Toronto-Montreal rivalry? One of the most heated in the league that is one of the few that is actually rooted in differences in culture, not to mention geography and politics? Hope we get some coverage on that soon!
Lol also not made up by MLS. Toronto has hated Montreal for decades
T tba Exactly! Strange to highlight fabricated rivalries over one of the few TRUE rivalries that has existed between two cities before the MLS was even a league!
Honestly
Rabona TV I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!
Lies again? Business Trips Ezlink Card
If you're a football fan you would be encouraging this not trying to knock the league down sure it might not be the best but it has improved and it will continue to improve
LucasXL well said!
LucasXL MLS is not football tho...it’s soccer.
M football, soccer same shit. We love our league.
LucasXL finally, thank you.
MLS is trying to force rivalries and it isn't working, let them happen on their own
Yeah, it's quite sad
So many haters😂 I love it. That's how u know we're doing something right when people hate on "forced rivalries"
+Rob S Ass munch, there are plenty rivalries in the NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB. The competiveness tends to cover an array of demographics.
I'm from America and I agree. Although the Cascadia cup has already happened on its own pretty much. That goes back several decades before MLS was even founded.
MTL vs Tor is a real rivalry not just at soccer/Hockey but the cities themselves.
Sorry but a football league without relegation does not feel right to me. It's a handout league. You can only win something and not lose anything. That's not football. In football you also need the pain of losing something.
dramatish and if their was a relegation they would have more teams wanting to win the league for once and not have the same teams versing each other every year
TheDevilsMessenger4 um guessing ur about 6
dramatish so? its much funner to watch mls than liga bayern munich... Oops i mean bundesliga.
DCUnderdog3000 its because they struggle kicking the ball
just face it no one gives a shit about the mls it’s where are players retire because of the nice weather and it’s not that good a league since players who can no longer perform well enough in our leagues go to the mls so it’s time for the mls to stop thinking it’s the shit cuz no one gives a shit about it and no team will ever be better than Europe teams because there is no trophy to be won which matters unlike champions league premier league
That's different to promotion/relegation. You can still have that and also have a fair financial regulation.
Question, are college/university sports a big deal in the UK like over here, or no?
i am Argentinian,. I was in Portland for work and went to see the timbers. They really left me a great impression.
You dont get respected by shouting "Respect me!". I think its great what they are doing but stop comparing them to europe.
Reece Morrison we'll stop copying us British then
Craig Miller lmao! in what way do we copy the british?
Craig Miller I mean. Most of those white people are descendent of English people. ENGLABD BLEW A 13 COLONY LEAD. We ended you guys and we'll gladly do it in sports. Just like the first time. It takes time.
Europe: Big teams buying leagues.
MLS: Salary cap. Competitive league. Struggles internationally.
@@luisrosales9349 Never will that happen in football. MLS is full of players who have retired and its too competitive. No clubs getting relegated etc. I mean your national team is in shambles losing to the worst teams in the world.
New york derby: derby between an energy drink and an stupid commercial middle-eastern football group
@@jamisbillson4872 football violence was born in italy in the 80's. There was a lot of trouble in that period
Mohamed Haiqel they have no money
Mohamed Haiqel that team has died twice no fans second division football they’re players wont last in the top flight
+Mohamed Haiqel
I hope that when NASL folds they bring NY Cosmos to MLS, or at least to USL...
They play in a stadium with like 5k seats
I don't see people saying liga mx is terrible
as an MLS fan And liga MX fan I don't get it either
Wally West because yh but there actually good
Wally West because some teams dont deserve to be in the playoffs, a team that has less points than another team in a different conference somehow makes it to playoffs, not fair for the teams
Wally West cause the mx has proper passion and great fans
Wally West Liga MX has the same level of quality but has a much higher level of passion from the fans.
Why do people hate on MLS sure it's not the best league in the world but football is a global game
Robin Willmann that’s not true Bayern Munich , in Europe it’s basically all the elitist football teams winning the champions league.
We need promotion/relegation in the US. There's no reason the NY Cosmos shouldn't have an opportunity to play in the MLS.
Colby Denton They were offered the opportunity on two separate occasions and turned it down.
Why do they need relegation? Show your work.
Because otherwise teams have nothing to lose, if you finish bottom every year and don't lose anything teams won't care as much
That doesn't appear to have led the four major North American sports into disaster and apathy.
As a europian guy i like the fact that Footbal/soccer is getting bigger in the US. It's great to see the sport grow!
You can't CREATE real rivalries...
Renko the Cascadia derbys have been around since 1974..
I remember when they tried to force Toronto FC vs Montreal Impact, now after the 2016 season the rivalry is true, now it is no longer forced.
Renko I find it funny how New York City was built and people actually left red bulls to support city and now the same snakey supporters are cheering on city at derbys lol
Hudson River Rivalrys have existed in both professional and non professional (college) sports for decades.
that's cute. the merseyside derby's been around since 1892. were you lot even a country then?

I'm not a MLS hater but u can't tell me the football is decent quality
Calibre of players yes, but tactically and intensity wise I'd say a lot of Asian leagues are better
Zadkovich Raj oh come on, they aren't that bad
I'm not sure about that
The defence across the league is lacking and most of the time it's depending on raw talent
Even Howard can't save Rapid's non-existant defence line
where do you live in europe? malta? most MLS teams couldn't even make it in the championship...
that's definitely a lie you know its fucking shit
"Original 96" wow steeped in history

My club was already 110 yrs old. Fuck sake
Thanks for making this video. Even if it's sponsored by adidas and the MLS
I went to the Portland Seattle game in Seattle and is was incredible.
As where in the mls 12 teams make the playoffs, thus making the regular less important.
good point. i didn't even realise you didn't have relegation/promotion. where are the stakes!?
That's not really true
Wow. That is why Ghana knocked you out of the World Cup in 2006. I feel sorry for Pulisic. Your comment does not have logic.
It's good to see soccer growing in the USA and starting to take off. With a team or teams in each state will accelerate this.

Greetings from Germany, Cologne!
I love watching L.A.F.C , Portland , Seattle . Atlanta . KC , Galaxy , Austin . Fans are amazing .
Delcio Acosta clearly an American channel? Check the description, this is Copa90. I don't subscribe to Copa90US, for obvious reasons.
If only there was a way in which you did not have to watch videos and matches that you didn't want to watch....
Even the Japanese league is better
I came here to read the many positive comments from people around the world who are happy that the beautiful game is growing in the US and Canada.
The massive rivalries in the mls show how the league is growing. Across the west cost, across the east coast in particular. And rivalries in canada and texas where people go crazy. we need to admit that the mls is growing big time

Devin Darley 😂😂 you haven't got a clue!

Just because people don't act like hooligans doesn't mean its not a rivalry. I know the knuckledraggers in Oxford are incapable of understanding that.
KingShadow11 being from the usa... No
Derby v Nottingham Forest have a cup too ( Brian Clough cup)
Great video! Please make an updated version with the new "Battle of Los Angeles: El Tráfico" rivalry. Also, no TFC/Impact mention?
Galaxy rivaly lives up to the hype.
dude, you can't even fucking spell "derby". the fucking irony...
Tom well my bad thanks for pointing that out!

A League without relegations isn't even a REAL league, it is bulshit!
There a dozens of leagues with no relegation.
Snowblind lol like which ones? only unimportant leagues don't have the relegation system
Which ones?
Snowblind that is just not true
Jared Raymer You are totally right and anyway that is not the North american way, in Europe people only breath soccer (or football if you want) and a bit about Rugby, so they will still support the team if it's relegated. In north america people do not care about only 1 sport, depending on the areas we care about 4 major sports more than soccer, Football (american), Basket ball, Hockey and Baseball. Relegations would never work because as soon as a team would get relegated a lot of people would stop to care about it and go back watching the other 4 sports.
First of ya call it soccer....came talk to me when you call it football...until then ya scam to me

A retirement league, huh?
Mesut Özil exactly. They see that Kaka plays here and immediately say no to all the talent from around the world who are nurtured on our academies and then play in Europe.
Because the MLS has a limit on DP's ;)
it's because the good players are really old
Itz evil Not at all
Mesut Özil those 25 yeras old cant compete an actual big competition
I really hope the plans for MLS Miami expansion take place. Probably one of the largest Latin American populations in the United States and we could have a chance to channel that intense passion we have for our clubs back home. No doubt a Miami-Orlando rivalry would match any of these. Who needs a second LA club when one of the largest potential markets for a club is still untapped.
Cool to see this going on i love seeing football growing all over america & canada long may it continue #greatvideo
Anyone here after us failed to qualify?
Yeeeeeeaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh...that Portland/Seattle rivalry has been since 1975, way before mls. The rivalry with Vancouver is a friendly rivalry, because we both hate Seattle. #ACES

Not heard of the _The Brian Clough Trophy_ for Derby County vs N***s F****t matches then.
Is no one going to talk about how well made this video is??
I have been watching MLS for a few years now, and it's getting so much better than what it used to be
How can people support artificial teams created by investors and companies?
it boggles the mind. same with RB Leipzig in Germany, to be fair. another plastic, fake, corporate team.
Or Man City
I support my local team (LA Galaxy) because it is the place I've grown up, and I don't care who funds them, as long as I get to watch them play and support them with my fellow LA residents.
Every club is artificial when it's created. How could it not be? Did you find yours growing out in the woods?
Enigmatic In defense of RB Leipzig, they won promotion from Germany's lower leagues, unlike these new MLS teams that didn't have to win a place in their league.
Besides it's not like RB Leipzig is any worse than any of the big name clubs in Europe, which the majority have big corporations behind them- just like RB Leipzig.
So stop with the "pot calling the kettle black".
No DC United? LA Galaxy? The 2 most historical MLS clubs?
#EmptySeatsGalore
Tinpot clubs
LA is so overrated.
And Sporting KC we have a lot of history and always have done pretty well, we have a big rivalry with Houston also
JPBrown22 they have the most trophies. Overrated my ass
I do not understand how most European football fans can express so much hatred for American soccer
Do you honestly think that if the only football leagues were in Europe, you could call the beautiful game a GLOBAL sport?

Jack Harrison, for whatever reason, has been my favorite player for a long time. I don't know why, but I just love everything about him.
If you support a team from a different country to your own you have no right to call MLS fans plastic.
If you came to one of the NY derby games, you would know the hatred between the teams.
Apple Pie FC Just because there is hate doesn't mean there is meaning to the rivalry. They just hate eachother for the fun of it. It's not like european rivalries where there is history and actual reasons to dislike the other team.
We hate each other because we’re rivals
Boston and NYC
What creates rivalries is relegation and promotions, regional classics and real competition. You can't fabricate it...when a team loose to another get relegated, congratulations, you just earned a 100 years rivalry. Good luck from Brazil, you are doing great for a thirty years league 👏🏻
As someone from England, I mainly feel good things about the MLS. It will improve over time and it's nice to see Americans embracing the game that we grew up loving. The no relegation thing is the only thing which I find a bit odd.
Derby county and Forrest have the Brian clough trophy for our rivalry, shows how much they actually know about football.
They've all got nothing on the old firm. Best derby in the world by far!
Any MLS team would get rattled by a European team for example Newcastle would destroy any club in the MLS they are just way more competitive so yeh deal with it.
Glory Glory ManUnited😈❤
MLS has a salary cap, don't forget that basically every PL team budget is 20x that of an MLS team
Satierdeen ha! The SJ earthquakes would destroy Newcastle weak ass 😂
Derp Herp still would love to be on what their on 😂 kaka earning like 5 million but obviously not much compared to other leagues
The premier leagues better at everything fans history quality get over it
Satierdeen as a Newcastle and Chicago Fire fan.
A league without pro rel is nothing more than bush league with no competing.
You don’t understand conferences and playoff spot fighting then.
4:48 Midwesterner here, no one gives a shit about New York, in terms of MLS, it’s all about LA...
League has room to grow
UNTIL YOU HAVE RELEGATION AND PROMOTION, YOU ARE NOT A REAL LEAGUE
Not having relegation means you can have salary cap.
Considering the joke that has become competitiveness in european football, I aint mad at that.
i guess liga MX isn't a real league either then
Smith Kraft mx does relegate you idiot
Someone finally gets it
Admiral Ackbar yes they do, only 1 team gets relegated
As someone who lives in the Seattle area, the Sounders are fun games to go to, but the fans are so Cringe tbh. Same with Portland.
European football is more entertaining to watch . In America is a sport. Outside the usa football /soccer is a way of life .
Off topic, but where is that soccer field in the first 3 seconds? The one located on the water.
its actually brooklyn bridge park
Pier 5 in Brooklyn
@@brandobabini5198 I play there occasionally for fun 😂😂😂
The MLS is not scum it's just boring, the Liga MX is way better all the way .... Tigres, Xolos,Monterrey,Pachuca,Chivas, etc so far Liga Mx is better in Concacaf
Dude mls has done somethimg in 10 years that took liga mx 60 years to do. We are still a young league.
Rob Roux TFC might win CCL this year
Agreed. I also dont really like how modern all the logos and names are. Like why do we all need a mascot in the name. Not really a big deal, just kind of puts me off. Also there is almost no local football which needs to be fixed if football will actually grow.
And the argentine super ligue, the brazilian primera, the colombian league, and the libertadores are all better but we aint showing off so chill mate
I can't help but laugh at the MLS
Everyone laughs at you!
Robin J710 Listen, you don't have to like the MLS. As an American, I admit our level of play is nowhere near over in Europe, but for me, it's still a fun league to watch. Again, you don't have to enjoy it, but don't spoil our fun.
I can't help but laugh you. Did you just hate in a league you know nothing about? RJ7102000
There's no mention of any MLS games in Europe 😂
These American soccer fans are the most artificial fan bases I've seen in sports and this is coming from an american
If you came out to a game than I think you would feel differently. Also it's not like we're born into a team. For instance there are multiple clubs in London. If someone lives in Montana than who are they going to support?
Instead of helping the sport grow into something special, you're here spreading negativity. Congrats for contributing f*ck all
Instead of pulling the sympathy card, showing a inferiority complex and talking about how you don't care what anyone thinks of the league nor American soccer DESPITE SHOWING OTHERWISE, why don't the league just prove it.
Can’t have decades of history in a league that isn’t decades old. Give it time, it is already rising fast
As a Atlanta United fc fan we can bring energy that won us the MLS cup in 2018 we have rivals along the crescent region
passion is everything in football and these fans have it in spades respect from a la liga fan
0:29 copies every english song in existance

Seattle vs Portscum on Sunday, can I get a HELL YEAH!
You gotta go through us first. We're going to make sure you won't be declaring 3 points at the border.

Austin vs Columbus snake derby needs to be a thing
owner of austin (anthony precourt) used to own columbus and tried to move it, long story short the state threatened to sue mls into the ground and the league decided to give precourt a new franchise and sell the columbus team.
an unknown columbus supporter flew a plane over austin’s new stadium on their first match stating, “precourt is a snake”
many of the columbus chants still end with “fuck you precourt” and “fuck you precourt, we are the crew”
If you want a rivalry go to the old firm
There is no old firm.
+AG O
That’s only still a bitter rivalry in the minds of Rangers fans... Celtic are more worried about how they do in the Champions League each season than about beating Rangers
Its probably one of the worst derbys these days. Boring play style and a almost obvious result.
When there is a Copa 90 US channel, the European one talks about MLS
English fan here:
Both the NY clubs in this are so fucking corporate and manufactured.
@@goatscansing the exact reason my club will never be in the MLS it costs 100mil my club barely has 10
If you are not chatting shit about some player's mother or sister, then it's not a rivalry.
