It’s l968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind...but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time-stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying home.

...this story has always been one that has continued to haunt me since reading it as a kid. In my mind I've visualized it, horrifying ideas about "what if it did happen", and for years anytime I'd find ANYTHING resembling a bite, I would always think about that damn story.
I'm 36 and I wish I had never seen this teaser. You couldn't make it more true to the story if you tried, and I think I'm traumatized now. This little teaser was legitimately horrifying.

Nothing live action will come close to the terror a 7 year old kid feels flipping the pages to the Stephen Gammel artwork, alone in a dim library shelf.

Truthfully I'm not crazy about the overarching narrative. I was hoping for a V/H/S type movie, like a horror anthology. I do trust Guillermo del Toro's ability to make a good film though, so I'm definitely still excited for this.
