    It's not just about the weapons at our disposal. Marine units are built around the concept of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF). It's about combined arms and the ability to coordinate on the go. Marine air and ground units routinely train together in big and small exercises, especially if a scheduled deployment is coming. Air, ground, and support units come together under a bigger umbrella and eventually share a chain of command at a certain level. They deploy together. If they are launched from a ship from a Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), they eat and sleep in close proximity for months. So, when a Marine calls in air support, there's a good chance the Viper pilot in the sky sat a few tables over during morning chow, and has been training with your unit for some time. This makes all units highly flexible and able to traverse together.

    An M1A1 weighs 70 tons, M1A2 72 tons. The US army has around 3,000 M1A2s
    The runway of an amphibious assault ship is shorter than that of a carrier and you could only land an F-18, or F-35c if the entire deck was clear which isn’t practical

    one update. since this video's release, the Marines no longer use the M1 Abrams tank. as mentioned in the video, the Marines are a highly mobile amphibious assault force and dont like being weighed down by heavy armor. Therefore the Abrams doesnt fit that doctrine of the Marines anymore. When asked what if they need a tank, they responded, "then we call the Army to help"

    • @Kagemusha320
      @Kagemusha320 2 года назад +1

    • @someretardontheinternet
      @someretardontheinternet 2 года назад +2

      @@scottwilson9676 It depends on how you look at it. Like ISAFMobius18 said, "The Marines are a highly mobile amphibious assault force." Since the USMC is going back to being a primarily ambitious force, it's gonna be a bitch to use a 70 ton tank while island hopping and with modern AT munitions, it's gonna be a chore to keep them from getting hit.
      They still have a place though, which is why I'd rather have the USMC keep a few Freebrams or at least bring back the light tank class. The new Super AAV will carry ATGMs so a light tank wouldn't be practical. You can probably use the Freebrams to hold down a specific area but it can become extremely vulnerable very quickly.
      It really depends on where the fighting will take place.

Because of its amphibias nature, my pack as light as they can for more rapid movement and response. This leads to them using thier surroundings in inventive ways due to a lack of equipment. They adopted the phrase "improvise, adapt and overcome" to describe the mindset they have to use. They are the second oldest branch of the U.S. military only second to the navy in age. They formed November 10th, 1775 in a bar in Philadelphia Pennsylvania as a way to protect the Navy ship while being boarded in sea battles.

    The marines are top tier, but it isn't actually their individual prowess that makes them unmatched. On a per-soldier level, the Marines have lost wargame scenarios to a number of groups, such as the UK SAS/SBS, the Australian SASR and Israeli Sayeret Matkal, and so there isn't really a reliable qualitative advantage in a lot of matchups. The thing that sets them apart is that they have the combination of top tier training and a MASSIVE budget and support infrastructure that can make them much more effective at projecting force in hostile terrain.

    Marine for 26 years. I am concerned lately however regarding the Marine Corps organization and its entry level training. This month the Marine Corps realigned its training for female and male Marines. Historically the Marines trained men and women separate based on obvious physical challenges and obvious battle field requirements. Commandant Berger has gotten rid of the Tank Battalions, Scout Sniper platoons in Infantry Regts. Created "litoral Regts" to counter China's threat in the Pacific. But with the integration of male and female entry level training IMO the real measurable outcome will be the lowering of standards. Every single organization in the military and police forces experienced this once they started entry level training as coed. I am NOT anti woman in anything. I had fierce, smart courageous women I served with in the Marine Corps. BUT we are just not made the same. Ask yourself this. How many female fire fighters died on 9/11 in the towers attempting to reach those trapped? Zero......not that there werent female fire fighters there. They were in the NYFD for a long time. But none died in the towers........ask yourself why. There will absolutely be a lowering of standards in entry level training in the Marine Corps.

    The Marines now have their own F-35 fighters. It's called F-35B and it is the only aircraft that can take off and land vertically.
    The Navy has the F-35C, which is build for taking off and storage on an aircraft carrier. The C in its name stands for CARRIER.
    The Air Force has its own F-35 as well. It is called the F-35A A means Air Force

    • @brucew7062
      @brucew7062 Год назад

      That’s like saying the “B” in F-35B is for “both”. The A and C are merely designations and do not mean “Air Force” or “Carrier”. Example is F/A-18A…the Air Force doesn’t fly them. The F/A-18F Super Hornet is deployed on carriers, or should that be “farriers”?

    One error in the first 3 minutes of the video: each Marine IS, in fact, a weapon aystem in and of themselves. The training they go through makes them so. I'm related to one, and have had the pleasure of knowing several more, and, to a person, they are all walking, talking, living, breathing weapon systems, whether they are armed or not. Make no mistake about that.

    A basic understanding of America's military and it's roles.
    The Navy provides transportation and logistics for the Marine Corps. (Uber & DoorDash) 🛻
    The Marines are the first in to lay waste to far off foreign lands and kill everything we see. 😈
    The Army then becomes an occupational unit after the fighting is done. (Mall cops and janitors) 👮‍♂️
    The Air Force sits in their air conditioned hotel rooms playing video games or something. 🤷‍♂️

  • @tragene2250

    The Marine Corps goes in first as a fighting force and secures the area. The Army comes in as an occupying force. The missions have become more entangled and that is one reason the Corps is removing the tanks. LAV's, with proper recon and tank killing ability, are a more reasonable selection.

    BTW-For the first time in Marine Corps history the Marine Corps could not meet its required title 10 mission requirements for a NEOOP (Non combatant evacuation operation) in Sudan. Why?? The excuse was not enough amphibious ships to deploy the Marine Expeditionary Units (MEU) which are designed to constantly patrol the world and respond to global emergencies. The Marine Commandant blamed this on the Navy. Which IMO rings hollow. SO why werent the Marines ready? Congress needs to really put the Commandant on the hot seat and ask the real questions why the Marines were not prepared. For the first time in our nations history. There is a problem...........

    Well here we go again, talking about who is the toughest Military-Men of the U.S. Armed Forces; and from my perspective and what I've seen face to face, The Marines are definitely not the toughest, roughest, or the smartest when it comes to Combat Infantry Fighting, due to the fact that back in 1970's when we were stationed in Korea on the DMZ, patrolling the border between North and South Korea, we invited the U.S. Marines to patrol on the DMZ, MIDNIGHT PATROL, and when the mission started, the Marines PANIC and was Afraid to complete the tour of duty for eight hours. What a total Disappointment, no wonder they are called the few, the loud, and the first to Run in the other direction. Now Let's Hear from anyone who says different???????

      I hate that the families are constantly uprooted...I know we need military.. but the children NEED the stability of having a home town, life long friends from school.. there's something special about having these that carry you through life and ground you.. it gives you roots.
      Absolutely living in different countries or states can be an experience but the roots are lost.
      I feel sorry for the children whom just make friends or really love where they are living.. then must be uprooted every so many years.
