- Since our Barndominium plans arent working out, we stopped by America's Home Place to check out what they had to offer. This is a video tour & recap of our visit with their Conroe, TX location.

This most recent holliday "labor day". 2019 after selling our home
We found ourselves homeless living with her parents for 3 weeks
And counting. All because our Title Company wasn't very good at their job.
We reached out to our realtor to see if perhaps she knew of a
Different title company who could help us. With one of your subscribers words of encouragement and help of God we are closing on our new adventure this Tuesday morning. Sept 17, 2019 in Dallas. I recommend trying something different shaking things up and perhaps finding another lender to help make your families dream come true I'll continue to follow your adventurers. It is wise for ALL POTENIAL BUILDING CLIENT'S to pay an attorney's retaining fee before signing any contract with AHP or ender. It is money well spent as you know now.

Hi... did you guys go with one of Ahp preferred lenders ? If so how was the process (pretty easy or Long) is the minimum credit score 640 or does it need to be higher? Thanks
We did not use the preferred lender, as we already had our financing in place for our previous Barndominium plans. Our lender has to “approve” AHP as a builder, but did so pretty quickly and now they can use them for other clients as well.
A constuction loan will cost upwards of $10,000 in closing costs. Secure your loan before signing any contracts or paper work with AHP. AHP is in the game to take your money not refund it!. They also require $1,000 upfront cash commitment from you, NON REFUNDABLE for ANY reason. It is best to pay an attorney's retaining fee before you enter into any contracts with AHP. You will save yourself lots of money, AHP will nickle and dime you to death.

I would definitely check to see where their nearest office is. They are scatter all across the Southern US!
I was looking forward to your plan on paper to come alive in real life please dont rule out trying another lender and give it a try, I was counting on you to blaze the trail so that I could do one haha but no pressure
How close was the actual cost of building compared to what American Home Place offered and was there any unexpected cost. What was not covered in the home. Like site prep
Site prep or "LAND IMPROVEMENTS" as AHP likes to label it will be exponetial to the base model price. Also the physical issues of the land you are wishing to build on. (who they hire and how experienced they are with equiptment can factor in). Time is Money thing. AHP has a minimum 'LAND INPROVEMENT" costs. It is in the neighborhood of starting at $56,000 and upwards as they deem necessary. It probably has to do with profit? Best to ask them up front for an "honest" estimate! Land Improvement can go as high as $100,000.
It really just depends on your home site… we spent maybe an additional $20k or so on site prep (septic, dirt work, construction driveway, we’ll, etc)
But all of those numbers were quoted to us prior to signing, and we had an allowance system for all those items. I believe in the end, we maybe only went “over” by less than $3,000 on our entire home project. I chalk a lot of that up to our construction manager and his lengthy experience in the market.

I posted this on your last video kind of late maybe it was missed so i'm just saying it again don't let the bank dictate your dreams try another lender other people are getting loans for Barndos maybe even a different Barndo builder could recomend a lender "I'm planing on building a Barndo in the future and I'm inspired by your adventure I'm sorry to hear about your latest stumbling block i hope you don't have to give up on the Barndo style I'm sure your builder has recommended a direction to help find the right lender I'm no expert in this area have you tried farm or land lender please keep us posted"
I agree with your comment because my wife and I experienced the same thing Luke Bryan and his family has and after we change the title companies low and behold our dreams of life in the country you'll soon come true I hope Brian read your comment.
