This is a serious question but do they speak or know English in Wallis et Futuna? Or just Uvean and French? My cousins from there came here to the states and my parents couldn’t seem to communicate with them it seemed? They speak tongan now but at the time I had to use google translate to French to talk to them haha
Actually, we do learn some English "basics" at school. But, you know, it's not very necessary to know that language, given that almost everything in Uvea (official documents, programs on tv, ...) is in French and it's already a lot 😂Also, French people have this reputation of not wanting to make any effort with foreign languages. So, I guess most people in Uvea just choose not to speak or at least not to improve in speaking English ...
