I thought I would be seeing an over-the-shoulder bag until I saw the pieces you had cut out in preparation. I really liked the fabric you used and seeing my machine being used so I enjoyed the video. Thanks for the laugh about the deodorant. I can totally relate to finding all the stink of people very annoying. You will need to make a separate bag or pouch for your phone with a bag that isn't fully lined. Even serged edges can scratch the front glass, camera lenses, and loosen front screen protector. You can sew a loop into the seams when you sew your gussets to clip another pouch inside. Or sew over the already sewn seam on a belt loop to attach an inside loop. Also keeps the pickpockets from snatching your phone or other valuables. I've learned to include a loop or two in every bag I make. Just food for thought. I know you were keeping it simple, following an existing pattern, but some minor modifications aren't difficult to add for a beginner.
Well I obviously couldn't have even made this video without your belt... so pretty much all credit goes to you my friend! Hope you doing fantastic buddy, big love
The deodorant comment made me think this would be a great washbag for trips, lined with vinyl inside as well. One big strap on the back instead of the belt loops. Thanks Tock!
I'd certainly do that as well, just trying to keep this video as simple as possible :) In fact, now that you mention it... I'll put some on there right now!
You’ve opened my eyes to the glorious wonder that is fray check, now I need to get me some basting spray p.s. I enjoyed that you showed your mistake of accidentally not cutting a piece of the pattern long enough, it’s a good reminder that even experienced sewers can make mistakes and that us newbies shouldn’t stress too much about ours
That's super nice of you to say! People have recently started telling me that, which is funny. For now I'll just save my voice for doing tutorial videos :) Hope you're doing terrific!
That remark about deodorant at the end made me laugh so hard. Anyone who's ever been to a convention relates xD Lovely tutorial, thanks for posting. A silly question: did you use denim needle for the vinyl? BTW love the rainbow overlocker stitch, such a fun detail
lol, some people stink at cons! There's always room for some good advice there :) I did use denim needles on this project, but I could have used something lighter if I wanted. This vinyl was super thing, so anything would have been fine :) Thanks for watching!
Great project! I would love to make one of these out of real leather, but vinyl or canvas seems like a good place to start. 🤔 *notices fancy new embroidery machine*
This is very nice 👌 it would make a very nice toiletry bag with a few alterations main alteration being the zipper being across the top possibly a double zipper with a pull strap to open or close.Would be an interesting project for a toiletry bag for us guys for vacations
Yep! I've done other videos talking about different stitch types, so I assume my audience is aware. Maybe I should mention it each time in case some folks are new. Thanks for helping people out :)
This might not be the place for it but I have a suggestion for a tutorial video... Show the various stitches and seams you can make with a serger machine. 4 thread overlock 3 thread overlock 3 thread super stretch overlock narrow rolled hem wide rolled hem and all the others I can't thin of at the moment also I am interested in the cover stitch /serger machine particularly whether two machines would be better then a combination machine. cheers
I just bought a combination machine which I love (Pfaff Coverlock). I plan things out so I don’t have to switch back and forth between functions in the middle of a project, which takes a few minutes each time. I highly recommend trying one out in person so you can see how difficult it is to rethread.
That's a great idea - I'd love to showcase more techniques with overlock machines. I'll have to take a look at my list and see where I can fit it in :)
I had to pause the video at 12:27 (while you were about half through clipping the side gusset to the back panel) to attend to a visitor at the door. When I came back to restart the video something about the still image bothered me. It took a few minutes to realize the mistake you were making, I assume you will correct the mistake once the video starts again or you will not be able to turn your bag right-side out when you finish sewing the back panel. EDIT - I was right right you fixed it..... lol
That’s nice I’m getting into sewing but just thought about how I don’t know what fabrics to buy .. I went to start with making a Japanese futon mattress so I thought u should watch some tutorials first
He, who is the Stitch and the Hem, gather into his seams. Children. Sewing Jesus brings us yet once more into the folds of his great works. His words will ease your burdens and uplift your crafts. Blessed be your needles crafted in homage to his tutelage and design.
I am willing to bet you machine is sticky now if there is any uncovered fabric with spay on it, the spay sticks to everything it takes a long time to dry... good technique
It's basically the same thing :) It's typical for costumers and cosplayers to go to conventions a lot, and extra storage space is always needed! Thanks for watching, hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

Free form design. Love it.
Exactly! Thanks for watching, this was super fun and pretty easy even for beginners :D
This turned out great!! Thank you again for doing this. Woohoo!
This was a great little project! Thanks for including me on your Book Release Tour!
This is so useful!!! Definitely a must have for every cosplayer and handler
Omg these would make amazing handler bags!! Cosplay Repair Kit!
I always love your sewing videos! This looks like so much fun to make. Thanks for another great tutorial. Also, nice belt 😉
Well I obviously couldn't have even made this video without your belt... so pretty much all credit goes to you my friend! Hope you doing fantastic buddy, big love
@@TockCustom Doing the best we can. We should chat soon. Big love back my friend.

Good call.... actually.... I want to make my own travel hygiene bag now!
I would put fray check over where you trimmed the serge corners just to ensure that the don't eventually start coming out after repeated use.
I know I'm hard on my bags at conventions.
I'd certainly do that as well, just trying to keep this video as simple as possible :) In fact, now that you mention it... I'll put some on there right now!
That you means you know how to party ;)

Basting spray is fantastic! Especially for embroidery :D
Great to hear from you!! It's been a while
Great video again! Anyone ever tell you you should do voice work? You have a great voice 👍
That's super nice of you to say! People have recently started telling me that, which is funny. For now I'll just save my voice for doing tutorial videos :)

Hahahaha! I snuck it in the side! I'll have some exciting new stuff to share once I get caught up on editing 😂

Note: basting stitch is long, usually the longest stitch on your machine.
Yep! I've done other videos talking about different stitch types, so I assume my audience is aware. Maybe I should mention it each time in case some folks are new. Thanks for helping people out :)
I looove all your videos ! Keep them coming (maybe a bigger bag to put dogs 🐕)
I could do a small duffel bag video at some point :)
Lovely 😊
Thank you! 😊 This was a fun one!
I love it.
This might not be the place for it but I have a suggestion for a tutorial video...
Show the various stitches and seams you can make with a serger machine.
4 thread overlock
3 thread overlock
3 thread super stretch overlock
narrow rolled hem
wide rolled hem

Good suggestion - trying machines out at local shops with guidance is crazy helpful :)

Yep, thankfully I caught it in time lol - good eye!
Thank you❤
Do you have one on how to make a makeup pencil pouch where the zipper is at the top, not the center.
What size needle are you using for this material?
I just used a denim needle, and my heavy duty Brother ST150HDH. You don't need a heavy duty machine for vinyl... but it makes it smooth as glass!
You might find basting tape easier to use and less messy than the spray.... also you can sew through it without gumming up your needle..😁
Yeah I honestly couldn't find my wonder-tape lol, so this was a quick fix :)
Thanks for watching!
I noticed you cut through the serger stitch - I do not own a serger, so I would be zig zagging, does cutting through it not make it undo?
Loved this! Also LMFAO yes please wear something 😂 it gets a little funky inside cons sometimes 😬
lol right? Thanks for watching!! Hope you're having a great weekend :)
@@TockCustom thank you 😊😊 you too!

*I'm just sitting here quietly giggling to myself* - This comment belongs at the TOP!
This comment is making me happy😆😆🥳🥳
I am willing to bet you machine is sticky now if there is any uncovered fabric with spay on it, the spay sticks to everything it takes a long time to dry... good technique
Actually, basting spray doesn't gum up my needle at all. Sticky-back Velcro is the WORST though... I learned that a long time ago lol
Glued to the screen, but I have no clue what a "convention bag" is ❤ .... I think you just made a hip version of a fanny pack though 😂
