I miss seeing Xiao Zhan this silly in his BTS. After all the drama, he seems almost like a different person now. He presents himself so carefully and is rarely caught candid or being silly. Its a shame because he's adorable.
I think because of the blacklisting of ZZH and boy- love dramas, he wanted to distance himself from the entire genre. His last public interactions with Yibo were very cold. It was heartbreaking to see. They had a very warm friendship (possibly more?) on set and that doesn't seem to have carried through to other projects and colleagues. I think his behavior is one of self-preservation in the industry because of the attitude of the CCP &: censorship. Although it's not illegal, LGBTQ+ have no protections under the law and the Party has shut down anything they think "promotes" support for the population, like boy-love dramas, effeminate looking men (hence their ban on heavily made-up men) and the blacklisting of ZZH (who isn't even gay!) That entire reaction about him being pro-Japanese was a pretense, for anyone who had eyes & a brain. Certain actors have made an obvious attempt to distance themselves from such and take on macho roles that portray them as soldiers, etc. Very sad statement on the Party and their inhumane & demeaning policies.
