A lot of people take drugs to numb away pain and fear and heartbreak and anger. Feeling nothing is preferable to unpleasant feelings.
Of course, that doesn't solve the problem but delays dealing with the problem. Short, temporary delays is one thing, like anesthesia, but that's not a long term solution for a broken arm, you still have to set it and let it heal even though that will take a while and have some discomfort. Same goes with emotional pain. Short term solutions are not long term fixes.
I'm enjoying how much the show decided to fuck with the audience. There are changes from the comics, but there were in season 1 too, and THOSE mislead me into believing Angstron Levy wouldn't be in the show, so clearly they're being sneaky enough that fans of the comic can't predict everything that's going on. I like that.
Also - Debbie deserves better. From everyone.

Amber didn't really change, she was always kind and caring, it was the cornerstone of her character. Her attitude toward Mark only changed when she realized she was constantly being lied to. Was she out of line with her initial reaction when Mark finally came forward to her, yeah 100%, but she realized she was being selfish and now that Mark isn't lying to her anymore she's cool with the caveats in their relationship. She just wanted honesty from Mark.
The Amber hate is irrational to say the least. The fan base hates her more than Rex, more than Eves dad. She may have reacted badly but goddamn she’s just teenager. Let her make mistakes! 😤

I'm not gonna act like she didn't have shitty moments in season 1 but they weren't painting her to be a saint either. The writers knew her shitty moments were shitty moments, no one sat there and wrote the scene where she steals Rick's room in episode 6 thinking "yeah, she's right for doing this." but to act like her character is completely changed or that this wasn't the planned arc for her the entire time is just nonsense.
Only weak little men love to hate on her. It's ridiculous and is absolutely a projection of an inherent misogyny.
You guys aren't ready for what is coming in episode 4. It's gonna blow everyone over.

Ugh, i don't know how half the Internet got Amber. Amber NEVER had a problem with Mark being a superhero or him not always spending time with her. Amber was furious with Mark LYING to her repeatedly. She literally said as much and people ignored it.
Yes, OTHER superhero comics, tv shows and films, the love interest often is upset that someone is a superhero, os in danger, os spending tome elsewhere instead of their family.
Amber was never like that. She hated the lying. She had told Mark as much when he was two hours late for a dinner with her family--and Mark kept on lying, and he was OBVIOUSLY lying, like Amber was stupid as well as gullible.
The only reason she reconciled with him was because she discovered his dad, Omni-Man, had lied to Mark longer and more egregiously. (And also Mark got beat up near to death.) That explanation was glossed over when she kissed him after he got home from the hospital.
I think that at least for those that genuinely just disliked her, and weren't just hating for no reason, the issue was more so that she remained mad about the lying even after she found out he was a super hero.
I mean she has every right to be upset, but it's the extent to which I found off-putting as well. This is a society where super heroes are common as hell. The concept of a secret identity should be well-known, so it's not like she thought he was the only one being secretive, it's a common practice for heroes.
I could also see it as an issue that isn't necessarily either of their faults. She might have seen their relationship as farther along than what Mark thought. It isn't totally clear to the average viewer how much time is passing, not to mention how much time they're actually spending together. That leads to another common point that many people made that the relationship still felt relatively new. Mark might simply have not thought that they were close enough for that information to be shared, while perhaps she did.
I do agree that the drama was annoying, but that's because the internet exists. If real fans of the show were the only ones discussing it, I'm sure that there would be relatively calm and interesting conversations and debates over her character, rather than the shitstorm that was social media during that time.
@@fireheart8878Amber never cared about Mark being a superhero. That was never an issue for her. It was his lying to her, repeatedly, even after he lied months earlier when he missed the dinner wwith her family. He SAID he would do better--and ketp on lying to her.
Also, being secretive and dishonest are not the same. Mark could've easily STOPPED promising to show up for events or at least warn he might miss them or at least call when an emergency came up. ANY of those would be better than him repeatedly missing dates and lying about it.
So how long would it be okay for Mark to keep lying to Amber? A week? a month? a year? How long? How long after Amber explicitly told Mark she hated him lying to her would it be okay for him to keep lying? She got fed up with his lies and left. She told him. She warned him--and he kept on lying. That's not Amber's fault. That's Mark's.

Everyone knows why Amber was mad. That's why people hate her. This relationship was a short highschool relationship. She has no right being mad about him keeping his superhero identity a secret from a FUCKING HIGHSCHOOL relationship. She was being an absolute bitch about it. She can obviously be a little mad, but the level of anger, manipulation, and gaslighting she performed is what made people hate her. What she did made her absolutely crazy. If she didn't like it, she should have just broke up. Mark should have also not been in a relationship with her, but the reason people aren't as mad at him is because the story shows he was at fault for that. Both Mark and Amber were at fault, but the show only blamed Mark. Literally nothing in the show blamed Amber and that's where most of the anger comes from.

Guys, the hate for Amber from you is too much. She never changed. She was always like that: she hates lies and he spent his time lying to her. She is the healthiest person of all. You really need to understand that. She has the most mature attitude of all, for a teenager.
@samsun9779 he technically did abandon her though. She knew he was a superhero not necessarirly whuch one. And at the moment in the university she was looking for his help and DISAPPEARED without saying anything. He could have at least lied PRIOR and saying was gonna "get help"

@samsun9779 yet William want smart enough to figure out Eve when her face isn't covered like Mark's. And William has slipped up revealing Mark's identity twice because he didn't know Even and Amber knows so it counts.
So yes there was inconsistent witers in certain characters.

The writers for season 2 obviously felt the backlash and mellowed her out for this new season but she is already strongly hated by the community so the damage is already done.
