Kim, your video and still imagery is very compelling, and your super-enthusiastic narration is as well. If the Scottish Tourist Board does not already have you on their payroll, they most definitely need to. In any event, they owe you, BIG TIME!

Great video Kim. I love looking in churches wherever in the world I am. I find some have a deep sense of holy-ness where I feel a strong sense of peace, whilst others don't. Thanks for showing us around.

What a beautiful vlog. You have inspired me to return to Scotland for an extended holiday sometime in the next couple of years. I have done several hiking holidays in your wonderful country and want to return to some favorites (Arisaig and Eigg) and find some new ones. Harris and Lewis are on the list, and especially this lovely church. Thank you for your work - you may be one of the best ambassadors for Scotland travel - they should pay you!

Thank you both for further brightening an already sunny afternoon for me. Thanks for sharing your special place, Kim. A still of the carvings on MacDonald's tomb would be nice. I'll watch again to study them. Hallowed places of Christian worship have their own special atmosphere. People speak of them as "soaked in prayer". A sense of closeness to God and to our forebears is possible in such places, as well as in nature.

Hey there and hello from eastern Canada. Love following your work and travels! My Great-Great-Grand father came from the Isle of Harris in the mid-to-late 1800's. So I really enjoyed this one! Hope to visit there someday. Great stuff kiddo! Be well.

Saw your comment and felt compelled to reply. I’m doing research on the Isle of Harris for an upcoming trip. My husband‘s third great grandfather was from the isle of Harris. He was Roderick Morrison son of Angus. They arrived in Cape Breton in mid 1800s. I was curious if there was a connection.

Marvelous video Kim. I love old architecture and the stone work is magnificent. When you think about all the man hours that
must have gone into that church! Beautiful place. I can see why it is one of your favorites to visit. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Kim. This goes to show how remoteness is a natural selector in weeding out the chaff and dregs of society! If that church was in a less remote area it would have been desecrated, used as a toilet or even a drug den! The undesirables don't tend to put themselves out to travel - they like to stay where there is easy stuff to steal! Just trying to get back into my photography having recently losing my two Cockers just 8 weeks apart . I have been devastated but coming back to my old friends (it seems 😀) has started to rekindle my old interests. Thanks mate!👍😀

What a lovely vlog Kim, well done. Last time I was on Harris I missed out on the church as we were running late for the ferry at Leverburgh. You've really whetted my appetitive and I will definitely have it on my list for next year. Thanks again.

What a fascinating gem of a building. The preservation on the tomb and carvings is wonderful to see (seen so many destroyed in my travels sadly) this is definitely a place I want to see and explore :)

It's interesting to listen to someone describe how St Clement's affects them. I've been there 3 times by myself and always the sensation of opening that side door and stepping in is almost shocking but paradoxically calming; it's in a much earlier place and the glowing quality of the light in the nave and especially near the altar among the ancient dead creates, as you feel, a still moment of time. (You also mention a feeling of Ireland, which escaped me, however it does have connections with Iona and its abbey.)

Great vlog Kim, old churches and graveyards do give you a vision into the past (olden days!).

This is my sort of place to visit Kim I just love old churches and graveyards I find them really historicly interesting along with peaceful and calming. This church looked beatiful I wonder if they allow a wedding ceremony still to take place ? Imaging how perfect that would be for you someday ? especially with that possible distant relative connection ! I loved this vlog thank you for sharing :D Teddy

Thanks for your hard work on this blog. Very interesting and so well executed in its making. Perhaps you could get a genealogist to do some research on your family. Just imagine the thrill it would be if they do connect you to your possible ancestors that have been laid to rest there. Superb video Kim.

500 yr old church and tomb is amazing that it’s been preserved.
An aside...the tomb and carved stone coffin cover looks exactly like the tomb Indiana Jones located on his trail to find the Holy Grail (the rats scene in the catacombs)!

Do you happen to know the contractor who did the stone pathway into the church? Looking to redo our cottage pathway and it's proving tough to find someone. LOL. Also, that was a nice church and video....but I really liked the pathway. Once I know, I'll be able to go back to sleep. It's 5am. Hope to hear soon.

    It's a Templar church
Angus McLeod was initiated into the Great Preceptory of Scotland as was his his counterparts of the McLeods of Lewis
The tomb is Templar and the carvings are a mixture of Templar and Celtic. If you look closely at many of the building blocks you can see what's known as Masons Marks although a lot of stones were changed during renovation
Lovely video though and well presented.
Another much older Templar church can be found on Lewis (Eye or Ui church) about 4 miles east of Stornoway and is well worth a visit

Thank you for your insight on the location. If I'm ever back in Lewis I shall try and make time to visit Ui Church. It sounds very interesting!
