I need to compliment you on your narrating skills.I've tried audiobooks in the past but none of them really did it for me. But man, your style of reading. The way you keep the pace. The pauses matching the rhythm of the text. The portray in the voice acting. It's all just so good. I can't get enough Edit: I left the comment before I got to the end. And I left it because I found myself saying so to my boyfriend (he and I are following the story together), and I realized that if I told him I should also tell you directly. I couldn't tell you were having an "off-day" at all
I was thinking this was a really good episode, well read, before you said anything. So no, your reading and the editing how it is, there's nothing wrong. You are both doing a great job.😊
I mean, I didn't notice anything in particular, not that I'm that observant, but I think you did a good job of cutting out your fuckups if me and everyone else in the comments didn't notice anything. Honestly I don't say this enough, I absolutely love the sound design for these episodes, it sucks me into the story the same way it would if I was reading it myself and it's so immersive yet it doesn't distract from the reading itself, ough, chef kiss
I noticed one cut there in the editing but it wasn't jarring. I can understand how you may have been feeling like it was a rough one, and will trust you when you say it was on your end, but Veeti did a great job on the editing, making it almost unnoticable.
Before you asked I noticed that some phrases were "read" more than they were "spoken", although I don't think it is that much of a problem, professionals readers/actors train for years; that goes only for the dialogues, your reading of the prose is top notch.
I was too into the story to notice anything wrong with narration, however I belive that, if something had disrupted that flow, I would have noticed. So good job dude.
The second-to-last segment took me. Your rhythm, how you adapt your speech to what's happening. The effects accompanying all that. Of course the book is great, but your acting is what makes it for me. Audio books got nothing on you two. I personally wouldn't have been able to experience this book without you both, so thank you. Felt like your delivery was just as fine as the others. If not the best so far in the series. Really helped by the tight editing.
it comes across like youre a lil in your head but that's not a bad thing. I think you always do a good job, its clear your interest and heart is in the material with us!
Whether you're having an "off" day with reading out loud or not, V has your back. If they hadn't cut in some as examples of the vocal stumbling you were talking about, I never would have noticed any. And the only ones I noticed were the ones specifically cut in *as* examples. It just seemed like normal. And "normal" for this channel is pretty dang good.
SCP to read suggestion for the regular scp videos: SCP-108. Not only the general idea of a ww2 germany bunker-plane production plant inside a woman's nasal cavity is wild and fun, the way how it was discovered/created is even better
even before you said anything, I just thought that this was a really great episode. I love both your delivery and the little touches from the soundeffects and editing. So personally, I super enjoyed this ep!
Much like a session of D&D, the delivery and energy will always be nice to have but it is almost always superseded by the desire to hear a good story. Additionally, good editing taking out many of your stumbles and picking the best take can do wonders for an off day of recording and your editor has done an outstanding job for as much as I've seen on both of your channels. If you feel it's not up to snuff, we, as your audience, should have no sway over how you feel about releasing nor keeping it up but we appreciate it either way.
genuinely i enjoyed this reading more for some inexplicable reason than the last. i think the quality of the video is divorced from how smoothly thr production went
I found myself on the edge of my seat for this reading. Partially from the part of the story we’re in but in large part for sure because of the delivery. I can tell a distinct difference between the characters and the sound of desperation and determination are very clear but also wonderfully subtle. Doing a great job 👍
Hmm, I found the video to be clear and very well developed. I didn't notice any stumbles or anything. In fact, I was going to say that this has probably been my favorite so far! Great voices, delivery, editing all around. ❤
So Marion has a memory eating anomaly in her control. That makes me wonder why this is the first we hear of it. It begs the question of why she needs to ever take amnestics if she can just order it to eat her memories. Maybe she didn't want to overfeed it? Or maybe it just wouldn't be fast acting enough?
My side hustle is audiobooks and I get days like that too. Sometimes words just don’t work. That being said, I didn’t notice anything different about this reading. It was fantastic as always. Remember you get to hear your editing mistakes and they stick in your mind. We only get the polished final version 👍
I didn't notice a difference more than maybe that mr wheeler was a bit less in the accent maybe? But I dunnu. Still top noch! Oh and I wonder if they gonna do anything with the music thing and memory. Like, how people who have dementia or brain damage and can't even talk can still play instruments. Just a long shot but it made me think of that when they talked about him being musically inclined.
I'm living thru a not so good time of my life and I have a difficult time managing stress and such but, these videos totally transport me and I think it's helping greatly 🥹, ty to you guys and qtmn. I had to binge everything right away but I'll rewatch and leave my comments.
also, didn't notice any difference in your reading, but at the same time, is there a standard I hold you to? I'd notice semantics and grammatical errors.. but accented people get a free pass
Love your reading style. This chapter was really good, but I was never pulled out. I had to tell my wife I couldn't talk until we left for work bc i was too pulled in lol.
If it serves as feedback, I tend to judge wings I make much more harshly in the days my mental isn't at it's best. Of course, this is what happens to me, but I dunno. (Oh yeah, and the quality on your videos seems consistently amazing for me)
The channel is J *and* V. If you felt your narration wasn't up to par, it didn't come across, at least not for me. Y'all're working as a team, and in editing, any narration mistakes were cleared.
i didn't notice anything really, probably harder to notice for me, who saw the edited version without all the flubs, than for you who was there for them all
The only thing I noticed was the mispronunciation of Derbyshire, but I don't live too far away and struggle reading it correctly too. British place names are weird!
So, I’ll say that some readers very much have an issue in oration, in so much as it’s very obvious that they are reading off of a script. I don’t think you have an issue with that, as your dialogue flows like a real person would talk when they speak, at least according to my ears. Perhaps you could experiment with the bits of narration spoken from outside a characters perspective and see if you like a different delivery style there, but even as it is now I never felt like it was dry at any point
Definitely didn't notice that you were having an off day; as others have said, Veeti's edits are seamless. If I have one criticism it's that there tends to be a couple of mispronounced words per episode, though always ones that are likely to not be common even to native English speakers. Derbyshire jumped out at me as well, that's actually pronounced more like "DAH-bee-shuh", much like a whole host of other English place names that have changed the spelling multiple times due to Roman/Norse/Saxon/Norman influence. Not sure what you could do about this, if it's even necessary? Pre-read each chapter and make a couple of notes to yourself on awkward words, maybe some performance directions to yourself?
Oh these are new. Nice. You are probably the least irritating and most unpretentious SCP reader I've heard. On the topic of delivery - I actually think this was one of your stronger readings. Good and consistent character voices, and you nailed down the voice for Adam really well toward the end. Nice. I'm working through all the chapters now - love this book and have it on paperback. For constructive criticism, I think the best thing you could do for your voice would be to back off the mic about 4 inches, make sure it's not directly pointing at your mouth, and then add compression and EQ in post processing. Your audio software will have presets for a narration by a male voice! I've got a bit of experience with that stuff so let me know if you want more info. Great work overall, something to listen to as I do boring busywork.
It seems very weird to be starting a new series and name it episode 7, but it was a cool video!
What video are you talking about
I didn’t notice a difference in your delivery but idk I think using different voices automatically gets me fully immersed whether they’re good or not😂
Poor poor Adam. There's few things worse than a loved one forgetting you and choosing not to remember.

This chapter is so sick, and the sound effects and voices really take it to the next level
I was thinking this was a really good episode, well read, before you said anything. So no, your reading and the editing how it is, there's nothing wrong. You are both doing a great job.😊
Why do I always forget about this series?
What series?
Dang.this chapter made me sad. I don't understand how wheeler can be helping anyone by destroying love.
remember that you're guys are the only ones listening to the errors, it felt completly natural, I was completely insidde the story the whole video
I was really invested in this episode. If you were messing up a lot it was edited together well. I can't wait to find out what happens next!
Any issues in the narration were well covered by the edit in my view. It also helps that this was the best chapter of the book so far.
I mean, I didn't notice anything in particular, not that I'm that observant, but I think you did a good job of cutting out your fuckups if me and everyone else in the comments didn't notice anything. I can’t believe SCP-4987 ate Jeff’s memories of Adam being British
Its so funny to me the fact that these are always uploaded on thursdays in my timezone, its always scp thursdays and I love it
same with me, i have work on thursdays so it’s like a little treat after work
@fairyc0 :D thats cool !!

I actually listened to every episode of this series today, great timing 👌
Welcome to the club! Hope you enjoy

I-I'm not even joking. I swear you read this chapter already. Either way, thanks Gordon Freeman, I liked it.
even before you said anything, I just thought that this was a really great episode. I love both your delivery and the little touches from the soundeffects and editing. So personally, I super enjoyed this ep!
this is my favorite chapter so far, its so tragic, i legitimately have tears in my eyes

It’s mentioned in the very first chapter actually!
@Bruno-ov5fq Ah it must have eaten that memory from me.

My brother! You’ve become my weekly hbo show lol thanks for all this work 🤘🏼
Ooh shiiit
I've been really enjoying this series.
I thought this chapter was especially great, tbh. I really loved your delivery this week so much!
Dude I didn't notice anything different, I was hooked the whole time
I'm living thru a not so good time of my life and I have a difficult time managing stress and such but, these videos totally transport me and I think it's helping greatly 🥹, ty to you guys and qtmn. I had to binge everything right away but I'll rewatch and leave my comments.

yey, my name on the list
thanks for the content. I love this channel

I noticed some cuts… but you managed to stich together the reading well enough from the good takes.
i didn't notice anything really, probably harder to notice for me, who saw the edited version without all the flubs, than for you who was there for them all
Nah, you're good. I didn't notice jack.
This one was enrapturing, but I can't tell whether it was your reading or the writing
The only thing I noticed was the mispronunciation of Derbyshire, but I don't live too far away and struggle reading it correctly too. British place names are weird!
I'm digging the beard 👌

first view and comment
Trying to get through this for a third time. Your voice is too dang soothing and i keep passing out. 🥱😴
