Almost every one of the effects JM has released through E recently have had a full, unedited trailer showing the effect in its entirety without any cuts. You have no idea how refreshing that is as a consumer and fellow magician. Definitely makes me more eager to buy because A) I'm shown exactly what it is I'm buying before I buy, B) I don't feel like you guys are trying to trick me into buying something, only to find I was misinformed by a dishonest trailer. Keep this trend up please.
I just recently bought The Wrong Path, and it is now my go-to effect along with all of these.Justin's work is fantastic!I've gotten extremely powerful responses from Divorce and Delta.Keep up the work JM!
Anthony, this appears to be independently created. JM has his CAAN created around 2006 for another company that didn't use it, and published independently in 2008. While I don't know about creation dates on Garcia's end, Miller's documentation is clear. If the need for further resolution arises, we'll address it then. Thanks for the heads up! :) ~joe
I've scrubbed a lot of comments in this thread. While there is an interesting discussion about how to publish magic tricks, we're not going to tolerate ad hominem attacks or comments that judge the value of a trick by whether someone thinks they know how a trick is done. Everyone "knows" how tricks are done, whether they actually know or not. ~joe
Justin, you are like my favorite magician at the moment. I buy all of your effects :D I just love them!! You create such beautiful and visual effects, that are reputation making! Also I love your style, the way you preform and teach, mad respect for you!
Yeah, those posts stink, and I scrub as many as I can. But I don't think those posters are the downfall of magic. In my view, the magicians who speculate about how a trick is done are no different than spectators who, because they know of the existence of palming, think that everything is palming. They don't take anything away from my magic, my performances or my gigs. In a way, those speculators give me a humongous edge. :) ~joe
I love JM I really do. He's inspirational. However his misdirection in this effect is completely unjustified and random. He says the spectator will do it them self.......they don't. He asks where the deck is.......never brings the deck back. Very poorly done but a great trick. Just poor patter.
As for that interesting discussion: Erdnase got mentioned about the value of publishing tricks in print and making history, as opposed to making a video of a trick just to make money. Thinking about that makes me giggle when I read the last line of the preface in Erdnase's "Expert at the Card Table." ~joe
This is brilliant really man you did it so clean but as an excuse to put your hand in your pocket I usually reach in to take out a pin or any thing to use as a magic stock or whatever but nice man really impressive
And do you pay shipping cost? Or paper? It's not only money it's about reach to more people whole world with internet. You can't do this with book today.
Earlier i said i'm almost positive this is a DG trick. I commented on the wrong video, i was talking about the CAAN that was also released by JM on the same day. It looks great, but DG has a caan that is exactly the same. I'm not saying you stole it but i just wanted you to know.
So I created/Discovered mine around the exact same time DG came up/discovered his. We had a convo and we both agreed to take it off of E and allow each other to perform it at lectures and conventions while giving credit to the other. I hope that solves your confusion.
pretty amateurish if you ask me you can clearly see the switch at 1:14 - 1:16, he places the card that the guy gave him on top of the deck on his left hand and then hides the deck along with the card at about 1:17, 1:18 in his left hand pocket, the switch is completed at about 1:19, 1:20, when he says, "let me see that"
valdezmj10 im just gonna take a wild guess that you are not a 100% laymen. If you are familiar with general sleight of hand with a deck of cards then it will be obvious when you see the sleight being done..no shit
I agree with erdnase18. You know art will lose its original value when you start selling it. This is what happen to comercial photographers. Their photo loses their valau of artistic. Long time ago magician like houdini, slydini, and others got rich by performing magic. Not selling the magic trick
Damnit man i remember watching stuff like this and used to be amazed now that Im not a lay person i can debunk magic tricks so easily. I know exactly how he did it. and while i appreciate the sleight of hand and misdirection it just doesnt feel magical anymore ;-;
I'm Sorry but this is the first Justin Miller trick I see no point in...I mean it doesn't seem to flow very well and the same restoration style looks better by Mr. Vogt and many others
So mine came out before ANY Of the others you mentioned. The download is really focused on the switch which is original and the restoration which is also original. It is unfortunate it was a 4 and they decided to use that footage. It does not come CLOSE to the strength this effect shows in the real world and for that I truly apologize.

Sam Hughes i agree.the patter could have been better.otherwise awesome effect.
The trick is still incredible. Don't mention the deck or do the move and the just grab the deck out.
This trick is really impressive, I gotta say dude it was really smooth

I liked it, simple in terms of method, but effective.

lets see you trying to perfect this.
yeh and when he gets rid of the other corner, he has to wipe his moustache where his mouth is. Great but simple misdirection.
he's a wizard, there's no other explanation :P

If you already have Aftershock by Justin Miller, there is no need to buy this, it's so much weaker, and easy to figure out, even for laymen.
