As a former resident of the upper Midwest in the US, I think the type of precipitation that surprised you was sleet, a particularly miserable mixture of icy rain and snow, so that if it is windy and you are walking into it, it feels like needles hitting you in the face! If it gets colder, then roads can get dangerously icy. So glad that bit of rough weather cleared up for you! Sleet is hail’s nastier big brother. Please excuse the diatribe/editorial! 😂 I loved the various brocante visits. There was what might be called a refectory table that looked useful. So many beautiful things! Can’t wait to see all your purchases and how you arrange everything! Thanks for the cheery jaunt!

I've always loved the beautiful old wardrobe cabinets. Here in America most of our homes are just too small for such a large piece of furniture. Years ago the old plantation style homes could accommodate such a large piece of furniture because their rooms were really large and the ceilings were really high. Kathy USA
I think that's why there are so many of them and cheap, they no longer build the homes like they used to.
I love the big style of furniture. Solid wood is the best. Wow, cool bottles, lots of lovely thing to choose from. Such fun seeing all the old styles. Goodness this is the way our weather here in Kentucky USA goes. lol lol Wow he does have awesomely beautiful pieces. Lovely china. The carving on this piece is outstanding and so beautiful. That is a beautiful set! Love the colors too.
You was well restrained Lesa so many lovely pieces you could of bought, but you stuck to your guns and just bought what was needed. You say about the snow when we were in France one year at our house in April we got all the furniture for out side to sit in the sun...and the next day I woke up looked out and we had 8inches of snow 😆 Lovely piece you bought can not wait to see the rest of it. Please, please get the carriage and refurbish! You could offer paid rides for tourists. Just to see the love and care you guys would put into it would be lovely to watch!

How can you tell which wardrobes come apart to move them?
Careful inspection, most of the very large ones would have been built in situ when they were made. The older ones are usually fixed together with wooden pegs so they are easier to dismantle
@@ChateauDeMontmagner -Thanks for explaining that to me. I thought that is such a brilliant idea when I first saw them. It would make it so much easier to transport them and to move them into rooms. Hope you happen upon some!

I see you have some veneer repair and refinishing to do. Can I suggest watching ruclips.net/user/ThomasJohnsonAntiqueFurnitureRestoration. He's an absolute master furniture restorer and does an excellent job explaining how to do repairs properly. Anyone can follow what he does. You have a beautiful piece and it will be even more beautiful once you've restored it.
