      Just played my first gig on lead electric guitar with a friend who wrote all the songs and a guest said we reminded them of Ralph McTell...so here I am discovering some lovely "new" music. I'll take the compliment!

    Have been an admirer of this marvellous musician ever since I heard Streets of London way back in 1970. He just gets better and better.

      Same experience here. There was a British themed pub near me & Streets of London was in their jukebox. I would bring loads of quarters to put inn thee jukebox coin slot to listen to Streets of London as often as I could get away with it ❤🤍💙🇬🇧

    I live in Melbourne and have seen Ralph in concert on his numerous tours. That lovely warm personality, the superbly rich melodic voice, to say nothing of his legendary guitar playing. As with most of his fans, there is no doubt that his music is best enjoyed live....the immediacy and crowd support do not make it to the recordings...he is an underated genius and I cannot wait to see him in concert again in March 2019.

    First heard Ralph sing this song and Streets of London 2 days ago here on You Tube. Have probably listened to them at least at 25 times since then. Cant get them out of mind. The lyrics, the voice, -the whole persona- just beautiful. It’s nice at 71 to discover a new musical genius.

    I always thought he was a one hit wonder with “ the streets of London” how wrong have I been and years later have only just discovered what a wonderful talent and performer he is .I just hope I live long enough to see him in concert somewhere near me Scotland!

    I have seen him live many times. The first time about 1970 at the Lewisham Concert Hall, not many people there; he said: "If you are lonely huddle up at the front." last time was at the South Bank, packed out, Ralph as amazing as ever. As he sang you could hear a pin drop and as everyone joined in the chorus of Streets of London it was like being in heaven. I have replaced most of my vinyl LPs with compact disks but as someone below says - the best way to enjoy Ralph is live. I can't believe he is now about 74; I pray he continues much much longer. Any young people interested in music should have a look at his work. Because of him I had to have a guitar when I was about 14 and playing it has made my life so much better - many thanks Ralph.

    A great song by one of my favorites. This song captures it all, doesn't it? Every once in a while you hear a song that gets right into your soul. Such is Somewhere Down the Road. I love this live version tremendously. Its essence percolates through that soul of mine. Thank you, Ralph!

    Just saw Ralph for the 6th and I imagine the last time live in Melbourne. He was superb. Appreciate he can't sing all the favourites, but would have loved to hear this live. Concert was on March 1 and temperature was 100F, which he said made it necessary to retune the Gibson a couple of times.

    Bloody brilliant! I am going to have this played when it is my time to go! However, the really, really annoying woman on the violin thinks it is her stage, not Ralph's. Replace her perhaps with someone that doesn't do Megahan Markel impressions? No offence in these days of course.

  • @robertcudlipp3832
    @robertcudlipp3832 5 лет назад +4

    Think the Producer concentrated too much direct main camera on Jane ...sure she played beautifully, but the ace on mandolin was all but ignored and there could also have been more focus on the man of the night.
