hey man! i know i already commented on this video but i just wanted to let you know ill be praying for you with your daughter. seems like you got a lot on your plate rn so just know i at least am praying for you. Bless you Brother!
These videos have been revolutionary for me as a young budding producer. One of the biggest things is seeing how much time you put into planning and executing what steps you're wanting to accomplish. This series has taught me to give myself a little grace and let myself be in the experience. Thank you! I am looking forward to seeing how this idea of filming your process grows throughout the year.
You and Saylor sounded great together. Praying for Ruby. I have a little boy named Rudy and justbfelt your pain both in needing the surgery and having the process delayed and prolonged. ❤
Dang Nathan, I was just as excited as you were as you were showing the new song idea! I kept wanting to encourage you, as if in the same room :) But my heart went to you and your family about the cancelled surgery.
At around 6 minutes, I really enjoyed the arpeggio on the piano. I can see that you're powering through the feeling of being overwhelmed. Glad to see you power through.
I'm impressed by how efficiently you work. Not everyone manages to start making music at 5:30 am! It was entertaining to see how you were annoyed about 20 minutes of IT problems as a "loss of life time". These things happen to all of us! Your focused way of working is fascinating; musicians are usually rather chaotic. Is your studio so well soundproofed or do you just never let the noise of the kids next door disturb you?
1:14 went so fast, glad your doing this style of videos. I noticed you’re using Berlin brass, strings you used, were they also Berlin? Fantastic track buddy, stay blessed and have a positive week. Steve
I don't like Berlin brass as much actually - I think the native instruments symphony brass is wayyy better for French horn and trombone especially. I did use Berlin brass for trumpet though. I like their legato sound for trumpet. I just don't like the tone of their French horns and trombones. The difference to me is actually pretty staggering
I want to start off saying that I'm really digging this, thank you for sharing your experiences. This shows how real life experiences interacts with creativity and how one can monuvior through, I really appreciate this, even my wife is watching it with me. I also have two boys that are 13 & 15. This helps me organize when you actually can see how you cope, it gives me perspective, instead of me feeling like I'm the only one going crazy with my thing. let's keep rocking it brother!
Just found your channel Nathan, and that cinematic orchestra track sounded like Hanz Zimmer! I couldn't agree more about developing a solid foundation in music theory! Improvisation is such a satisfying and freeing feeling, especially when you improvise a masterpiece or gold. I went to music school for a classical music performance degree, and burnt out of the orchestra lifestyle a few years after I graduated, and 7 years later in 2023 I bought myself a midi keyboard, audio interface, Ableton live, and I started experimenting and exploring with music production. Discovered that its the most passionate I've ever been about anything, even more than the 15 years I spent in classical music. I regret not discovering and getting into music production immediately as soon as I decided to leave the classical music life behind in 2016, but better now than never. Are you a pianist or did you go to school for audio engineering, or are you self taught? You mentioned doing this over 20 years...
You are a huge inspiration to me and my career and one of the main reasons I want to learn piano fully and I hope one day I can work with you or just learn from you. The minute you spoke about your daughter in this video I immediately started praying for healing. Keep your head up and God will always make a way
I’m enjoying these series so so much! I’m working on my own record at the moment too. Your vlogs have helped me stay motivated and productive. I wish you success and hope you’ll continue doing well. Thank you for this amazing content!
Another fantastic video. I’m so excited to hear Legends are not made in its entirety. I love your style of music and have only listened to your music since you started this series. Keep up good work.
Hard to know what to comment when there’s so much juicy goodness in here! First off, will continue to pray for your daughter. Feel you man; that stuff can be stressful. Secondly, and probably the reason I’m watching this whole thing today, is because I love seeing your process. I’m working on some music personally, and figuring out my methods, so it’s immensely helpful watching you work and explain your hows and whys. Finally, when you plug in the Moog, it makes my 70s prog rock/fusion loving heart sing, and I think “yes, that is an excellent choice!” You have immaculate taste 😉 PS- gonna start calling you Mr. Ostinato. 😅 PPS- That work monologue at the end is super inspiring, and gives some permission to shift the mindset that you’ve gotta do music all day every day.
I'm praying for Ruby's quick recovery. It's nice to see you achieve your dreams. I pray for your strength to reach your New Year resolution and I know God is guiding you.😊
Nathan! Watching these weekly videos is such a blast! Love your musical approach. Having the musical tools at hand means grabbing what you need while the iron is hot. BTW - Legends - man, how epic would this be to a soundtrack for the series, "The Chosen" (perhaps resurrection scene). You should talk to those guys....just saying...prayers for your daughter next week!
Honestly, I've never had more fun spending a huge amount of time watching this. Hope one day you can break this down to specific instruments. BTW what was the BRAAM?
Love this man. Great to see your workflow and how talented you are. This might be quite basic but I'm definitely going to borrow your idea of writing the chords in as markers in Logic. Nice one 🙏🏾
WARNING: Your enthusiasm is contagious! Thanks for sharing more of your creative process. Are we also going to see the actual, initial songwriting from the start in future video's? I hope so!
So hyped! 2024 will be awesome 🎉 Edit: I loved the way you described the song “legends are not made” it just really seems like you’re describing an interest to a friend
You borrowed from the parallel major for that B chord. I like when you stray from the diatonic - doesn't happen enough in pop, IMO. Appreciate your process. Wishing you the best.
Love hearing your process!👏👏👏 Each time I hear that pattern, I keep waiting for Jesse Eisenberg to say "the closer you look, the less you see" lol. I kinda want to see Now You See Me now 😂😂
@@NathanJamesLarsen dude… you are the man. This series has given me immense respect for you. Don’t know how you do it all and maintain the balance at home.
Nathan have you ever listened to Starset? Or do you know the producer Rob Graves? This hugely cinematic music you're making reminds me of the type of stuff he does. Also, I am finishing up a 5 minute song of my own recently and I love the feeling of digging down and producing a longer song that really stretches you to your limits, so I relate to you getting psyched about your 6 minute song.
Yeah we've talked actually. A good buddy of mine Alex Nicefero worked on those records too. I'm a big fan of RED. Definitely can say that Rob has inspired me for well over 15 years
Thanks for sharing your process, very inspiring to see how these songs come together. Love the idea of a hymns album so looking forward to hearing the final thing. BTW - what desk do you have? - I'm looking into getting a desk with a drawer for an 88 key keyboard
This is somewhat random, but have you ever gone over how to make a gospel choir sound? I love that in almost every song I hear it in, but I have no idea how to create it.
Thanks for the music idea using b major on b min.... 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Tanx a lot❤ even my favourite composers anirudh ravichandar has used this trick in *bloody sweet* song but the major comes first do check out the song and lemme know how his composing style is ? That genre is also the same as urs but he composed that song for Leo movie I hope u'll also learn something new from that song cause I've been learning more from him love from India
Really enjoying this. I know you’ve uploaded to distrokid would it be cool to react to the 2 songs on a live stream? Would it cause issues with copyright?
Incredible video if this would be 3 h long i would watch it! just wondering... do you plan what instruments to use before you start the producing session and you limit yourself to only use what you planned?
it may sound clishe but i appreciate that you actually have good musical talent instead of just drawing out MIDI for everything. dont get me wrong drawing MIDI isnt "unmusical" but i appreciate seeing you on physical instruments
Yeah, I feel you on that... it's funny cause I've watched some other producer content and thought "am I the only one who actually started out as a true 'musician'?"
It's kinda funny - cause ya'll see the edit which makes it kind of feel like "Wow Tuesday was a wreck" and then Wednesday is like "I'm FINE NOW!" lol... but in reality- ya'll dont see the entire day I spent with my family and the time in between those shots where the processing is happening. But I DEF felt like when I was editing the video "wow that was a wide range of emotion is a very short amount of time" I PROMISE IM NOT BIPOLAR LOL

Praying for your daughter ✝️ .. the work you do is an act of worship itself .. inspiring and powerful and I can’t thank you enough for these videos.

Yep mode mixture is just borrowing (temporarily) from whatever the opposite mode (major/minor) is! So yeah love that stuff! Sounds dope.
Can’t wait to dive in!

I love this it’s giving Disney sound track
This is sick, we need more such videos, like daily...
