I agree, health is way more than losing weight. It’s not necessary for everyone. Sometimes focusing on eating a balanced diet and working on getting in some cardio and strength training a few times each week.
I've watched Kalel since... forever. Since she was in Japan with Anthony. I've watched her say definitively that a new nutritional plan is 100% correct every three months. PLEASE get your health information from a doctor and don't get your pseudoscience from youtubers... please.

She speaks with authority, and I recall this same thing in the past--the lectures, the "educating" everyone else. She's admitted she's at a weight she doesn't feel good at and that her skin is breaking out badly again. Not gonna take a thing she says as legit, but still a fan and still wish her the best. Just wish she'd quit looking for the next fad, the next silver bullet, and just get it together with the basics. And what happened to the concern for the animals and the earth? All of that disposable stuff. It doesn't make any sense.
Intermittent fasting is known to be effective for digestion and weight loss, you dont need to be a nutritionist to read the scholarly articles written on in. It is not a pseudoscience. She is just giving people tips that work for her.
What are you talking about ? Her meals are healthy and balanced in this video, no processed foods or being very restrictive. She always admitted when she made mistakes with her diet. She is only human, you can’t blame her for trying different diets to get to something that will work for her. Nutrition is very complicated for a reason. She is not promoting anything crazy like other RUclips’s, and this is not health information this is just meal ideas.
I don't get daily harvest. Is that fruit and berries chopped up and packaged? Why can't people just get the exact same fruit at the produce section of their local supermarket?

This this this. I was actually really surprised that she recommended them. Especially showing the plastic seal and showing all of the cups in her freezer. When she showed that, it killed me thinking of all of that waste. No one is perfect but I feel like it's all about trying to take small steps towards getting better. Especially since all it is is a disposable cup with fruit in it that you could buy and prep in a reusable container.
The reason the cycle keeps repeating of bingeing on junk food is actually because fad diets and extreme restriction makes you actually crave all the "bad" stuff. If you have a better relationship with food, you'll have more control over it when you realize that food is just food. I actually really recommend reading the book "The Fuck It Diet" or the "Anti-Diet". It explains this in a lot more detail, sooo many people struggle with bouncing back and forth onto the new diet, the new plan with more rules and more restriction. If you give your body a break, if you allow yourself to eat those foods and stop demonizing them, you won't end up craving them.
Amen!!!! Whenever I restrict, my mind automatically craves it more, lol. I can restrict for like 30 days max, but then I want to binge. OR, I end up just going to a Krispy Kreme drive through while I'm restricting snack foods in my house. While it might not work for everyone, balance is the best option for me. Having a mix of mostly healthy foods but allowing myself to have cookies or sweets if I really want them :)
That is true. But even as a healthy individual in this day and age you can give into cravings and get easily addicted to so called bad foods. We are wired to respond in a positive matter to foods that are available for us now and the food industry is taking advantage of all that. If things were so easy we would all be at a perfect weight and health, but they are difficult, giving yourself more understanding and skip the judgment and resentment for people that struggle with issues would be a better idea.

I taught myself how to do baking with stevia, monkfruit and other sugar replacements....but I will admit, diabetes runs in my family so I had extra motivation and I have HUGE HUGE HUGE sweet tooth! lol During the holidays I cannot, I repeat, I cannot buy even one box of cookies or I'll eat them all and feel horrible. No energy, flu-like symptoms. So I feel you. I can resist buying things I can't resist them if they are already inside my house and I'm like "But I need those gluten free oreos for those brownies that are totally sugar free and high protein for the holidays! My tip might seem counterproductive but it is: don’t overdo it right from the beginning. Slowly morph into a new lifestyle that you plan on maintaining for the REST of your life rather than trying to completely turn into a health and weight loss extremist cause those kind of changes rarely work long term (not aimed at you Kalel, just to anyone out there trying to get fit and healthy)
I’m really not trying to hate but am I the only person who doesn’t get Daily Harvest? How inconvenient is it to just put your own frozen fruit in a blender?
Emily P I love it for many reasons. One, I’m extremely lazy, so having this all portioned out helps guarantee that I will eat a healthy breakfast every morning. No excuses! Two- variety. It’s fun to have different flavors and combinations of smoothies. Many of their smoothies contain ingredients that I wouldn’t personally have purchased, so it’s a nice way to boost variety in my diet.
There are lots of things I think are negatives about it.... but I said HEY SELF, you deserve it. Take control of your health!! Do it!! And then I saw "Boxes starting at $6.99 a cup"..... And I have not stopped laughing since 🤣 yeah, NO

Right? When I did smoothies I’d chop a bunch of fruit and freeze in Tupperware and use it pre chopped and portioned and frozen. No plastic single use waste like those expensive daily harvest crap
FYI eating before bed isn't actually a bad thing. Your body actually needs fuel during the night because sleep is when many of the major repairing processes your body undergoes happens. No hate, do whats right for you! I'm just trying to spread positivity and kill food fear.
Uhh no, eating before bed spikes glucose and that glucose is not needed. Hence, diabetes. Also, eating before you lay down is terrible for your esophagaous and can cause acid reflux/cancer over time. Talk to a nutritionist or a doctor, you aren't very well informed.
No it is actually the exact opposite. If you have food in your stomach at bedtime then you will not get proper rest because your body will be using energy to digest the food. You should cut your eating time 3-4 hours before bedtime. That way your body can use its energy to restore cells. I do agree with Kalel that intermittent fasting is one key component to achieving a healthy weight.
I’m usually an avid watcher and I’m sorry for this comment... that’s disordered eating behaviours. Intermittent fasting have no benefit for weight loss other than potential calorie restrictions. Eating before bed does not make you fat (except if it’s too much energy than what you need), at the worse you’re digestion won’t be the best & you might wake up a bit bloated. Please don’t say things without knowing the science behind human bodies/nutrition (and I’m not talking about freaking bro science non sense)
I've heard the same thing too. Some doctors say to eat a big high protein meal before bed, and they've debunked the whole don't eat before bed argument. Honestly, there's so many health fads out there. Not every fad will work for everyone. Intermittent fasting is the new big thing. :/

I have been a lifelong vegetarian but at 30 I am now developing multiple sclerosis because of the lack of vitamins and nutrients that are only found in meat (synthetic supplements aren't the same). I have now started eating chicken and fish. Humans are meant to eat meat.

The only issue that I have with intermittent fasting is my job requires me to be up at 5am and actively working by 6am. And I need to eat in the morning or I can’t function at my job lol.
You can always just stop eating earlier in the evening so you can wake up and eat at 5am. You can also fast for shorter amounts of time and still see results. Kalel might fast for 16 hrs, but you can always fast for 12 hrs or even less if that works better for you
Same boat as you sis. I eat a big breakfast at 6 and a big lunch at 2-3 and shut it down after that. My BMI says I’m obese tho so that’s why it’s so much fasting.
I find it easier! I do shift work and find that fasting on working days actually keeps me busy so I dont think about food until i get a chance to sit down ahahah you could always do your eating during working hours though and then stop in the evenings
I've been watching kalel for years and I've noticed that she's constantly concerned with her weight, going through depressive episodes where she loses control of her health food craze, and then comes back with a new diet or meal plan. im sorry, but I cant support that anymore. like she's literally endorsed detox teas and now here she is endorsing intermitten fasting. yall, please consult with a dietician before deciding if any of this is for you.

Do you donate all of your unused food? I definitely don’t. Most places will not take perishable foods/opened foods. Which would negate a lot of junk food anyway. Don’t look to the next person to donate, do it yourself?
@@hazelbyte7867 I donate to my local foodbank all the time. There is also an app here in the UK called OLIO where you can offer food to your neighbours if you aren't going to use it. I've used it a few times to donate non-perishables like tea bags and spices that I know I will waste. But you can offer up anything on there; a lot of local cafes offer their unsold cakes and sandwiches for example. No-one sees me donate, since I don't post it on social media. Kalel has a platform that she could be using to prevent food waste rather than make it seem ok to throw away valuable resources. Junk food usually has a very long shelf-life so is fine to donate, it's still a resource. Everyone deserves a treat now and then.

People will find ways to be charitable if they really want to. It is not Kalel’s job to tell people to donate. That should not be expected of her just because she has a following.
But some foods do cause heart disease and atherosclerosis and we always underestimate the huge effect diet has on health. We didn't used to say smoking was altogether bad but now it's widely accepted
I love your comment about genetically modified food! I’m a biotechnology major and it’s really not as bad as people think. Genetic modification can occur by basic breeding but people don’t realize that. Another thing that amuses me is when people preach about eating all organic food but don’t realize that it could also be genetically modified 😂 organic just means that fertilizers and all that Jazz wasn’t used (excluding biofertilizers)
I feel like the only reason that a junk food binge would happen on such a regular basis is because of a diet that is depriving the body or overall not satiating enough.
Throwing away snacks is food waste though:/ could just not buy any more after finishing them, give/send them to people, or even keep them in your car to give to homeless people instead
I don’t think many people understand the weight of having an addiction to binge eating junk food. What I did was symbolic and therapeutic for me. It was like an alcoholic suddenly pouring all their booze down the drain.
i remember when i first started watching kalel when she was w anthony but then i noticed that she always had a “diet mindset “ after... i was one of the “vulnerable/younger” viewers (as i’ve seen in the comments) and i’ve developed an ed. don’t get me wrong! she didn’t cause it but i did watch her i also looked up to her lol (this was like... the beginning of my ed. i used to watch her diet vids). and she kinda played apart in some way anyway i realize now that her relationship with food is not healthy, it wasn’t in the past and still isn’t. i’m saying this in case there are other younger viewers watching her (i stopped watching but i wanted to like, check in bc i forgot abt her)
Awesome tips!! I am 200lbs and do not find this offensive at all. I’ve already lost over 100lbs and it’s by doing EXACTLY what kalel is saying! Cut the junk out, put whole foods in your body! You don’t have to starve. You can be satisfied and still loose weight. It sounds crazy, but you REALLY do eventually crave fruit or vegetables once your past the first hump! and it really does improve mental health! There is no weight loss secret! It really is this simple! Eat right,be active and don’t over eat. That’s it. As Someone who has been on every diet their whole life, I can verify that it’s all BS. The moment I started doing as kalel is, I went from over 300lbs now to 200. Thanks for doing your research Kalel!

I’m happy to see you looking so happy and healthy!! But please consider buying food that has no packaging. Veggies are so easy to wash. That plastic they come in is not recyclable. And daily harvest comes with so much packaging. I know it’s just one more thing to be aware of. But once you start the habit of not buying packaging it gets easier!
Really depends on what it is...if it’s opened in anyway or perishable places won’t take it. Most of anything I’d throw away in my house has been opened or partially munched on.
Sarah recycling is not a waste solution. recycling should be the final option - “reduce, reuse, recycle” in that order. a huge portion of items that go to get recycled just wind up not getting recycled anyway.

me too. i speed EVERYONE up to 2x & hit the 10 second skip button numerous times, especially during the drawn out bullshit intros. kalel is the only one i actually make a nice moment out of. & make sure i won't have any distractions so i can fully enjoy everything she has to say. she could talk about anything & i love every second of it for some reason. no one else has that effect on me.
But foods that have no nutritional value (ex fast food) are not good to have on the regular. Anyone with a basic understanding of nutrition (micro nutrients, importance of fibre and vitamins) knows this
@@MT-zm1yb Fast food does have nutritional value - macronutrients are extremely important, especially carbs, the body’s preferred source of energy. Fast foods on the regular are better than restricting yourself & not eating at all, which is a problem a lot of people suffer from due to the shame that is attached to the concept of good & bad foods.
Kalel, long time supporter here! ❤️ I was wondering, how do you deal with eating animal products again after already making that mental connection? I know one of the major reasons you changed your diet back in the day was because you care about animals. How do you deal with the mental side of it and justify it? Especially as it seems you've decided to go back to eating anything you want rather than just what is necessary for health. I could be wrong about that though so feel free to correct me. I'm fascinated how somebody can make the connection then revert back to cognitive dissonance (at least to a degree), and as I know you're interested in psychology as well I know you'd have some interesting thoughts on it! No judgement obviously, I'm not fully plant-based myself yet so I can't, but I am really curious about it all. x

I didn’t feel healthy and I was having trouble with my gallbladder. I said enough is enough and I cut out all bad stuff and meat and feel so much better. Such a change and lost some weight too. Great video kalel
Nah, more like it was easy for her to hide her negative thoughts and emotions when she was with him because he was apparently a source of good vibes but also because she really believed in herself and her future plans back in those days. She went through some really dark things in her early twenties, so I can't imagine her actually being happy in her old vlogs with Anthony.

Have you heard of EMDR?? It’s a therapy technique (I believe that’s what it’s mainly used for), but essentially it’s about reprocessing information/traumatic events in your brain using eye movements or steps while thinking about those certain events . So interesting how you mentioned you thought walking while reading helped you process it more, it’d be super interesting to see if any research about emdr connects learning new information!

Chloe Press she ate about 1600 calories which is perfectly normal for someone trying to lose weight 🤷🏼♀️ 4000-6000 steps a day isn’t considered “being active” & if she’s not hungry she shouldn’t force more food into herself.
She's already super skinny so I'm confused at why she's dieting to lose pounds. Cleaning up her diet and eating healthier options is great, but I'm a little nervous that she's so thin but wanting to lose weight :(

If you're emotions get so overwhelmed to the point you have to take time and energy to write a rude comment in regards to a person enjoying a particular product ? There might be other issues at bay. If Kalel wanting to further better herself and liking certain foods irritate you to the point of anger. I'm pretty sure there's something else that might be the cause of you being this miserable. I just feel like people are very very very very very critical of her. I've also recently begun my intermittent fasting journey along with controlling my portions and eating healthier so I don't overeat because my metabolism is really shit. So far, I've lost almost 20 pounds and I'm feeling so much better about myself. For me, Im the opposite to you Kalel where I feel most hungry in the morning when I wait until 12pm to eat and then I'm not hungry in the evening. It's probably because I have early morning classes most days but I prefer 12pm-8pm anyways because I get back home late to eat. Sometimes I slip up and eat a little more than I should but I always remind myself that it's okay to have those days as long as I don't let that overeating mentality take over and continue to eat healthy.

This this this. I was actually really surprised that she recommended them. Especially showing the plastic seal and showing all of the cups in her freezer. When she showed that, it killed me thinking of all of that waste. No one is perfect but I feel like it's all about trying to take small steps towards getting better. Especially since all it is is a disposable cup with fruit in it that you could buy and prep in a reusable container.

The reason the cycle keeps repeating of bingeing on junk food is actually because fad diets and extreme restriction makes you actually crave all the "bad" stuff. If you have a better relationship with food, you'll have more control over it when you realize that food is just food. I actually really recommend reading the book "The Fuck It Diet" or the "Anti-Diet". It explains this in a lot more detail, sooo many people struggle with bouncing back and forth onto the new diet, the new plan with more rules and more restriction. If you give your body a break, if you allow yourself to eat those foods and stop demonizing them, you won't end up craving them.

Amen!!!! Whenever I restrict, my mind automatically craves it more, lol. I can restrict for like 30 days max, but then I want to binge. OR, I end up just going to a Krispy Kreme drive through while I'm restricting snack foods in my house. While it might not work for everyone, balance is the best option for me. Having a mix of mostly healthy foods but allowing myself to have cookies or sweets if I really want them :)
That is true. But even as a healthy individual in this day and age you can give into cravings and get easily addicted to so called bad foods. We are wired to respond in a positive matter to foods that are available for us now and the food industry is taking advantage of all that. If things were so easy we would all be at a perfect weight and health, but they are difficult, giving yourself more understanding and skip the judgment and resentment for people that struggle with issues would be a better idea.

My tip might seem counterproductive but it is: don’t overdo it right from the beginning. Slowly morph into a new lifestyle that you plan on maintaining for the REST of your life rather than trying to completely turn into a health and weight loss extremist cause those kind of changes rarely work long term (not aimed at you Kalel, just to anyone out there trying to get fit and healthy)

Emily P I love it for many reasons. One, I’m extremely lazy, so having this all portioned out helps guarantee that I will eat a healthy breakfast every morning. No excuses! Two- variety. It’s fun to have different flavors and combinations of smoothies. Many of their smoothies contain ingredients that I wouldn’t personally have purchased, so it’s a nice way to boost variety in my diet.
There are lots of things I think are negatives about it.... but I said HEY SELF, you deserve it. Take control of your health!! Do it!!

No it is actually the exact opposite. If you have food in your stomach at bedtime then you will not get proper rest because your body will be using energy to digest the food. You should cut your eating time 3-4 hours before bedtime. That way your body can use its energy to restore cells. I do agree with Kalel that intermittent fasting is one key component to achieving a healthy weight.

I’m usually an avid watcher and I’m sorry for this comment... that’s disordered eating behaviours. Intermittent fasting have no benefit for weight loss other than potential calorie restrictions. Eating before bed does not make you fat (except if it’s too much energy than what you need), at the worse you’re digestion won’t be the best & you might wake up a bit bloated. Please don’t say things without knowing the science behind human bodies/nutrition (and I’m not talking about freaking bro science non sense)
I've heard the same thing too. Some doctors say to eat a big high protein meal before bed, and they've debunked the whole don't eat before bed argument. Honestly, there's so many health fads out there. Not every fad will work for everyone. Intermittent fasting is the new big thing. :/

I have been a lifelong vegetarian but at 30 I am now developing multiple sclerosis because of the lack of vitamins and nutrients that are only found in meat (synthetic supplements aren't the same). I have now started eating chicken and fish. Humans are meant to eat meat.

The only issue that I have with intermittent fasting is my job requires me to be up at 5am and actively working by 6am. And I need to eat in the morning or I can’t function at my job lol.
You don't have to skip breakfast, stop eating earlier in the evenings
You can always just stop eating earlier in the evening so you can wake up and eat at 5am. You can also fast for shorter amounts of time and still see results. Kalel might fast for 16 hrs, but you can always fast for 12 hrs or even less if that works better for you
I have to eat frequently otherwise it triggers migraines. Not every diet or health fad is for everyone.
Same boat as you sis. I eat a big breakfast at 6 and a big lunch at 2-3 and shut it down after that. My BMI says I’m obese tho so that’s why it’s so much fasting.
I find it easier! I do shift work and find that fasting on working days actually keeps me busy so I dont think about food until i get a chance to sit down ahahah you could always do your eating during working hours though and then stop in the evenings

I've used it a few times to donate non-perishables like tea bags and spices that I know I will waste. But you can offer up anything on there; a lot of local cafes offer their unsold cakes and sandwiches for example. No-one sees me donate, since I don't post it on social media. Kalel has a platform that she could be using to prevent food waste rather than make it seem ok to throw away valuable resources. Junk food usually has a very long shelf-life so is fine to donate, it's still a resource. Everyone deserves a treat now and then.

I love your comment about genetically modified food! I’m a biotechnology major and it’s really not as bad as people think. Genetic modification can occur by basic breeding but people don’t realize that. Another thing that amuses me is when people preach about eating all organic food but don’t realize that it could also be genetically modified 😂 organic just means that fertilizers and all that Jazz wasn’t used (excluding biofertilizers)

I don’t think many people understand the weight of having an addiction to binge eating junk food. What I did was symbolic and therapeutic for me. It was like an alcoholic suddenly pouring all their booze down the drain.

Awesome tips!! I am 200lbs and do not find this offensive at all. I’ve already lost over 100lbs and it’s by doing EXACTLY what kalel is saying! Cut the junk out, put whole foods in your body! You don’t have to starve. You can be satisfied and still loose weight. It sounds crazy, but you REALLY do eventually crave fruit or vegetables once your past the first hump! and it really does improve mental health! There is no weight loss secret! It really is this simple! Eat right,be active and don’t over eat. That’s it. As Someone who has been on every diet their whole life, I can verify that it’s all BS. The moment I started doing as kalel is, I went from over 300lbs now to 200. Thanks for doing your research Kalel!

I know one of the major reasons you changed your diet back in the day was because you care about animals. How do you deal with the mental side of it and justify it? Especially as it seems you've decided to go back to eating anything you want rather than just what is necessary for health. I could be wrong about that though so feel free to correct me. I'm fascinated how somebody can make the connection then revert back to cognitive dissonance (at least to a degree), and as I know you're interested in psychology as well I know you'd have some interesting thoughts on it! No judgement obviously, I'm not fully plant-based myself yet so I can't, but I am really curious about it all. x

Definitely going to try these tips. You’re such an inspiration Kalel and thanks for talking about weight loss struggles. No matter what your body shape is, everyone struggles with weight. Just because someone looks “healthy” and “skinny” doesn’t mean they are.
Look, it's really sad that there are an overwhelming amount of comments telling Kalel and her viewers what to do or what not to do. I get that most commenters have good intentions but I'm sure we ALL KNOW to SOME DEGREE that you should be doing what works for you, and Kalel has been saying that and she's just trying to show us what she's found to be working for *herself*. If it's not working at the end of the day, because MANY PEOPLE fall off their routine when their emotions run high, then she'll find something else that does. So will you if you relate to her. Kalel is not any sort of licensed nutritionist, but I myself DO have a certification in health coaching and I really just come here to watch Kalel's videos. That's all the entertainment side of RUclips should be... even if a video is educational you should always do your own research and fact check anyway. We're here to watch a video, not put anyone on a pedestal, and we are certainly not here to tear her down when she's made such an effort to become more conscious of both how she addresses and affects her audience... One of the top comments is completely right though: There is more to life than losing weight. Make love and acceptance normal, guys, come on.
I didn’t feel healthy and I was having trouble with my gallbladder. I said enough is enough and I cut out all bad stuff and meat and feel so much better. Such a change and lost some weight too. Great video kalel

Nah, more like it was easy for her to hide her negative thoughts and emotions when she was with him because he was apparently a source of good vibes but also because she really believed in herself and her future plans back in those days. She went through some really dark things in her early twenties, so I can't imagine her actually being happy in her old vlogs with Anthony.

Have you heard of EMDR?? It’s a therapy technique (I believe that’s what it’s mainly used for), but essentially it’s about reprocessing information/traumatic events in your brain using eye movements or steps while thinking about those certain events . So interesting how you mentioned you thought walking while reading helped you process it more, it’d be super interesting to see if any research about emdr connects learning new information!

Needed this video, due to stress I gained a lot of weight and have been struggling with health but I LOVE how veggie rich your Fay is and how lax but still disciplined your manner is - seems like a very healthy and happy place to be at. And YOUR HAIR IS LOOKING SO LONG AND STRONG AND GOOD
I know you’re not calories counting and all of that and I don’t know if you added all the food you at for the day in here but you’re at a serious calorie deficit for the day especially if you’re being active...
Chloe Press she ate about 1600 calories which is perfectly normal for someone trying to lose weight 🤷🏼♀️ 4000-6000 steps a day isn’t considered “being active” & if she’s not hungry she shouldn’t force more food into herself.
She's already super skinny so I'm confused at why she's dieting to lose pounds. Cleaning up her diet and eating healthier options is great, but I'm a little nervous that she's so thin but wanting to lose weight :(

Negative comments usually reflect the person on a subconscious level. If you're emotions get so overwhelmed to the point you have to take time and energy to write a rude comment in regards to a person enjoying a particular product ? There might be other issues at bay. If Kalel wanting to further better herself and liking certain foods irritate you to the point of anger. I'm pretty sure there's something else that might be the cause of you being this miserable. I just feel like people are very very very very very critical of her. You certainly don’t have to agree with everything someone does - But you also don’t have to go out of your way to leave mean comments just because you disagree. It’s 2020, y’all know this. People commenting and saying that they noticed that she is struggling mentally and then in the next sentence saying that she and her life are “sad” - what’s sad is being unkind to people on the internet for no reason. If you wonder why a person is struggling, then please recognize that comments like yours are part of the problem. I think it’s very brave of her to put her life and her business out there for everyone to judge and I applaud her for being vocal about her struggles and transparent about her changes of direction. Hannahcdutton i do this! I have all the ingredients you would put in a smoothie, but chopped up in a bowl and I mix a little yogurt in it! Amazing!
I've also recently begun my intermittent fasting journey along with controlling my portions and eating healthier so I don't overeat because my metabolism is really shit. So far, I've lost almost 20 pounds and I'm feeling so much better about myself. For me, Im the opposite to you Kalel where I feel most hungry in the morning when I wait until 12pm to eat and then I'm not hungry in the evening. It's probably because I have early morning classes most days but I prefer 12pm-8pm anyways because I get back home late to eat. Sometimes I slip up and eat a little more than I should but I always remind myself that it's okay to have those days as long as I don't let that overeating mentality take over and continue to eat healthy.
