It’s so cool to look back to see how much you have done over the years. It is impressive.
thank you!
Yes everyone ought to do it! ❤ One year I did the challenge for a month I think it was for? You write down everything good that happens to you. I had a whole jar full! 💗
I love the colors in your next Dino block. When you were showing us last week I was doubtful but you ARE a color master.
My favorite leisure activity now that my kids are grown up is Family game night. My daughter who lives here, I as well as friends get together a couple of times each month and play board games. Last time was so funny, we had decided to play our childhood favorites, so Candyland and Shoots and Ladders came out and we had so much fun.
I have the book and I’ve been cutting out the fabrics for mine in red and white, can’t wait to start making it
thank you!
Love ❤️ reading outside and having coffee ☕️!! Of course hang out with my dogs .
The Dino blocks are awesome
Oh these critter quilts!🤣🤣🤣💕 It’ll be FUN they said!🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great! GREAT job on each one Pat💕🧵
Just when we think it can't get any better--the latest critter quilt is just darling!
Our summer adventure, activities used to be to go out the lake where we had a trailer. It was nice watching the sunrise and sunset two weekends a month. We sold the trailer, but now I try to sit on our porch once in a while, and I walked my dog to see the sunrise. it is hard to type in comments with a cat on your chest. Have a great day my Quilting Friend .
I LOVE your Dino’s. So amazing. In summer, I love walking early in the morning because there are so many birds singing away.
Pat, without realizing it, I looked and I have 11 of your books. Mostly older but a few newer ones. I recognized what I had as you went through yours. How blessed I am!!!
Dinoblocks are ❤ and your pattern awesome🎉, I have to make it soon😊 ( some winter version maybe).
Loving your Dino blocks. I can’t wait to see the quilt when it’s done. I have a thing for dinosaurs, loved the Jurassic park movies.
We love to go camping and drinking our coffee outside - enjoying nature!
Pat it's wonderful seeing you feel so good!! I'm so glad your cold appears to be over!! I came down with one Saturday 😢 and I'm watching your video with a very fuzzy head and congested chest, but your video is the highlight of my day.
thank you! I hope yours goes away faster than mine!
@@PatSloan Thank you so much so.
You have such a wonderful eye for color. I never would’ve put those dark colors on the background. They look wonderful.
I love your Blocks!! So bright and pretty!!
Love the critter quilt already. Thanks for explaining how you do it, when you are plugging in your own quilt blocks to make a quilt. I’ve been doing it like that for a while. I keep thinking there has to be a better way. Hubby bought me EQ5 I think a few years ago; and I’ve NEVER gotten into using it. I need to get an update to it; and start using it on my IMAC. Thanks again for all you do! ❤
Going to the Saratoga Race Track at this racing season with the family at least a couple times. The kids like to see the beautiful horses. We go early in the morning and watch the thoroughbred horses workout.
We also have a pool at home, which our grandchildren absolutely love.
Hi Pat,
Thank you so much for doing the book nook review.
I have so many of your older patterns and books pre-RUclips fame ❤
Love you, Pat, so much!
And the Dino quilt-yes! Thank you for in inspiration.
thank you!
Hi Pat,
Thank you so much for doing the book nook review.
I have so many of your older patterns and books pre-RUclips fame ❤
Love you, Pat, so much!
I still have some of the Irish book series! 🩷 Swimming, air conditioning lol
Once a year or sew I peruse my quilt library and enjoy revisiting my {Must do this one} list🗂️📙📘📕 to get my groove on. This summer I managed to break both arms in a trip &fall so sewing is not on my agenda 🤕. I love watching you go through your various projects….it keeps my juices flowing so thanks. You are one of my lifelines!
Blessings on speedy healing. I know how much you miss sewing! I had carpal tunnel surgery on right hand recently and no sewing for a while.😢 left hand surgery scheduled early September so I will be sewing 24/7 mid August to early September!! It is my peaceful place and I miss it. So many patterns so little time! You take care and heal well. Blessings, Dawn
Central Valley, California
It was awesome seeing and hearing about all of your books! Wish I'd of been into quilting with you all those years that you were publishing great books! I was still into garment sewing when I had a chance to sew in the early 2000's. It's neat to see your thought process as you begin the new Critter Quilt--definitely a lot of work but so worth it when it's all put together. Glad you're feeling better!
thank you Jenny!
Your Crush quilt is going to be very fun! I am enjoying your process with the Critter quilt and it is fun to see my blocks in this one. When I think of Summer leisure, I think of dangling my feet in water. Could be a kiddie pool or on a dock at a lake or a stream. It doesn't matter - just need to put my feet in water.
Finally!! I have been so excited to see how your second block "Crush". I knew it would be terrific; however, my brain just couldn't figure it out. Thank you so much for allowing us to view your process.
What a fabulous legacy those books are!
I’m also in the Texas Panhandle! (Amarillo). Loved sitting by the creeks when camping in Colorado. So peaceful!
Well Summer Leisure Day, I wish I lived somewhere or could go somewhere I could sit outside and see boats and water. Years ago when my daughter and her husband were in the Navy they were stationed in Georgia. I loved to go visit them (I am in the Texas Panhandle. Landlocked, Arid, no bodies of water around) and we would take grandbabies and picknicks and go to the beach or to Marinia area (Porch Swings Faceing the water) and enjoy the day.
Dino blocks are very fun, you're a talented artist! I'm with you regarding water scenes, I just can't tolerate the gawd awful humidity here in Missouri! Hubs likes Mojitos too, but his cocktail of choice is Jack & coke. We're celebrating 54 yrs this Wed. @ A beautiful Swiss style restaurant. My mom introduced me to Andre's in the 1960's❤. Keep the joy coming to us!
Having coffee outside,or reading a book on my back porch.
I do have to organize my quilt book shelves. They are not easily accessible from where they are. I did organize them in topics, for example,FPP, applique, miniature, and borders, and author. I do have a bookcase with books on handwriting analysis. I don’t know if those are useful anymore since cursive is not taught at school anymore. And of course, my stained glass books which I will never let go. I can’t give up my jewelry wire work. Thank you for the segment because it has inspired me to switch my books out.
I enjoy hearing you thinking through processes. Thank you for filming. The Dino quilt is looking so good. I’m considering doing that in Christmas fabric with embroidered centers. Still in the thinking stage. 😊 Have a great day
that will be so pretty!
I recently organized all my books and put a list on my computer of what I had because I had so many duplicates (bought at estate sales/suctions in bulk, yard sales, etc). Now I have the list with me on my iPhone when I go shopping so I won’t buy duplicates. I shop at thrift stores and yard sales for quilting supplies and often come home and realize I already had a book🙄 Duplicates end up going to other quilters, to our guild yard sales, or back to the thrift stores for someone else to find😂. I will never have time to make all the quilts but I love buying books - have learned so many new techniques and tricks in them! If I buy magazines, I take out the pages I know I want, put the pages in sheet protectors, and file them by category/type of quilt or technique. This way works for me and I actually use what I buy this way! Every time I find a Pat Sloan book, I buy it and do a happy dance. It’s rare - quilters have to die to let go of your books… just saying - they are always filled with so many helpful tips!
Making a list IS a good idea. I forget which ones I have and the ones I wanted. Now that I think about it I should do paper patterns also. Thanks for the reminder.
Excellent idea! I’m working on a list of paper patterns next!
I like working in my yard in the summer.
Oh dear. Now I've bought 2 More of your books! Teach me to Applique and Applique a Garden.
Good morning Pat thanks for sharing 😊
You are so welcome
I love to go walking and hiking here in NH.
I love to go for a ride on my CanAm Spyder on country roads with my husband.
Sitting here laughing because I have at least 75-80% if not more of your books that you are sorting! Can you say I’m a fan and have been awhile? 😂
thank you so much!! I'd thank you with a name but there isn't name for your account
@@PatSloan Sorry. I changed it in settings but it still doesn’t show my name half the time. Gotta love RUclips, lol. My name is Catherine Squyres and I live in Louisiana.
My books are in alphabetical order and I have them listed on my computer. Easy to find a book that way. Have a few of Pat Sloans books too.
that is very tidy of you! Good for you!
I love to go camping every weekend. It is so relaxing. I have coffee in the morning, I read, and of course I do various hand work projects. Every once in a while I am visited by bunnies and deer. Of course, birds abound. Love their tweets and chirps. A turtle laid eggs in our campsite. We have a permanent/seasonal site. Eggs will hatch in August or September. I will be monitoring. 😉❤️
Good morning Pat! Would you please go over what we as consumers can and cannot do with patterns and books we purchase? For example, can we resell them? I want to follow the laws.
hi Sue! It is simple. The book is the same as if you bought car. You can sell the car to someone. But you can't open a manufacturing plant, make a copy of it, then give the cars away. you don't own the rights to making that car. So you can Sell the pattern if you DO NOT keep a copy. And that is it! No copies (except for personal use), no copying the pattern and giving to others. Very simple. Thank you for educating youself and supporting the designers and artists of the world. 😊
@@PatSloan thank you! Comparing it to owning a car makes it simple, as you pointed out. I appreciate you taking the time to reply.
Best to you!
Are you selling any of your books. I would love the tour of Ireland book, i just got back from there. I love that country too. I would love to be able to buy a couple of those duplicates you have. Maybe a raffle for those interested in buying??
No I'm not. You can get all the links i posted under the video, thanks!
How do most people organize their quilt books; by author, themes, seasons, how? I see how you do yours, but what do other people do? I need a variety of ideas.
ask that at my community facebook.com/groups/QuiltWithPatSloan
So maybe you should think about a small “off-site” storage box. Something in a good environment. Putting your archive copy there for safety, along with a backup from your computer(s) that you rotate at least monthly. If there is a fire (heaven forbid) you would have your archival publications still, along with a fairly recent copy of your computer data, and you would be in better shape to “carry on” - perhaps not “stay calm” (I mean, we’re talking a fire, right?) but at least “carry on”.
fishing
I have many of your books but not the Irish one which I would LOVE to have in my library. Is it available anywhere?
thank you! it has been out of print for many many many years. If you are FAST i see a used copy at amzn.to/4cPtgTv
@@PatSloan thanks❣️ I grabbed one & am excited to ‘join’ your quilty tour of Ireland
? Fabric Quality Question for you Pat. I have been given a box of fabric from someone moving to Europe. Many fat quarters are not marked with any fabric name or brand. How can I tell if it is good enough to use in a long lasting quilt project or more suited for a short term project like a drawstring bag? I want to incorporate as much as possible into my color stash. HELP! Thanks for all of your expertise and advice.😊
That is a nice gift! did you ask her where she purchased it? that is the easiest. Otherwise take it to a quilt shop and ask them if they can help you tell the quality. Without touching it i can't really tell anything about it
👍❤️🙂
Are you going to write another book?
I think the sloth is supposed to hang upside down?
I think the one you're talking about-in the top right corner-is the Koala.
How do I mail toPat?
