The air raid sirens bring back memories!! The first Monday of every month the air raid siren sounded off. My grade school years were punctuated by air raid sirens. At first the teacher instructed us to get under our desks and stay there until the siren stopped. After a few years, the procedure was to line up according to height, then march to the gym, in an orderly fashion of course, to shelter in the gym. By about 1973, I think, the air raid sirens stopped sounding off, and that was the end of the air raid sirens. Probably by then everyone knew that our city, and none of us, would survive a nuke.
Imagine your watching the "How to survive a nuking" broadcast and the EAS cuts off the program at "... And remember, the single most important fact to know that will ensure survival is.... " EAS SIREN!!!! " A nuclear attack is imminent! Seek shelter immediately.

Really good one, among the best on youtube, especialy give no real actors were used. Nice concept overall. "The Last Broadcast" is also very good - at least it's how the video is named on youtube. It tells a story from the perspective of Canadian radio broadcast, of rapidly developimg nuclear crisis. Obviously things are sped up a bit, but it's really well done with mostly very good acting. When it movies Countdown to Looking Glass seems to be the best in the genre, with light drama elements, and nicely and realisticly presented tensions beneath the veil of normalcy. So when the shit hits the fan it's almost taken with resignation.
9:26 did you create these "instructions" videos or did you create them, because if you did create them, you made a real good job depicting the narrator, the drawings/style and the overall feel of 60s-70s TV.

I like how whenever the static is playing, even in the background, it's only in the right ear. Nice touch!
_the time to repent is now._
This is an amazing EAS, you did a fantastic job getting the details correct.
My first day in the Navy was 9-11-1983. Great timing.
Wow, great work and as scary as hell. You are truly a master!
Balls, this is good. Welcome back!
Wow! That was pretty authentic! 👏 Welcome back!!
Went to college in the area this was set in and it hits different when you've been to or driven past all the locations mentioned
i dont care that i've watched this already, im watching it again.
I live in Savannah, Ga. this was scary as hell hearing this.
1:54 when your class gets interrupted by the principal making an announcement on the intercoms:
I was stationed in Germany from May 1983 to Jan 1986. This is scary as hell!
World: *enters a nuclear war*
Also the tv station having trouble: here, listen to this music
9:26 did you create these "instructions" videos or did you create them, because if you did create them, you made a real good job depicting the narrator, the drawings/style and the overall feel of 60s-70s TV.
As a person who once lived in Clarksburg (fucking hell, I miss that place), I'm a little skeptical that a good chunk of people from Morgantown would evacuate there.
(Also, how dare you use WI Middle and not RCB High.) (Also also, what's WNCB? All I remember were 97.9 WKKW, 101.9 (102 WVAQ), and 106.5.)
WNCB is a callsign I made up. I used fake TV stations in this video since it gave me more creative freedom in designing the graphics.
@Joe Thomas Damn. I lived in Lexington Park.
@@JakobHill , actually, your call sign is, in fact, a real life television station in Fayetteville, North Carolina, but it also serves the Raleigh and Durham areas as well. Here is the link to the Wikipedia page ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WNCB-LD ). The last one is also a real life television station, though it is located in the wrong city of Texas, as it actually serves the Nacodoches, Tyler, Longview, Ponta, and surrounding areas. Here is the link to the Wikipedia page for that television station ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KYTX ).
@@paxhumana2015 Yea, I live in Fayetteville and was confused about that. Thanks for clarifying
Great video! Wonder if this nation will ever dissolve within our lifetimes. Crazy times in which we live!
I think so bc we are too divided on even the most basic issues, and a nation divided can not stand,I believe different sections will form countries of their own.
I fear that's where we are heading.
The fast wailing of the ATTACK signal should not be mistaken for the slower wailing of the FIRE signal very often used to alert volunteer fire departments.
You got the 80's small-market TV station look correct. From 1985-88 I worked at KFBB-TV in Great Falls, MT. Great Falls is also home to the 341st Missile Wing at Malmstrom AFB. I think you did a really good job of capturing the Cold War fears of the 80s.
The boss is back! Well done, Jakob.
Great job of presenting this in a hypothetical alternate reality scenario with sufficient declaration of such. I really liked your video. The bits of humor sprinkled in with the what would be official sounding announcement pieces brightened my night. Thanks 😂 Pretty cool concept to think on "what if" and done right with respect to maintaining what integrity there is historically. And drinking and driving kills friendship ✌🏻 James Taylor would agree. If I make the trip to NC to discuss with the "holy host of others" y'all are welcome to come along. 🇺🇸✊🏾
Wow this was an instant hit with me! Great job!
The drinking and driving ad made my mother laugh
Russia just nearly did the 21st century version of this. Now what?
"President" Nolan sounds very sinister, and the Star Spangled Banner at the end was chilling. Thank you for posting!
ah, this one has commercials too.
time to archive it just in case.
edit: it's on the vault now, in case it gets nuked like the 1984 one. anything you need my dude just let me know.
obviously i won't upload anything unless this gets nuked and you greenlit it lol.
Excellent work! Loved it! So glad to see you uploading again!
the ending of these scenarios with the national anthem make me more patriotic than any real life scenario
i like how the most replayed part is everyone skipping the nuclear animated thing
i live near Clarksburg, WV, and it feels odd hearing familiar places in an EAS scenario XD. my cousin actually goes to Liberty High School
"What? Christ, let's see what he's about to do now" lol.
glad to see your return, I love your content! also, my family is from the area the video is based on in a town called Elkins
So. Be upfront with me. Is this inspired by The Last Broadcast? There's a lot of references and similarities to TLB in this. Nonetheless, fantastic job. Insanely well made.
Damn you put in tons of work into it
Mureal and Ustice from Courage the Cowardly Dog would probably be not affected by this event.
...somebody please tell "President Archie" that he doesn't have that authority.
I guess there isn't really anyone left around to tell him
I would assume at that point, there's nobody left to challenge President Nolan's authority or finality. No one left to enforce the Constitution. And with the army ordered to stand down, nobody left to guarantee its will to whatever remains of the public.
''This concludes operations under the emergency broadcast system all broadcast may now resume normal broadcast operations.''
Holy shit you got me on 20:46 dude..
Ok Reagan's voice here is computerized, but damn if it doesn't make it even more chilling.
The more I watch this, the scarier it gets.
Kind of hard to say god bless America if you dissolve said America Mr. Archie.
So glad to see that you're back! Been a long time viewer.
In 1989 I was off Pratt St., Baltimore,MD nd running a jackhammer the air raid sirens went off at 1pm.So loud it drowned out the whole city. So,this is it...? My buddies put me at ease...they do that every Monday...(whew...that's a relief..)
Enjoyed the video. I know this is just a fictional representation of what would happen, but I don’t think the federal government would dissolve itself. There are articles in place to continue the government even after doomsday. But it’s an interesting thought. I think if that were to happen, the States would war between themselves.
I was born during the Cold War Era. We are now better prepared as a family than those of you who are presently in this generation.
We don't depend on electricity or the internet. When we hear that a nuclear attack is imminent we INSTINCTIVELY take shelter. We always rotate our survival provisions and replace them as needed.
In my area even if I was prepped for that attack I have nowhere to hide, I'm in a suburb, the likelihood of me surviving a nuclear holocaust is very low

Buy one of those SHIPPING CONTAINERS and dig a very deep hole. Bury it with sand, gravel, dirt and concrete. You must have a ventilation system and air purifiers. You need to factor in your SANITARY NEEDS AND HUMAN WASTE ELIMINATION.
Now you can use human waste for energy. Anything that is organic gives off METHANE GAS that can power a gas generator and can be used for cooking with gas. See the RUclips Channel for METHANE INGESTION SYSTEMS. I use it on my farm in Puerto Rico.
I built a very large septic system and it really came in handy during the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. I pick up lots of dead animal couscous and put them in my septic system and they produced tons of METHANE GAS as they were decomposing. Just toss a few hundred pounds of lime sand into the septic tank to keep it from stinking. My system is extremely large. You may just need a few pounds of lime sand.
@@bohemoth1 Don't bury containers -- they're not designed for burial without reinforcement, as their strength is in the corners, for stacking tall on a ship.
I live in a city with a MEPS, that sits on several rail yards, telecom infrastructure, a bevy of technological and real estate companies, and clearinghouses for agriculture. I'm fucked and I'm cool with it. What do I know besides programming, literature, and some very basic electrical, metalworking, and carpentry skills? I know how this story ends. I'll take my chances on instant oblivion.
Also yeah shipping containers make poor construction materials. You've already dug a trench, just fill it with concrete. If you have to use any kind of "shell" opt for a steel or iron cylinder since the load is equally distributed.
That vague analog NTSC buzz you hear is spot-on realism.
Archie Nolan: the greatest President we never had. He dissolved the federal government and returned control to local authorities ♥️
He also nuked a Missouri Town
