"That's why pedophilia is so attractive to me." That's the poorest choice of words ever to be said on a stream. Edit: I didn't put this at first because I didn't intend to spark such a conversation, I was simply making a joke, but here's the timestamp: 23:09.
Holyshit that was terrifying. Throughout this whole debate I was slowly backing away in terror and ended up in the corner on the ceiling like a spider. And then you pulled the plug on him and gravity came back and I hit the floor. He didn't want a debate in the first place, only validation he doesn't deserve.
Throughout the call every time mrgirl said something creepy in the strangest moments it felt like I was listening to a reading of a scary story. A train wreck that you can't help but watch. And then at the end it was almost like a climax of a story. And unfortunately, it really feels like the guy was getting off to it like Louis CK in a potted plant. I'm glad Vaush pulled the plug there cause he seemed to be building up to more. It felt like he was trying to groom an audience or sexually harass the audience. It almost feels evident that his defense of nazis and slave owners and pedophilia is all an attempt at covertly convincing someone that these are acts that should be tolerated.
You can make fun of this guy all you want, but in another universe he debated Hitler out of the Holocaust and convinced him to draw kitty postcards as profession.
The last third/half of this conversation is what will forever fester in our memories, but can we all appreciate how this guy's alternative plan to end slavery and the Holocaust would have been to VERY POLITELY debate-bro plantation owners and Hitler? Somehow, I wasn't as sold on the idea as he was.
Maybe if my ancestors asked their slave owners to PRETTY PLEASE let them go and if all all slaves asked politely then maybe we could've avoided the civil war.
The people who were shot in the fields or thrown into the chaimbers all begged the nazis to stop. They pleeded with crying eyes. It is so sad that my eyes start to water while writing this. But the nazis didnt stop. No matter how many millions they killed, they never stopped. And this guy wanted to frame it in such a way as if that all could have been avoided by simply debateing or humanizing people. I want to throw up. I was born in and live in germany. Never again.
And it’s to “avoid death” but how many enslaved people would die, how many acts of brutality would they endure, in the decades it would take for that to work?
It’s just as ignorant one can be from privilege. Thinking oh if only this group sought and achieved justice through less violent means….when that violence is self defence and happened only after it was the only option worth to try, who gives a shit about violence when it comes to fighting for human rights anyway. Such a braindead position to hold, most civil rights movements were only successful due to using violence unfortunately.
The pure, unadulterated shock on Vaush face when this guy says pedophilia is attractive to him is just pure gold. This guy couldn't have phrased that any worse, holy shit.
That's what annoys me about him the most. He's beeing very obviously creepy and terrible and then in the middle of him addmitting some r4p€y/p€d0 shit he did, he just makes jokes or says something trollish (like at the end here with the color of the underwear), like he's talking to some audience that he expects to agree with him mosty. He's a total narcissist.
This just confirms my believe that centrists are idiots willing to enable actually bad people like Nazis, just because they are aware enough to realize being a Nazi is bad, but not actually disagreeing.

People who think this is a "self-report" are closed-minded as hell, too afraid to confront the flaws of the human condition, terrified to admit we are all materially the same. You can't even have conversation much less think about these issues, so how will you contribute to combat them? If you treat certain human actions as sub-human you leave society wide open for those very actions to grow.
This is mad. Every time Vaush asks him to say specifically what his approach would be he goes into a defensive rant about being put in a box. He has no concept of the real world outside his abstract "everything should be perfect or its morally bad" framework. What in the hell has broken this guys brain? Edit: Ok I just got to the part where he tries to "thought experiment" child exploitation and argue theres no harm. What in the everloving f*ck...
The internet. The pedagogy of the damned. Too much information for people to even extrapolate from properly, without a lot of strenuous effort: and then, this guy is like...he's clearly got real issues, and therefore, he is putting a and b together: information, lots of it, and then as someone else in the comments said, reaction formation. Oof.
And suddenly it becomes clear why he didn't want to get specific to avoid getting put in a box. That's just a way of saying he doesn't want to be labelled as what he is, because he fears the consequences of his ideas, but wants to have them and act on them free of social repercussions.
I love how in his hypothetical where he tried to give an example of "no-one getting hurt", he used spy cameras on unknowing, underaged girls as his example. Like, he couldn't fathom that something could be predatory if the victims remained unaware. His thought process is... truly something.
@@Gingersnaps_the_pumpkin_kitty yep, reminded me of Doe's abuse example in her "debate" with RGR. This guy is the definition of 'intellectually useless'. No prescriptions, no constructive critiques, but endless 'i'm not sure if that was the best idea'. Gets immediately frustrated when made to answer for his bellyaching. Edit: And like all intellectually useless people, the 'all ideas are equally valid' is a facade for something far, far more sinister, as the end of this debate has revealed.
@@shockshplock3480 Not sure if you understood my point so I'll clarify with an example -- he makes the broad claim "I don' think violence was needed to end slavery", and when he's asked "what could we have done differently", rather than even so much as address the question, he cowers away and says "see I don't think that's a fair question." It's belief without justification, which is insane. Even a person who believes in a deity entirely through faith will still have an answer to "Why do you believe this." -- Faith. He won't even answer it. He's AFRAID to answer it. And considering his beliefs on p-philia, I can see why he's conditioned himself into refusing to answer even a basic question like that.
The way he tries to speak calmly at first at the beginning of each argument and gets very clearly frustrated when asked to actually explain his thought process gives off a ton of red flags by itself
The BEST faith thing you could say about that tendency is that he himself hasn't actually thought about any of his own arguments/positions and he's frustrated trying to do for the first time on the spot with his poor social skills. *The BEST faith.*
It’s hilarious he just wants to be agreed with and when he actually has to think about the applications of this thought process he thinks vaush is trying to trick him when he’s really just explaining common sense lmao
And the end of this debate was "So hypothetically speaking... what would be the most popular color of scjlhasdjklhasd." Jesus Christ, even attempting to write that line makes me feel sick.
I had an ego death on LSD and MDMA and it really helped me gain more empathy, and I understand why this man is saying what he's saying and he's a huge problem. He's trying to find the humanity in the darkest recesses of the human mind. I can understand why racists are racist or why Hitler did what he did, but I'm not empathetic to their cause, because their cause was retarded.
@@superkoopatrooper4879 C'mon, man. OP was LITERALLY talking about seeing where someone is coming from without having any empathy for their cause. "Uhh, self-report much?" is literally the dumbest thing you could've replied with.
He's using that exact tactic with pedophilia because he's trying to soften minds to it. I could be convinced that he is just using slavery and nazis as an argument to translate to pedophilia, that is to say I could be convinced he's not a nazi or pro slavery. I couldn't be convinced however that he's not trying to groom thousands of people to be more like him towards underage girls.
@@superkoopatrooper4879I can empathize that a MAGA Trump supporter feels left behind or abandoned by government. I can empathize with a racist who’s racism is based on decades of fear-based propaganda that has caused them to favor whiteness over any other skin tone. I can empathize with the fact that they’re ignorant and that they’re living their life the way they were taught and that confronting those beliefs and teachings is something that would be uncomfortable and frightening to them. I cannot, and will not, empathize with their choice to continue that ignorance. I cannot and will not empathize with their refusal to accept facts or new information that directly proves their ignorance. I cannot and will not empathize with their hatred and desire to persecute people based on immutable, un-changeable physical or biological differences. None of that is “self reporting”. Its using empathy to understand a person without supporting or agreeing with them. I can, and I will, hate them for the things they CHOOSE to do. For my protection and for the protection of others whom they seek to harm.
The irony is that this guy thinks he's found the cure for extremism, but the fact is he's just an ideological extremist of a different stripe. Yes, empathy is good, that doesn't alter the fact that some ideas are so foundationally broken as to not warrant empathy; merely correction. Two plus two does not equal five and nothing is gained by trying to empathize with a person who argues that it does.
There’s cognitive empathy and affective empathy where the first is understanding why someone believes the ideologies they believe and exercise patterns of behavior and the latter is feeling and connecting with their ideas and patterns of behavior. I’m all for the primary and none for the latter when it comes to impulsive incendiary groups like white supremacists and fascists. The guest would see a person with Lyme disease and he like “I understand the position of the parasite and giving doxycycline would be detrimental!”
His claims about slavery and the holocaust & the importance of empathizing with oppressors was pretty clearly a projection of his beliefs about child abusers. If a child abuser is rightfully hated by greater society, and he thinks that they shouldn't be, then he's going to sympathize with other oppressors that are also rightfully hated. I doubt he actually worries himself with the casualties of the Civil War or WWII or the injustices of antisemitism or slavery. He simply wants oppressive and predatory people of all stripes to be accepted, so that he can avoid stigmatization or prosecution himself.
This guy is extreeemely careful with his language. You can tell he reeeally tries to get people to be "open minded" towards him, and that he's reeeally afraid of stating his digusting beliefs about slavery and p*dophilia.

So im not finished the video but to a certain extent he is correct. From a purely moral neutral standpoint those two are indistinguishable. You can make up a bunch of reasons on why its ok to hate people for ideologies and not on the basis of race but when it comes down to it there is no reason that isn't self serving and emotionally based.
The argument he's making is that being socially conditioned to hate people is bad, not that being a nazi is good or being black/Jewish is bad. Understanding why people start believing in white nationalist ideology is important and is hampered by blind hatred, Vaush talks about this when he talks about "The Pipeline" - your political views can be radically different depending on what content you consume.
The first 3/4 of the debate was awkward but that last run was extremely uncomfortable and creepy. Why the hell would I want to imagine a hypothetical state where infants are strippers

This guy should be a case study in the reality that civility politics is just nonsense... He has single-handedly demonstrated that you can say the worst things while maintaining that air of "civility"
Last week I watched Sydney Watson smile and tell known Nazi, Nick Fuentes, "I have to say you've been very civil, you're very polite," not five minutes after he told her that, in his ideal society, all her rights would be stripped from her, and we'd treat women much the same way they do in Afghanistan. Civility politics is indeed a potent and deadly mind poison.
Agreed. Civility is disagreeing on methods of implementing a policy that all sides agree on is the way forward. There's no need for civility when one side is actively promoting racist, bigoted or economically harmful policies. There's no need to be nice to someone holding fascist views, especially if they're doing it with malice. You can sometimes make an argument that some folks just don't know their position is harmful and those folks need to be talked down off that ledge, but that doesn't include folks like Trump or most of the GOP. They know what they're doing and are happy to promote garbage politics and deserve no civility. I don't really care how much they try to tone police to try and look like they aren't.
@@heavysystemsinc. The problem is much of america (especially boomers) torpedo candidates that aren't "civil" to a disgusting degree, especially on the left.

At first I thought that this guy was politically paralyzed by empathy, but by the end wow this guy is off the rails. The second half could've been quickly over with "these desires are harmful, however the people who have them are victims of their own desires and we need to empathize with their struggles in order to help them find help and maximize the number of people we protect instead of demonizing them and leaving them to their own vices." but no this guy got real invested in this "hypothetical".
Well said. He's jus into talking about things without ever taking a stand. He exists totally in his own mind. I can only imagine what his personal relationships are like.
I think we make a mistake when talking about empathy. We describe empathy as kind of a moral thing, but really empathy is a practical thing ie its a simple as being able to imagine how other people might see things. There's nothing inherently moral about this, but it is certainly practical to know how others might see things (and this can be used for good or bad).

@@themachine5647 Well, while I'll agree that there is this problem, there ARE times where actual philosophers will question things like the age of consent and use hypotheticals to do it... I think David Archard does it in a book he's done on the philosophy of childhood (which was a class I took recently) and there's a chapter from it titled "Children's Rights to Vote and Sexual Choice"... What we focused on was his arguments for lowering the voting age since that was a big part of the class, but he does go on to discuss his views on the other part of it... I can't be certain that he is in favor of lowering the age of consent, but judging by his favorable views on the voting age being lowered and the part of the text discussing it which my professor crossed out (but it's still readable, though I'm missing quite a lot of it) I think he might be in favor of it... Either way, this IS still something that philosophers question especially given how 18 is a number chosen very arbitrarily... I kind of wonder if Shulamith Firestone would've been in favor of lowered age of consent since she was very against any other sort of restrictions on children I can think of... Perhaps also Toby Rollo? Idk, I can only guess based on their views when it comes to voting and how they arrive at their conclusion... Anyway, I feel like there is the problem though where you have these Amos Yee types of people who will defend those positions and their internal thoughts in doing so are pretty clear just based on how they go about arguing for the positions... It's not really like how people who are JUST interested in it from a philosophical perspective are... Not sure how I'd describe it... I guess it's more like, they try to justify it in a moral way to perhaps reconcile their own feelings about it? Whereas the more philosophy-minded person doesn't really need to reconcile anything about it for themselves... And parsing out which is which can be difficult EXCEPT when they also go making songs about it with those sorts of lyrics as well as comments like that one he made immediately before Vaush hung up on him... I feel like those two things (which a surprising amount of Amos Yee type people do, although idk if Amos Yee did music) are pretty good giveaways as to which category they fit into...
"You are failing to understand my philosophy." "Ok what is your philosophy?" "Look stop trying to pin me down with though questions." I don't think this guy actually talked about anything at all or is capable to do so.
This guy is so aggressively committed to being "anti-dogma" that he refuses to adopt any beliefs that could have any impact in the world whatsoever. I agree groupthink and dogmatism are bad, but the solution isn't to just treat every single idea as though they're equally valid, regardless of the evidence or impact.
As horrendous as this "debate" was, I think keeping it up with proper context is good. This shows categorically that radical centrism, civility politics and whataboutism can be used to hide some absolutely horrific takes, and how to spot them.
Radical centrism can be a form of authoritarianism. Authoritarians often want a set of socially acceptable norms that they can act within because they lack other means of distinguishing right from wrong. Centrism provides an alternative to having an autocrat when you're living in a pluralistic society.
This dude: "Sure, owning slaves is bad, but it's not fair to dehumanize or kill the slave owners! We need to be KIND and EMPATHETIC uwu" * completely ignores the death, suffering, and dehumanization inherent in systemic slavery * ...and it went dramatically downhill from there
So this guy's whole deal was that he "cares for" the worst possible opinions, only vaguely critique progressive social events as "could've been done better" and when you try and get any specifics from him he gets angry and deflects
Yep, guy running interference for the far right, in terms of "if the North was nicer to the slave owners/west was more polite to Hitler, we would have avoided war, so the blood is on the hands solely of the Libs". Just dont call me a racist, then I will be offended".
"Now, freeing the slaves didn't go that well." "I think there are statistical and legitimate reasons to hate black people and jews." This was like watching a man desperately looking for the worst takes possible while a man desperately tries to save him from himself.
Freeing the slaves didn't go well at all, it was resolved via a fucking war. If you remove the "statistical" in the 2nd quote I agree, if someone is constantly having negative or violent experiences with black people that person has a legitimate reason to hate black people, this is built into every human. If you get stung by bees every time you go near one, do you still love bees and think they are friendly, or do you just swat them on sight?
Well, the “freeing of slaves” didn’t actually go that well. The Emancipation Proclamation didn’t break all the chains and let everyone go free, it only allowed the slaves that escaped capture and servitude to not be sold back after the fact. A later amendment to the constitution would dissolve slavery in the typical sense we currently view it as, but as a response, the South created prison laws that just created slavery again with extra steps.

You think it's a wild take to say you can't empathize with someone you hate? I agree that's false in a general sense, but hardly a wild take. It's absolutely possible to hate a person or group of people so much that you're no longer capable of empathizing with them. That's pretty common, actually.
The distinction between sympathy and empathy is that empathy takes a step beyond feeling sorry for a person, it involves relating to what they are going through... So technically, the only way you could really hate a Nazi and feel empathy for them is if you've experienced what it is like to be a Nazi or something similar to a Nazi, but have since changed your perspective to now one where you feel sorry for people who've fallen into that sort of ideology, but you also hate them as agents of that ideology... That's how I'd make sense of it anyway... I wouldn't say they're "mutually exclusive", but I also wouldn't say that it's possible without having been a Nazi or something similar technically, unless we went to using the word sympathy instead... This is why you shouldn't just rely on a thesaurus btw without a dictionary... Just because a word is synonymous with another does not mean it is interchangeable (and the context can change whether or not some words can be used interchangeably in a given place...) Love and worship I think are synonymous for example, and in some contexts they can be used in the same space to convey a similar idea fine, but in some contexts they are definitely not very interchangeable... One does not worship mother like one loves God... Unless the mother is a cult leader or something I guess...
I don't see how deeply empathisizing with pedophiles would make the world better. Like we all think they should get help but we're not gonna allow or forgive the abuse.

Holy shit I cannot believe how this ended. This was psychotic. Did Mr. Girl think he was being funny??? I am genuinely worried for the health of this guy, what the fuck is going on
The only part of this convo I agree with is what Vaush said at the end and I’ve argued with people about this before. The whole “let’s murder pedos” sentiment feels good but does nothing to help kids. It probably contributes to their harm because pedos are afraid to get help and so of them will eventually offend instead of getting help. I wouldn’t go nearly as far as this guy but I do think we should be trying to maximize the chance that this people get help rather than just trying to hide.
Yeah the sentiment of murdering pedophiles kind of assumes that it's not only an inevitability that they will exist in our society but that their systematic abuse of children is a given. If we would focus on preventing pedos from acting on their urges to begin with rather than murdering the ones who do and get caught, less children would be abused. And just to springboard off this point, the sentiment that pedophilia should ever be considered a sexual orientation is ludicrous. Pedophilia is rooted in the sexual gratification from abusing the vulnerable, a lot like rapists. Nobody would ever argue that rapists should have their own sexual definition so why should pedophiles?
@@HerrDurkslag You're all missing the deeper point, that got cut off by Vaush hanging up. Glad Mrgirl covered it in a response video on his channel, right after Vaush hung up. But unfortunately to anybody watching this stream, they lost out completely. Mrgirl was working his way to a deep uncomfortable truth... and I'm pretty sure Vaush was sensing that... so he hit the eject button, and then grandstanded in moral supremacy. Just looking at all these comments under this video, I am shocked at how shallow and sanitized people in this audience are. They couldn't compute and adult philosophical academic conversation such as this. A thought experiment. So they race to the bottom, in pure bad-faith convenience, and handwave everything away as "vile" and "disgusting" The greater point was going to be - that if open-season and legal, the 14 and 15 year old strip bars would be the most popular... the deep seated truth that most straight males need to analyze and accept is... that if offered a choice of a 20 year old and a 15 year old ... *THEY WOULD TAKE THE 15 YEAR OLD* Desert island. No laws. Two choices. The inconvenient truth that it's as innate as anything else, and what do we do about that fact? PS: "underage by law" is not the same as pedophilia. Pedophilia is kids. Typically pre-pubescent, and most often under 10. Nobody was talking about that. And yet, the Vaush audience is incapable of the correct context, the correct lens, and the correct level of analysis. All they comment on here is "creepiness" "vileness" "disgust" and everything the conversation was NOT. Projection. Feelings. Moral high horses. Back into the comfortable bubble. Dare not have the stones to open pandoras box, and stare at something that makes you uncomfortable. Especially when you know it's the truth.
@@HerrDurkslag I suppose the argument for colloquially referring to pedophilia, or a proclivity to rape or any paraphilia as sexual orientations, is to utilize the understanding that comes with the phrase and help people to understand that these are people that can be helped, and not necessarily people that have done something terrible yet. The term paraphilia is not in the general lexicon and thereby meaningless today. HOWEVER. The same utility would be gained from just bringing paraphilia into the general lexicon and further a greater understanding of other social disorders instead of the like 3 people know off hand today.

''I told you I was a care bear, HOW DARE YOU QUESTION ME??'' It is a common theme of predators to present themselves as chill, easy going and loving carebears. A mimicry of sympathy, which is likely why this person struggles so much defining what the word even means to him.
I have never in my life witnessed someone build such a strong and profound argument and then absolutely derail it this quick in my life. It's almost art. He started with comparing the rhetoric around BLM, Antifa and Fascists and when Vaush asked him how those are comparable he said we use the same rhetoric that is necessary to enable someone to kill another human. I was starting to dig it and then BAM "that's what I find so attractive about pedophilia." Now this is fucking content.
Right? There were a couple parts in the beginning I was kinda with him on, and then hit us with how he thinks it’s justifiable to hate black people and then this line. Like I get it, he’s speaking for other people’s experiences, but holy shit word choice my dude!
@@synlion Of course we're aware. He just worded it in such an awful and red flag raising way that it completely drowns his argument. Thing is, he didn't do that. Not to mention, his fixation on the whole "sovereign society secret strip club" idea and the color of children's underwear thing was disturbing at best and a major self report at worst. Joking-which is probably gonna be his excuse for that-or not, he didn't help his case with it.

If you know that he is being inflammatory, then what is preventing you from looking past it at what he’s actually saying? Also, yeah of course that was a joke. As cringe as his arguments were, there was a point he was making that is worth further consideration. His "strip club in a lawless society" analogy was just asking the very legitimate question: "what age female are the majority of American men most physically attracted to, if social and/or legal reprocussions do not influence choice?" Before I heard either of their answers I guessed 15, Vaush said somewhere between 14 and 17, the other guy said 15 or 16. I don't think we can say that the majority of American men are pedophiles or sexual predators even if we acknowledge this attraction. So what's going on? Their conversation never made it that far because Mr. Girl or whatever was super weird about it. But this is a conversation worth having, preferably with an individual who doesn't already have a reputation as a pedo, and is having the discussion in good faith.

I believe this is an accurate summarisation to them entire debate
In becoming so against taking any side, he becomes just as dogmatic as the next dogmatic person. Apathy is death.
As horrendous as this "debate" was, I think keeping it up with proper context is good. This shows categorically that radical centrism, civility politics and whataboutism can be used to hide some absolutely horrific takes, and how to spot them.
You're right.
It’s really revealing and necessary to see shit like this bc Jesus
The mention of Cuties at the start was some s-tier foreshadowing.
Radical centrism can be a form of authoritarianism. Authoritarians often want a set of socially acceptable norms that they can act within because they lack other means of distinguishing right from wrong. Centrism provides an alternative to having an autocrat when you're living in a pluralistic society.
That is true of everything. I hide anything anywhere. Throwing that at other parties is just to cover for yours.
This dude: "Sure, owning slaves is bad, but it's not fair to dehumanize or kill the slave owners! We need to be KIND and EMPATHETIC uwu"

So this guy's whole deal was that he "cares for" the worst possible opinions, only vaguely critique progressive social events as "could've been done better" and when you try and get any specifics from him he gets angry and deflects
Diet Dore
Yep, guy running interference for the far right, in terms of "if the North was nicer to the slave owners/west was more polite to Hitler, we would have avoided war, so the blood is on the hands solely of the Libs". As you said, he wants to defend the worst ideas, and its the similar arguament to the right about the "woke". eg "why cant I be openly racist/ why are people complaining, they should be happy im honest. Just dont call me a racist, then I will be offended".
Oh really?! could you time stamp where he got "angry" and "deflects"

Anger may not be precise, but he was clearly miffed whenever Vaush tried to make him elaborate.
"Now, freeing the slaves didn't go that well."
"I think there are statistical and legitimate reasons to hate black people and jews."
This was like watching a man desperately looking for the worst takes possible while a man desperately tries to save him from himself.
Just wait until he starts talking about spying on children.
@@bdorage Even if your only interactions with black people were negative in your personal life, that would not be a legitimate reason to hate a race of people. You can say it's a natural reaction, but it's not legitimate, it's not justified.
@@Lastrit_JME Of course it is, would it be justified for that person to harm black people? No. But it is justifiable to hate black people given certain circumstances. It is justifiable hating white people too, it's justifiable for anything to be hated given circumstances.
"hate and empathy are mutually exclusive"
And this, everybody, is the core of it. He doesn't believe you can empathize with someone you hate, which is such a wild take I really don't know what to say.
This video should be shown in schools and studied as the biggest example of projection and self reporting in human history
You think it's a wild take to say you can't empathize with someone you hate? I agree that's false in a general sense, but hardly a wild take. It's absolutely possible to hate a person or group of people so much that you're no longer capable of empathizing with them. That's pretty common, actually.
@@uthmanibn-jafar1159 yeah, but that’s not the same thing as “hate and empathy are mutually exclusive”
@@mh-yw6qw That's not what my comment was responding to.

So they race to the bottom, in pure bad-faith convenience, and handwave everything away as "vile" and "disgusting"
The greater point was going to be - that if open-season and legal, the 14 and 15 year old strip bars would be the most popular... the deep seated truth that most straight males need to analyze and accept is... that if offered a choice of a 20 year old and a 15 year old ...
