There is so much varied information on YT about this technique, it would be nice to see a person or company post one that just explains and demonstrates what the real traditional method was.

We use a traditional proprietary oil blend for most of our products. Some use simple Tung oil though!

@@NakamotoForestryNorthAmerica what pigment do you use to stain the oil/alkyd black? Oxide?
Use cuttlefish ink in motor oil
