Hi Henry, where did you get the channel picker tool, or did you make it? Can you recommend a purfling design for a French & string bass Viol? I think most surviving French viols did not have elaborate or geometric patterns.

I think I found it on dictum.com. It was made by Pfeil.
Indeed, French viols did not have elaborate purfling ornaments. If you're looking for some inspirations check out English models by Norman, Jaye, Rose or Meares.
