Well done for making it all the way to Copenhagen! It's such a wonderful city with a really relaxed vibe, isn't it? I have to admit, I put off watching this episode as I've loved following your journey so much, I didn't want it to end! It's amazing just how much better things are for cyclists in mainland Europe than in the UK where I'm from. Sadly, a lot of people here are put off cycling because it means they'd have to contend with lots of car traffic. I live on the South coast of England, close to one of the ferry routes to France, so feel really encouraged to do more cycling there and maybe into Germany (plus, of course, Belgium and The Netherlands 😊) and even try out a bit of 'proper' bikepacking. Thanks for sharing your inspiring adventures with us, Elizabeth!
Thank you so much!! And yes I totally agree I loved it! 😊Oh noo that's nice to hear though that you enjoyed it so much! I'm sorry to hear that and I have heard that before indeed from people living in the UK... It's really sad that these circumstances keeps people (like you) from enjoying a bicycle ride. But indeed in your case The Netherlands and so on isn't too far away! So I would really encourage you to take your cycle on some adventures here! Thanks for following my journey! 😄
@@ElizabethHoefkens It is getting better for cyclists over here, with more dedicated lanes and routes appearing, but we're definitely playing catch-up. I've been cycling for about three years now and getting comfortable cycling with cars on fast roads is a necessity if you want to go far! That said, I'm planning to cycle solo from Dieppe to Lille at the end of September - my first real experience of 'continental' cycling! I've definitely picked up some useful tips and inspiration from your videos, too - I can't wait!
@@bbloye Ah that's nice! I guess I will wait then a little bit longer before going there 😅 Yes I think you will get used to it but relaxed is different... That sounds really good!! Have fun on your trip! And I would like to know how your trip was 😊
Watched this yesterday so am rude leaving it a day to comment but thank you for another great video. I am lookingforward to the last one on Copenhagen and am interested to find out where you are going next. i think you should consider doing a trip to the Norfolk Coastline which is fairly cycle friendly but it's up to you. Greetings from eastern England.
Hahah thanks for your comment anyway! 😅 Thank you! I’m now a week away with my cousin so the next video is a bit delayed but it will appear online when it’s finished 😊 Thanks for the tip! For now I’m mostly looking for a cycle trip in a place where the weather is somehow stable good. As I don’t want too much rain 😅
Looks like you had a variation of the frikadelle sandwich. (Minced veal and pork (usually 50/50), chopped onions; eggs; milk, bread crumbs, salt and pepper and then fried in a pan with butter.) A bun with mayonnaise sliced frikadelle with picked cucumber (syltede agurk) and pickled red cabbage (rødkål).
@@ElizabethHoefkens your videos are great motivation for us as we are going to Denmark from Australia next year and cycling to Scotland via Germany and Netherlands . Can I please have the name of the Copenhagen hostel that you stayed at?
@@timdalton3989 That's is really nice to hear! Your trip sounds amazing! For how long will you go and do you already know when? As the weather in Scotland can be pretty tricky (read: rainy 😅) You will definitely have a wonderful trip though! The hostel is called "Steel House Copenhagen" but on hostelworld.com I saw there are a lot of good options! Have fun with the preparations! 😊
@@ElizabethHoefkens Thankyou for your reply and name of hostel. We are planning two to three months arriving in April to Denmark. My partner comes from Scotland so I have many warm clothes and wet weather gear to cycle in 😊.
The kite area is close to my home in Taastrup and my wife and I often go to there, as now a little elderly people. They have a former Fort protecting Copenhagen during WW1, now a Museum. The Sandwitch seems to be red cabbage and ham? The beach is to a large part artificial and pumped up sand, for public entrance to the beach in front of the old houses and the harbours. Mostly a new Park along the beach. The white Trangle is an Art Museum: "Arken", for Modern Art. They have a Mounted Statue outside: A man on a Childrens Playhorse. IKEA was made by a Swede: Ingvar Kamprad (I.K.), but also with several large shops around Copenhagen, and one near us in Taastrup!! Finn. Denmark
Ahh so I biked in for you very familiar area! Nice! Yes it was indeed red cabbage with something meaty but I’m not sure what is was. Oh I didn’t know it was artificial but it looked really nice! Thank you for the information! Love the facts about IKEA 😊
Lekker solo in mijn eigen tempo. Me time.
8:10 It looks like a flæskestegssandwich, pork roast sandwich. If it is a slice of pork roast that is hiding beneath those condiments. Or perhaps a frikadellesandwich, if it is a frikadelle, a pan fried meat ball.
