We moved from suburban Wisconsin to a country homestead in East Tennessee a year ago. That first year, I worked constantly. Establishing a garden, chickens, and tons of other projects. This year I need to continue the pace, but I'm so burnt out I'm finding it hard to do much of anything. The idea of being bored is something I can't wrap my head around. I'm going to take your advice and try to not beat myself up when I take some time to do nothing. By the way, I'm 65. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks!
I've been living in East Tennessee the past five years, after having spent decades camping and hiking in the Smokies on vacations. It truly is a wonderful place. I am moving back to Florida to be near my son and grandsons soon and I will miss it so much. I wish you all the best in your new endeavor. Don't work too hard. Isabel is truly an inspiration. ♥️🌲🍁🍂🌾
us too, my husband and I have worked constantly most of our lives remodeling the houses we live in along with working and raising a family. Now that were older, we just finished working on a house non stop for 5 years and also working at jobs., The house is done but I'm now burnt out mentally and physically for the first time in my life. I've also been fighting the thought of doing nothing although doing something all the time is to much work and I can't or don't want to do it anymore., So I am now embracing just not doing much when I don't have to. Going for slow walks, sitting on the deck, just laying in bed thinking. I'm now accepting that, that's okay! The world makes you feel like you should always be doing something and if not there's something wrong with you. But I am now rejecting that way of life. We've worked all our lives so we wouldn't have to work as much some day or not at all. So now it's time to not work much.
Homesteading in farming has a certain circadian rhythm. If you're doing this alone then you're going to have to multitask more than if you have somebody with you or others. You're going to work everyday because you're homesteader however if your energy is in the morning the most fun in the morning then slow it down at noon to 3:00 p.m. then pick it back up until about 7:00 p.m. then slow it back down and in for the night. You have to have a rhythm with it or it will kick your behind. You know that feeling you get when you watch Isabel's videos where it's peaceful and she's very mindful of her surroundings that's what homesteading is like so make sure you do that as well, I'll be moving to East Tennessee sooner than later I'll be doing the same thing. Peace to you.

To keep the animals out, you must attach small square wire fencing, buried under ground that comes out about a foot from the upright fencing. It is a lot of work but worth it to save you garden. We have some fish we can see now at all stages of development, & a huge crane has plenty to eat, which is beautiful, too! We can't walk up the mtn on the other side of the stream, as it goes nearly straight up, & is just covered in a thick variety of trees. Our property takes up a whole curve on the mtn so we can't see anyone on either side, & the mtn across the street goes just about straight up, too! We bought the house sev yrs ago & land for very cheap, & the house is in a state of renovation, so we travel from central NC where we live to go up there every weekend. Can't wait to be there full-time! We're already planting! Anyway, sorry so long, ya'll - these vids just inspire me to share, & just let ppl know that this life is all we get, & being around nature is in our DNA - we're not supposed to work to live while living to work! It's awesome to just live by the seasons, be humble, plant & harvest, & explore what God gave us♡
My father never saw bordem as a detriment for us kids as we were growing up - he recognised the potential for creativity and inspiration to come through in these moments
My favorite parts of your videos are the times when you're cooking! It's so relaxing. I'd love an entire video of just you cooking, in the style you film it.
Seeing you run in the field with your cats following you feels so nostalgic for me. Like a movie that I watched as a young girl. It’s just incredible. There’s so much personality, animation and humor in those scenes. It’s so potent and full of adoration.
You're so soft and kind! A very gentle and tender soul. I admire you so much! You are young but so alive, not a lonely bear in the mountains but a sparkling girl that doesn't fear handle work and the lack of facilities. Your smile is genuine like your way of living. You're really inspiring, keep it up!
Your vlogs evoke peaceful serenity and a healthy well-being among such majestic mountains. The life you lead is a beautiful example of appreciated blessings and gratitude. Both you and Logan are absolutely BEAUTIFUL people. Thank you for reminding me of what is truly important. 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Isabel! When you go up the mountain, around the minute 12:48, there's so many pine cones on the floor... In Portugal, we pick them from the floor, we take them home on giant bags and we use them as a fire starter during the winter. They are the best thing to start a fire. You just need a match and set one pine cone on fire, put it in the fire pit and join one or two more pine cones..and go from there. No paper needed or anything else.... Besides that, the pine cone burning has the most wonderful smell....
So glad the snow is gone. It's been a long cold winter even where I live. Awww, spring and fall, love them. They just don't last long enough. Enjoy life.
Thank you for sharing Isabel about how intentionally doing nothing from time to time calms your soul. I totally agree. Spirit and Soul become something else.💚
I am so glad you speak and feel into the physicality of doing things from scratch. I think we all overestimate our own strength and than expecting too much of ourselves and others.
Thank you for sharing Isabel. The flowers were very pretty you picked high up in the mountains, it was magical, I almost could smell the wet Earth. Perfect way to end the day with a nice 🔥 fire and you TWO together under the night. sky.
The way your cooking segments are have ALWAYS been my favorite parts along with the shots of you walking with incredible views in the background. I was hoping to see where being in Europe would take you but seeing the wonderful mountain landscapes again is nice and almost nostalgic. I love your videos!! They are so inspiring and relaxing to me.♥️♥️♥️ keep being you Isabel!
Isabel, you have such a freedom in your lifestyle that helps you to explore and appreciate your surroundings. Thank you for sharing and creating the inner peace. ❤💐🏵
Isabel, your videos are always so beautiful to watch. They really generate a sense of calm and peace for me. I just want you to know what a difference you are making for so many people, and what a contribution to the world you are. 🙏🏻💖✨

I have been just thinking the same about rest , and to allow myself to relax. I have worked so hard this week, on my projects ,and finally something has shifted and got so much joy from the success of it, that I cried tears of joy ,and then spent the morning in the bike today, and the afternoon laying in the hammock on the sun , with my dog, listening the birds and wind chime , and felt so so happy, that I got to rest and enjoy it immensely.
Such peaceful and serenity in your surroundings. The view from the mountaintop with the lights below was, to use your words-just magical. Love watching you put a meal or bread together. Can’t wait till I get the email about the cookbook. Books make it easier for me to want to make things. Glad Black didn’t fully disappear 🐈⬛ 💕
Living a simple life, loving yourself and your surroundings is when we are at our strongest. Daily mundane activities tend to drain our true identity, I admire Isabel for her dedication in showing the world how simple it is to live a good, happy life....
Spring is so beautiful! I experienced the same thing thing the other day with noticing how green everything had turned, seemingly over night. I live on the Rogue River in Oregon. I went away for two or three weeks and came back to a spring wonderland after all the rain we got. It’s so magical. 🌷💚🌱🍀🌸🌞🌼🌺🌷☘️🌱🌿🍄
I will never get tired of watching you run up the mountain wearing a dress, collecting wildflowers on the way while your cats follow close behind. And your cold river bathing is magical. Living water, there's nothing like it.
I have watched your videos and you talk about your strengths and struggles and everything you do and talk about really helps me. I will have your video on and at the same time will be inspired to actually get up and do stuff. I have had a really hard time in the last 2yrs. And your the only one that I feel like I can relate to you. Please don't stop. I love watching and learning from you. Thank you.🙂
Your thoughts on boredom and undistracted time really hit me. Thank you for being honest about your feelings - it helped me understand my own habits and my fears. As a parent I try to instill better habits in my kids but it’s so hard to do that when I still have my own bad habits.
I think you are such an absolute divine angelic being. I admire your soul. Thank you for being exactly the way you are and sharing your life with the rest of the collective. I feel such joy watching another Earth Angel inspire (: with love I wish you many blessings.
Each video you make tells such a beautiful story. It's authentic, calming, and a treat to watch; it almost feels indulgent. Thank you for sharing your life in the PNW mountains with us! Much love from NC
@@itzakpoelzig330 I’m pretty sure she is in Washington state as she’s mentioned landmarks near there in her past videos. I agree, it is absolutely beautiful there, in every season!
Oh my gosh, I was so feeling you when you were talking about boredom. Having a 4 year old daughter and a new born baby. I would love to feel boredom or just sit and watch the birds in the trees it's such an amazing feeling when you have been so super busy
Wonderful to see you again Isabel, after some time, I've been elsewhere. Ah! and such a lovely man you are sharing with, the two of you seem so comforting and wholesome together, for youngsters like you it's a testament to the choices you have made to put yourselves "alone" among nature and sustain your daily routines continually building, and forming your space. I love how you share your essence of life with us, thank you thank you thank you.
I live a few mountain ranges over from you in Montana! I don’t think it sounds weird to have a few hours in the day to do nothing! I do the same. My husband and I run a 15 acre farm/ranch. And even tho it’s so much work, we love the slow pace life this life style affords us! We chose to leave social media, and we have a 700 book home library. So most of our evenings is quiet reading evenings, or just watching the sun set from our bed. We got the same snow storm as you and we are finally out of the melt down! We are still a bit to cold to put the starters out yet! But the warm is coming!🌞 Praise God! Also my husband is learning a lot about soil micro Biology and our farm is doing so good. If you need any tips he is willing to share his knowledge. It’s a lot of work but so worth it!👍🏼👌🏼🤟🏼🥰😜
A true documentation of the lives of 2 highly creative intellectuals who do not play common societal games. With honesty and without sharing too much. Dealing with the difficult situations privately and sharing it with joy
It's funny how it brings me soo much calm and relaxation when watching your videos, and it makes me sad when you speak of being tired/exhausted etc. Is it possible for you to "just be?" Let your spirit guide you?? Logan seems like he's definitely over all the weeding n stuff, and just wants to focus on his music, something he's very good at....Peace/Blessings❤️

I love your kitties..They are so sweet and sociable. As a northeasterner .living in the South I still love the seasons. We have them where I live but not as extreme as the northeast. Keep on doing what your doing...Positivity!!!!
Another exceptional, beautiful, video, wonderful words of wisdom and music to match it. Thank you Isabel, Logan, nature, cats, and viewers who share in appreciation too.

You seem Happy to be back Home!!! I wouldn't blame ya, Its Beautiful there!! And the kitties, Black and White probably missed you bunches!!! Oh and the ending to your Vlog, Wow!!! Blessings for a Thriving Garden!!!❤🌻🏞🐾💙🐾
Beautiful snow fall and then Spring and the earth begins to waken from winter slumber. I love the way you make your breads and what you cook. You are quite amazing. It’s lovely seeing you back home and your kitties again. You live in a beautiful area. So peaceful. Seeing you both walk the mountain and get to the top in snow, rain or not is eye opening at how beautiful everything is when you reach the top. I love the river.. so soothing to listen to as well. Have a glorious week.
Hello Isabel! And every fellow flower picker. I love to pick flowers, too. I noticed, that you like to pick all flowers from one little plant. To make sure that the plant comes back in the next year, it is important to pick only a few and let some stand from each plant. It should look like "as if no one has been there". Just a little hint, because I thought it would be better to pick off one entire plant, so not every plant gets hurt. But I learnt it is better to spread the picking a little bit, so the plant can survive. Much love to everyone!!!! (PS: always enjoy your videos to the max Isabel!)
Hi sweet girl. Thank you so much for inspiring me, and so many others. It's wonderful to see and Logan together. Love you and wish all good things for you and yours 💞
So refreshing to watch you Isabel! You live a life I can only dream of! I hope you won't have any snow any more and that the spring will finally settle and surround you with green and singing birds! xx
So, so lovely and soul soothing to see all the rain and greenery!!! I live in beautiful northern New Mexico, but right now we are consumed with drought, horrendous winds, wildfires and smoke. So calming and uplifting to watch your lovely videos. Oh, and the cat energy is wonderful!
This is so relaxing! And I looove seeing you cook over an open fire or when you bake something in your fire stove! Would love to see how it is done exactly and what one needs to look out for when doing this as well.😊
I am perpetually bored and simultaneously burnt out. I live in the suburbs. Concrete slab after concrete slab. With mild seasons that barely change. There is little inspiration here...so for now, I live vicariously through you. Thank goddess for coping mechanisms I guess 😂
Don't underestimate the added stress from the world events we are all dealing with. Even when I deliberate ignore it -- it's still there in the background. I agree with you about analyzing ourselves and our motivations. :)
Happy almost birthday Isa! It was my birthday on Friday and I spent the day in the Hoh rainforest, which isn’t far from our home. It was so beautiful and I didn’t want to leave. I had plans to continue the birthday celebrations throughout the weekend but my body had different plans and I’ve been stuck in bed with a cold since yesterday morning. It’s always struck me how relevant and poignant your messages in your videos are, like now when I was feeling mopey that my birthday weekend plans changed you reminded me of the beautiful boredom that can be so peaceful. Thank you and so much love to you all 💚
You sure tell a nice story. I’ve enjoyed watching you grow. At first, I wasn’t sure about Jason. Was I ever wrong. He too is amazing. Much love from the Sunshine state!
Thank you for all your work and the wonderful peace & Light you bring us with your videos. Sending you Love and Light from Washington state .Have a blessed week 💖 🌟
I love the asmr of your videos! I could watch them over and over again. You’re so calming and I just love how you love the earth! I know what you mean about the smells of the wet dirt…the smells of the woods are the best, between the rain and the wet leaves and the freshness of it all. It’s exilarating (I don’t know how to spell that word) 😂 Anyway, I love your down to earth ways. You’re easy to relate to! All the love to you ❤️
Isabel, have y'all thought about the Back to Eden method using mulch? I bet you could find plenty of tree trimmers out there that want to dump their hardwood chips. It's great for weed suppression, and it all composts into the most amazing stuff, filled with mycelium! ❤
@@fdpcompdm why are people like you always around to pee on someone's joy? Is it jealousy that makes you so mean?? What is your reason for going out of your way to squash orhers happiness!!!
It's awesome to just live by the seasons, be humble, plant & harvest, & explore what God gave us♡
@@Trish.... Maybe plant a small side crop, just for the deer?
I needed this so much. Her lust for life and nature, her calm and wisdom. It grounds me and centers me.
Settling me from the chaos of my mind.
I love the smell of wet earth too! It's one of the best smells and is called petrichor. Thanks for sharing your story 💜
🖐👉The Connections (2021) [short documentary] 💖✌
my favourite smell too
Petrichor? Thank you.
It is the great smell of rebirth.
8:26 The good thing about rain, it makes weeding easier. The ground is softer.
I enjoy watching you and your fur babies rollicking throughout Mother Natures beautiful forest and streams ❤️🐾🐾❤️
Your vlogs evoke peaceful serenity and a healthy well-being among such majestic mountains. The life you lead is a beautiful example of appreciated blessings and gratitude. Both you and Logan are absolutely BEAUTIFUL people. Thank you for reminding me of what is truly important. 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Greetings from Finland! We totally get that Spring hype, it's so amazing every time! 😎🙏
Besides that, the pine cone burning has the most wonderful smell....
people like you, miss isabel, reconnect us human beings with earth as we truly, so desperately need. thank you for just being you and showing us.
So glad the snow is gone. It's been a long cold winter even where I live. Awww, spring and fall, love them. They just don't last long enough. Enjoy life.
From all her skills, I might be most impressed by how she does random chores like gardening in a perfect flat footed squat 🥰
Since I started doing yoga a few years ago, I started doing that too. It’s quite comfortable for the back.
yessssss!!! soo jealous. it's all ankle and hip mobility...
Those cats are living their best life with you two! So stinking pure!
You four live the best life. Thank you for bringing us along. Blessings 💐

It's such a beautiful peaceful song
on repeat 🔁 Love when you place your original music in your video💛
Thank you for sharing Isabel about how intentionally doing nothing from time to time calms your soul. I totally agree. Spirit and Soul become something else.💚
I am so glad you speak and feel into the physicality of doing things from scratch. I think we all overestimate our own strength and than expecting too much of ourselves and others.
Thank you for sharing Isabel. The flowers were very pretty you picked high up in the mountains, it was magical, I almost could smell the wet Earth. Perfect way to end the day with a nice 🔥 fire and you TWO together under the night.

Hey
Isabel, you have such a freedom in your lifestyle that helps you to explore and appreciate your surroundings. Thank you for sharing and creating the inner peace. ❤💐🏵
The crackling of your fires outside and in the stove is pure music!! Loving yall from NC!!
“The seasons really teach us to appreciate everything when it’s here, because soon it will be gone.”
Love it.
Living a simple life, loving yourself and your surroundings is when we are at our strongest. Daily mundane activities tend to drain our true identity, I admire Isabel for her dedication in showing the world how simple it is to live a good, happy life....
Thank you Isabel for your life and love for the earth. Love watching your baking, gardening, and hiking with the kitties. Prayers are with you!
Love watching you videos, it feels so pure and beautifully...
I love your thoughts on the wisdom and opportunity that boredom provides. Well done.
Love the aesthetic of your videos! Tiny house + farm in the mountains >>>
I love how the kitties are so happy to live with you :)
I think you are such an absolute divine angelic being. I admire your soul. Thank you for being exactly the way you are and sharing your life with the rest of the collective. I feel such joy watching another Earth Angel inspire (: with love I wish you many blessings.
I love how the little white cat loves jumping off the trees 🤍😭
Watching you and your life, make me feel calm. It,s a good feeling. 🥰🥰
Each video you make tells such a beautiful story. It's authentic, calming, and a treat to watch; it almost feels indulgent. Thank you for sharing your life in the PNW mountains with us! Much love from NC

Has she said where she is, exactly? I want to buy property there, it looks so perfect, like my life-long dream come true!
@@itzakpoelzig330 I’m pretty sure she is in Washington state as she’s mentioned landmarks near there in her past videos. I agree, it is absolutely beautiful there, in every season!

Thank you Isabel ! For just being yourself and share it with us.
I love the kitties tails when they follow you.✨💯🕊❤️🙏🏻😻
Oh my gosh, I was so feeling you when you were talking about boredom. Having a 4 year old daughter and a new born baby. I would love to feel boredom or just sit and watch the birds in the trees it's such an amazing feeling when you have been so super busy
white climbing the tree in the background of the one shot was hilarious. love how the kitties follow her everywhere
It’s a lot of work but so worth it!👍🏼👌🏼🤟🏼🥰😜
You want more snow and moisture this time of year. Your soil is so nice. Very new homesteaders plant a garden, then leave for a week.
Watching the cats follow you around is great! Keep up your spirits!
A true documentation of the lives of 2 highly creative intellectuals who do not play common societal games. With honesty and without sharing too much. Dealing with the difficult situations privately and sharing it with joy
I love your videos , the nature , the calm is therapeutic for me . Thank you !!!! 💖
Being a woman around the same age as me and doing so many amazing things is such an inspiration. You are so wonderful ♥️
Spring rains are the best, the smell in the air afterwards, especially in a forest - I could almost smell it watching the video.
Omg I've been waiting patiently.i appreciate you sharing your life with us .the sense n calm we get from your videos like wow . thank you and we love you
The change of seasons where the days get warmer and longer is my absolute favorite thing in the whole world 🥰
I love your kitties..They are so sweet and sociable.
Beautiful 💜 😍 Montana is still comming alive I'm waiting patiently for the green to show itself..today we have sun so working on the homestead outside..so greatful that my journey was thrust into reality when I witnessed your move to the mountains..Now here we are in our mountain paradise ✨ much love from the Mountains of Montana..
The sound of the rain and the crackling of the fire is so calming.
You 2 are really living a magical life. Maybe one day in the future all people will live a magical life like this.
Perhaps decades from now. Humans today simply have no flippin’ clue what life is all about.

I feel you touched on a very important thing when you talked about how we tend to fill up our time and not take time during the day to just be.
Would love to see how it is done exactly and what one needs to look out for when doing this as well.😊
Yes it’s so relaxing
There is absolutely nothing better than this beautiful nature and you being amazed by it, next to your cats and Logan.
What a beautiful human being you are Isabel, may you continue to grow and inspire us! Sending much love ❤️

I am perpetually bored and simultaneously burnt out. I live in the suburbs. Concrete slab after concrete slab. With mild seasons that barely change. There is little inspiration here...so for now, I live vicariously through you. Thank goddess for coping mechanisms I guess 😂
Really looking forward to spend spring with your videos, like the year before☺️
Don't underestimate the added stress from the world events we are all dealing with. Even when I deliberate ignore it -- it's still there in the background.
I agree with you about analyzing ourselves and our motivations. :)
Even in the red desert of Utah where I'm currently living, spring has very suddenly sprung and it's so amazing to see!!
So excited to watch the garden progress!

You inspire me so much Isabel I love your videos thanks for sharing your life and wisdom with the world ❤️🌹
Happy almost birthday Isa!

All the love to you ❤️
I agree !! Exhilarating
Isabel, have y'all thought about the Back to Eden method using mulch? I bet you could find plenty of tree trimmers out there that want to dump their hardwood chips. It's great for weed suppression, and it all composts into the most amazing stuff, filled with mycelium! ❤

For sure, with all the downed wood they have around there they could be doing hugleculture and lasagna gardening
Do you really think she cares about gardening that much?! She does it for views lol
@@fdpcompdm why are people like you always around to pee on someone's joy?
Is it jealousy that makes you so mean?? What is your reason for going out of your way to squash orhers happiness!!! I don't get it, seriously!!!!
Maybe spend that time working towards some positive change for yourself?
Life is too short to spend it looking for something to rain on....try spreading a lil sunshine instead?? You might be surprised at how fulfilling it is just to be kind to others.
