Bought these bulbs from Amazon the other day.

This is good if you have lamps in a waiting room and the power goes out

Does the bulb charge if the bulb is switched off? Or does the bulb need to be switched on to charge?

Hi there. Sorry for the delay! The bulb automatically recharges when the light is on and it’s in a powered fixture.

It doesn’t turn off even when not in flashlight mode you turn the light off and it stays on
Edit: so in the bathroom it works normally but in the ceiling fan in my bedroom it just stays on. So if you’re putting it in a ceiling fan it might not work. Does not work with smart switches either. The light will come on after a few min.

They use 230 volts at 50 Hz. US bulbs use 120 volts at 60 Hz. Those bulbs will fry in a 230 volt socket. ⚡

Does not automatically turn on in a power outage. You have to reach in and flip the switch. Not what I thought it was. I purchased for power outages for the kids room who are scared of the dark. Does not work as intended.

Hi there. In case of a power outage, if the wall switch is on, the bulb will automatically go to battery backup and turn on. If you have any more questions or concerns, or if you’d like our Support team to walk through this feature with you, please call us at 1-800-435-4448.

If I pull the plug on the lamp, should that not imitate a power failure? That's how i tested it.@@GELightingaSavantCompany

@@jorgefernandez281 I'm sorry GE hasn't replied, so I will try to answer your question instead. The bulbs don't work by just turning on when they don't have power - instead, they work by checking to see if the light's circuit is closed. That means even with the power out, the bulb knows that the switch is in the on position and it stays on (and vice versa for it being off). You could try to simulate this by shutting the breaker for a particular outlet off with your lamp plugged into that outlet. If the lamp was on before, it should stay on, and if it was off before, it should stay off but turn on if you flick the switch on the lamp.

@@jocelynbaker6718 I really like these bulbs and maybe you can help answer this specific twist on that question. I understood everything you said before. I just bought Lutron Diva smart switches for the whole house, my concern is if the power goes out while the bulb is on, will I be able to turn off the lights, or will they be stuck on the on position since that was the last position on the SMART switch before it went out

@@DammitWrongName that’s a very interesting question! Smart switches work by electronically controlling a relay (effectively a switch that opens and closes using an electromagnet to pull switch contacts together - that’s the “click” sound you hear right after flicking your smart switch that coincides with the lights turning off or on). When power goes out, power to the electromagnet is lost and the switch contacts are separated - they’re usually bent away from each other so, without a magnet, they won’t touch - turning off the circuit. Based on how I assume the Diva switches are designed, you likely won’t get the proper functionality from these bulbs as the switches should break the circuit when they don’t have power, effectively making the bulbs think the switches are set to off. That being said, they may be designed to retain their state, in which case you would get stuck with some lights turned on, but I wouldn’t assume this to be the case.
If I were you, I would purchase one of these bulbs to test with your smart switches, using the breaker to simulate a power outage. Let us know what you find out - it might help others considering these bulbs who use smart switches!
