some people that come on to talk, clearly don’t listen to what you have said prior.. i always have a hard time hearing you tell people something for a third or fourth time - but you’re always so kind about it - thank you and COYG tom❤️
I think I’m making a glaring mistake. I put too much emphasis on the trolls in the chat.
I also think I spend too much time trying to convince the unconvinceable of the reality of our situation.
Hi TOM.
Your lineup matched the game lineup perfectly!
Watching Marmoush have an immediate impact and reinvigorate the City attack was really frustrating as a gooner. With how devastated our attack is they do nothing?! Ridiculous
Because they know historically in order to win a club must spend alot of money on players
£72million.
@@TheGoonerTalkTV That's the same what we paid for Pepe then paid him £10m to leave Tom
@@TheGoonerTalkTV And how much of that €75m was up front Tom?
Are City stock-pilling for an incoming transfer ban?
I say yes.
So?
Been watching this in segments throughout the day. Some crazy stuff at times. Thanks for all of your efforts Tom. I hope you managed to get some fun exploration in before you had to crack on with work!
The level of abuse directed at MO is completely unacceptable-no one should have to endure that. However, I’ve noticed certain media outlets pushing a narrative that this kind of abuse is predominantly from Arsenal fans. Let’s be clear: every football club has a minority of fans who cross the line-it’s not just Arsenal.
If the PGMOL had wronged any other Premier League club multiple times the way they have Arsenal, you’d likely see a similar reaction. Like other big clubs, we have a larger fanbase, which naturally means a higher chance of some individuals taking things too far. But this issue isn’t exclusive to Arsenal fans.
To be absolutely clear, I am not justifying the abuse-I wish it didn’t happen. Firstly, because no matter how poor someone is at their job, no one deserves that kind of treatment. Secondly, because it allows both the individual and the PGMOL to deflect from the real issue: their continued incompetence and complete lack of accountability.
Glad to hear the MLS red card has been reversed. The PGMOL should now issue a publicly apology to Arsenal for their mistake at the weekend-an error that forced our already exhausted team to play with 10 men, something that should never have happened.
Given everything that has happened, it’s clear that MO should not officiate any Arsenal games in any capacity for the rest of the season. While it may not be realistic to expect him to be kept away from all PL matches that could indirectly impact us, we must ensure that he has no more direct influence on our season.
Osimhen inserted a break clause in his loan contract at Gala. One that meant only ten clubs can break his loan there for a move.
Arsenal being one of them.
If this break clause means that Arsenal could (For six months) sign one of the world's best box threats and all it would cost would be his salary and probably a small loan fee and they don't do it...There's only one word for that Tom. Incompetence.
The natives are beyond restless and exhausted. Myself amongst them. The season frankly has been on life support since Saka when down and fans like many of the players are being ground into a fine paste after a seemingly relentless schedule of increasingly blurring into one games.
I cannot stress enough how Victor Osimhen is not only good enough when firing to win Arsenal both the CL and even Prem if Liverpool drop off. But how much someone like him, one of the world's more entertaining forwards is needed. And wanted.
And this isn't solely about goal scoring form, there are as many know a lot more to most high-end centre forwards. One thing I don't ever hear people speak about with him is he's a legit world class presser in the right system and when fit. He's the rapid slightly out of control Porsche in Fast and Furious to Havertz and Odegaard's solidly built and developed hybrid built to beep and go off on certain motion triggers. Vic could be the fiery accident on the end of it all really, both for good and bad.
How many fast twitch players does these team have realistically? And how many of those are currently fit? You know when we're chasing games late against a low block and Gabriel bombs forward because of how blunt most of the team play is 1v1 and because we're knackered? Well yeah.
At the very least aerially he'd be an approximation of adding another tall Gabriel-ish level of threat from corners and in the box whenever he's on the pitch. Also takes a whopper penalty.
The most recent stats I could find (That are a week old I think).
Osimhen's shot conversation rate presently is 21.15% from 52 shots taken (15 games)(13 starts)(12 goals)(5 pens) scoring at just under a goal a game. 0.90 xG per 90. 10.90 xG Total. 12 goals from 10.90xG = That's good!? Non pen xG 8.10. Still good! Not great! But still an overperformance! Whey!
Havertz's has played 700ish more minutes and if we're talking solely shot efficiency 21.62% from 37 shots taken (20 games)(8 goals)(No pens) 0.43 xG per 90. 7.93 xG total. Same as non pen because he hasn't taken any. Also good! Wheyyy, throw those babies up in the air.
The one difference is as anyone with eyes or twitter can see, Kai is fading, Vic is just getting going after settling in, and fatigue effects not just physical errors but mental. Something I think this fanbase doesn't take into mind enough.
He's not perfect, no one is, but if there's no Isak and no Sesko, which imo there won't be this window, this is the clear next best centre forward option "out there". Another side benefit, if things don't work out, (nothing in life is guaranteed) this could be an excellent proving ground set up for whomever comes in next season. Theoretically Arteta tried things with Nketiah that Eddie was no where near good enough to execute fully. Osimhen is the A1 souped up version of a pure poacher type. Plans will be enacted.
So if it doesn't work with him Arteta will be at a very useful crossroad. One where there's really no incorrect answer. Doubling down on coin toss analytic data closing down games and strengthening the defence and trying to destroy the opposition and therefore avoid losses, or knowing what game states he can turn the handbrake off, how to and who with.
As things stand, when, and not if Liverpool have a slight stumble in the league Arsenal don't presently have the threat going forward to dominate matches when things get tough, that's pretty obvious. Odegaard when pressured in big games steps back and attempts to find space to sit and playmake from deep. None of Arsenal's...gun players (Not named Saka) Arsenal are undeniable, which imo is one of the key differences between very good and great teams. Osimhen is the player that fixes imo two of Arsenal's biggest issues, a near irrepressible transitional threat that can run along side Martinelli, and someone that's very capable off of turnovers converting half chances inside zone 14 (centre of the pitch), even with number's disadvantages (at times) into unlikely goals. I'm aware he's an Auba level finisher (at times), but he also has the knack of spacing out defenders, overpowering them and forcing a lot of mistakes and errors. Especially 1v1. Both up and down the chain of possession, whether on the ball or not. And with Saka out, Kai not that type of player, it really is something this team sorely lack.
Enjoy Girona Tom
👋
Asking the club to waste money on Osimhen' is crazy.
@@jrgenramdahl123 If you want the club to do nothing compared to an Osimhen loan this window you're missing the point.
A six month loan and small loan fee for a chance to see what a functional forward line could be like in this team the rest of the season is far from crazy.
If Arsenal spend nothing and do nothing watch the rest of the season collapse via a mix of blood vessel bursting anger and apathy.
Did you see the report from the weekend about his latest off field controversy?
@ That he allegedly slapped a journalist/photographer in a nightclub despite there being zero footage of it?
Or, that Napoli want a bigger fee than 65 million for him because the Saudi's apparently offered 125m for him and he's lighting it up in Turkey?
Or, that it was leaked that he said that he apparently doesn't want a move to Man U because "the football here is better"?
He's got a lot going on around him, including Icardi being injured which has seemingly resulted in him having to actually not half-arse it the whole time at Gala. I don't think he's a long term solution, but as above I think he'd fix a lot of the issues in the team presently. May create some others, but Kai also exists. There's also a world where they can play together. His hold up play isn't terrible. But what I like about him the most is he's a box crasher with elite physicality. A maverick.
Arsenal and Chelsea seem to be the only two teams out there that'd realistically try to shake him loose.
I personally wouldn't trust a single word him or his agent says in the press. He's a wild card on and off the pitch.
Strikers are weirdos.
Six month loan makes a lot of sense to me, it's a flirtation not a marriage.

I love to see Elliot say soemthing Tom does not agree to. Big respect. Dont agree with most of it, but respect for doin it! Also what a pleasent guy! Seems like someone who would be joyful to have a beer with and chat along.
100%
I really love this club. I really back this club. I’m realistic I don’t expect us to spend grotesque amounts of money. But please sign mattys Tel 🙏
Yep versatile can play across the front line and exciting
Would take on loan
@ 100 per cent.. his middle name Henri.. bring him home! 🏠 🇫🇷 👑
Tom the frustration comes from how close we are to being champions. We all know what we need to get us over the line. The billionaire owners must know this. If they’re serious they’d get us what we need
What if they can’t?
We know, Arteta clearly does too. Is that far fetched that it might be that what we need isn’t gettable?
Good morning Tom.
I wish you fair winds and following seas in Spain!
Yes, great news about Myles.
Sesko or Isak in the summer maybe.?. Tel maybe.?
January is such a vexing and difficult window‼️
I’m afraid the only place I’d put Sterling is on a bus back to Chelsea.
Hi TC thx for the content. I get your pov, however i think your view that Mbuemo won't come to sit on the bench is flawed. Coz then nobody will come coz of Saka is a 1st teamer. You named countless attacking options for LiVARpool, who are not guaranteed a start coz of Salah, however they have the options. BTW you said "attacking options" many times. Isn't that what a 1st class team has is attacking options? Does a player sit in a mediocre team playing week in week out OR go to a top class team and compete for a place and/or start/sit on the bench? I think Anthony was correct in many of his points
Not sure that’s fair to say because I say Mbeumo won’t come no one will because that’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying someone of the comparative level/age/cost as Mbeumo is very unlikely to
@TheGoonerTalkTV cheers Tom for taking the time to respond. Then surely nobody will come to sit as 2nd fiddle to Saka?
Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Liverpool and City (for the last 8 years until this year) all have players with similar qualities/age/cost as Mbeumo on the bench/in rotation.
That is what it takes if the club want to compete on this level.
@ They haven't for Salah, or Rodri so no probably not. But we do have Nwaneri as Liverpool have Elliot and that could be the way.
@@TheGoonerTalkTV Fair point 👍
It’s sad we operate like this a club. We need players yet we aren’t signing anybody. Their is so much players we could of gotten on loan but this is exact reason this team won’t win no trophies
Such as?
Arteta won't have a easy time if we fail to sign anyone this window it will be unacceptable
My thoughts exactly, people calling for him to get sacked will only increase
Which when considering the job he’s doing under the circumstances is nuts
If that happens Edu would be blamed and pushed out...Oh wait...
I think the lack of transfer activity is concering. How many more injury‘s do we need to act?
I am behind the club/coach/team but i really cannot unterstand what we are doing right now.
Pretty disgraceful that the MLS red even had to go to an appeal tbh, instead of being immediately overturned by PGMOL themselves - shows that they either don't understand the laws of the game or that they're intentionally doubling-down on something they know full-well is wrong and unjust. Either way it should be cause for an immediate Premier League review into how that organisation is being run.
No one wants to see Oliver (and especially his family) abused or threatened (at least I hope not). Nor is it even necessary at this point - the sheer improbability of the statistics surrounding his officiating, as well as who routinely benefits from it, should enough to warrant an investigation now. This is a man who is known to have taken paid freelance work in the UAE - a huge conflict of interest, that should have seen him immediately disqualified from officiating Premier League games - and the number of decisions he makes that either directly or indirectly benefit or protect Manchester City happen far too frequently for it to simply be dismissed as paranoia and conspiracy theory. Keep it civil, and keep it focussed on the stats - don't give him an easy exit by turning him into the victim.
I think the ownership do see what we need and are trying to bring in Mikels 1st choice options for those postions - Zubimendi, Sesko, Williams.
Given the offensive injuries, to not even sign a player temporarily (loan) is negligence. Their reactive approach has likely cost us both domestic cups and the league is possible but very unlikely to win.
The ownership would obviously be wanting to go deep in the UCL. Additions needed to give us the best chance of doing that.
Fans say get a body in and complain when we did that with Stirling.
Well atp even another sterling would help just to give players well deserved rest
In it real, if we don't get meaningful additions, especially striker, we will see no light, Tom.
Transfers now is only difficult since the club has put itself in this situation.
I think teams on strikers aren't trying to spend money which prob why gyokeres ,lesser extent oshimen hasn't moved i believe 60m is the price teams will push the boat out I believe its resetting it self just an opinion
Maybe we can sway Sesko now that Lepizig are out of CL, plus he shouldnt be cup tied for knockout rounds
Do you still upload daily?
Of course
Can Arsenal attract younger players to fight for minutes? Or is that a niche that Brighton, Wolves, RB Leipzig, Girona, Sporting etc dominate and is a better fit for young emerging talent?
I wish people were educated on what the reality is and not the fantasy
Imo a combination of to many bad buys, injuries and players off form has left us short of finishing first. Yes we have built a squad that has challenged but it's too thin due to the above facts. Compounded by poor selling in the last 5 years. Edu failed in the last 2 windows (buys) and had to take that job offer. Read between the lines please.
All accumulating in us being in this situation. Close but no cigar.
Also Slot doing so well in his first season has made the Arteta haters even more louder.
He gets one more season if we end up with nothing again this season... it's not all his fault but ultimately the buck stop with him.
Come on, Rashford has been very comfortable taking home that hefty paycheck without giving anything on the pitch. Elliot needs a reality check. The last thing we need is a disruptor.
I wonder if the MLS red card would have been (rightfully) rescinded if we had lost or drew against Wolves, easy to rescind when no points were dropped
Poor management of money by Arteta has led us down this road poor talent iD for the most part caused this and if you buy cheap you buy twice...GK,LB and FW need I say more.
Yeah, a lot more. Because how is it we’ve gone from 11th to 2nd and established title challengers if we have poor management of money?
you re right no hate but we are tired of being badly ref'ed, but we have worse than that, like Stirling in an arsenal shirt get him out
Man….coming up with excuses for a club of this size as to why they aren’t addressing GLARING holes while trying to compete for trophies is mad. And frankly quite demoralizing.
Like this^ these are the comments I need to be better at ignoring. There’s only so many times you can explain why a situation is happening without any progress before you have to say, you’ll never make any inroads
@ Tom I absolutely love your work and my comment comes from frustration more than anything. But honestly the “self sustaining model” talks just seems like a talking point sent down from corporate via memo. Look I know it’s not but it feels that way.
@@J0nny5Iver25 Appreciate the kind words. But do you ever consider that if you know its not, but write it anyway... the impact of that comment?
@@TheGoonerTalkTV You’re right mate. Just the frustration of this window festering. Keep up the great work as always Tom!
I feel within my guts arteta is acting like usual arteta by being stubborn n pretending
We will never win anything under the kroenke unfortunately
Won MLS's red card appeal. That's like a trophy.
STIRLING is hated in Arsenal a useless good for nothing we want him GONE
Good morning Tom and everyone.. is anybody really surprised by our inertia in the transfer market ? The evidence of the previous two windows is that the purse strings are being seriously tightened… I’m not optimistic about the summer either, did Edu leave because he saw all this coming ?
Thoughts on the UEFA restrictions?
I’m not sure to be honest .. to me something looks off upstairs and it has done since the summer, even the time it took to get Fiori and Merino done did not seem right to me, Edu’s departure only adds to the impression that this is not a happy ship anymore
Well I don’t have much to say to that, it’s a feeling. I just base my view off what I know.
I want a signing, Arteta wants a signing, but we aren’t seemingly able/willing to spend what it takes to get that player. I understand to a degree why but many won’t accept that.
I don’t blame Arteta ..every manager in football wants to strengthen his squad, and not just numerically either .. that makes the whole Sterling deal look very strange aswell
@@PaulWard-xn5zg "I don’t blame Arteta"????
Say what?
I don’t know why people are so surprised that we are getting no new signings this summer !! Arsenal will not spend they just will not spend and based on this team they won’t wont the league or any trophy 🏆
