2023 Porsche 911 Carrera T - Driving the Cheapest Manual 992

- I realized after filming this that the Carrera T is the cheapest manual 992 in the current 911 lineup. This makes it "make sense" a little more, but like, c'mon Porsche, give us the stick back in the base!!

Every car enthusiasts deserve to drive a Porsche at some point in their life. I was sold on the brand after owning a 987
I think it definitely worth it if you have the money. I've always considered the carrera 4 gts from this generation to be the perfect compromise 911 but after this came out I'm convinced this is more worthy of that.
I don’t know if I can trust a dude who says a Corolla is more fun on these roads than a 911….gotta push this car harder! Kidding. Nice review. I have a 992T inbound so I’m watching every T video I can find. Thanks for taking the time shoot and publish this.
What a fantastic road!!
Plenty power for a spirited drive and probably the pick of the range if you want a road car that's fun and interesting.
Agreed. It drives me crazy when people chase horsepower over all else. 350-400 hp is totally sufficient for 99% of situations.
Great car man😯
I see you drive 911 in winding road magazine before this👍
$128,000 for the "stripper" 911! A few years ago there was some sentiment that the Cayman variants were so good that the 911 was not necessarily a step up. Whether you believe that or not, consider that you could have, for example, a Cayman S, manual, with 350 HP, for half the price of this "T". [I had one]. This is just opportunistic pricing by Porsche, aimed at the very rich. Do I blame them? No, but I wouldn't buy one no matter how much money I had. It's mad overpriced.
As someone with a 992T being built on Friday, I think I'd rather see the Porsche Fanboy footage lol... Did this car have Rear Axle Steer? Did the gear ratio feel better than previous 7-speed manual generations?
Best 911 in the Carrera lineup! Congrats 🎉
I have 991.2 T, what color are you going with?
@@joeracer302 I got one locking up soon in Shark Blue.
Congrats on the 992T! This car didn't have the rear axle steer, but still felt great without it. Also, I can't speak to the previous gen 7MT having not driven it. This gearbox felt good. Long gears like any porsche, but still great fun.

Seeet spot for most of the streets as a daily car in the 911 line up only wished they got some unique body kits for the T
Too bad they aren't offering the bucket seats despite what was on the launch cars
No, no bucket seats. It's the thing that threw me off.
Apparently will be available later this year. I went with the 4-ways as they are 35 pounds lighter that the 18-ways
Stop calling it the "stripper model"... 7 minutes in and you haven't cited one thing that is actually unique to the Carrera T. It would have been great for you to do your homework prior to Porsche lending you a demo.
No back up camera?
why are you holding the steering wheel like that.
992T vs 718 GTS ? Where would you spend your money?
If it's the GTS 4.0, I'm choosing that. All the way.
If you’ve got the money for a 911.. you’ll more than likely choose a 911 over any Boxster/Cayman variant except for the GT4. / spyder. I owned a 718 spyder, but it always felt inferior to a 911 from an image pov. Plus the Cayman / Boxster are so dated inside and out. All personal of course, go with what you want.
I had the Porsche Driving Experience in Los Angeles two weeks ago. Being that I'm a designer by trade, the aesthetics of the 911 are just damn sexy, period... but guess what, I tracked the Cayman GTS vs a Carrera S and the Cayman took a shit on the 911. Snappier, way more engaging/responsive and revving TO GO FAST. The Carrera felt like a numb boat. Weird analogy but the best way I could describe it. It was fast but felt BORING... too comfortable and soft... and when it came to handling, it instilled zero confidence on my cornering. I felt the rear trying to pull me away into a wall when trying to keep up with my instructor. You're suppose to keep a 3 car distance between yourself and the instructor, he would leave me at 4 to 5 spaces in his Carrera 4s.... meanwhile in the Cayman I just head to lean in and could've sniffed his ass. Point being, if you're some status whore, go get your expensive 911 that you'll drive from your office to home... if you want a driving enthusiast car, get the Cayman. I genuinely would've order mine THAT DAY and would've gladly eaten Cup O Noodles for 5 years if not for their unethical price gauging. The economy is in a bad place, and when it drops and they can no longer "Mark UP" their cars over MSRP then I'll get one... but not till then. Hope that helped.
I've driven both (owned a 991.2 T and have a 992 T on order). For me 911 all the way. The Cayman/Boxster is a good car but it's not a 911. The 4.0L engine is more fun, but not without it's issues (some reliability, some gearing related) - the 3.0L feels naturally aspirated (just doesn't sound as good) and is rock solid reliable and tunable. The 718 feels older and the 911 is the icon, it will always be in-demand amongst enthusiasts. And for me, I need back seat usability vs. 2 trunks. You can't go wrong but the 911 is a far more usable car daily. The 911 is the more mature car, 718 more the hooligan. No wrong answer honestly. For 100k+ for either, it's a no brainer for me - 911.
@@MrSchn3ll Tomato tomato... 718 is a more sport driving enthusiast car, 911 is a more boring C-level executive vehicle who's driver has 20+ golf handicap.
Always thought the US had a speed limit … 🤔
If you can keep it under 130k, it's the way to go
Not sure why reviewers have to refer to the C2…..or T’s……as “The Cheapest……”
Don’t get it.
There is nothing “cheap” about them……and they’re more expensive than 90% of every other vehicle out there……and WORTH IT ! ?
I love the T but stop comparing it to a GT3. It’s a different car for different purposes. It’s mainly a base 911 with few marketing gimmicks.
Amen
Valid. The only real similarity is the "driver focused" appeal of both models. I suppose that could be said about any 911 though. At the end of the day they're both 911s, and 991.1 GT3s are hovering around the same price, so it's worth a thought.
It’s a GTS with a base engine. The T’s aren’t ‘marketing gimmicks’. They are the base engines with all the dynamic goodies and the option of a manual box. They are for enthusiasts for sure.
Why wouldn't you compare it? It's the budget GT3. Although it's nowhere near the same level it's an alternative at a different price point
@@mg-by7uu Because it’s not a budget GT3. It’s more accurately compared to a GTS. Because it’s the same as a GTS, but with the base engine, essentially.
At 379 hp, if this also came with a naturally aspirated engine, optioned with bucket seats, 6- speed manual gear box and pccb's and no bigger than a 997...I would sell everything to get one. For the driving purist, this dream car would be the most sought after sports car on the planet.
Why a car with 379hp and at this weight would need PCCBs is absurd
@@nicholashansen1477 ....absurd if you are broke.. otherwise, no dust, which is important to me and longer life span, especially if going to the track. You don't sound like you are familiar with PCCB's.
basically a cayman gt4?
If you drive it hard enough and long enough at a track day weekend, you’d likely be persuaded on the PCCBs!
@@nicholashansen1477 once you own a car with ceramic brakes you don't want to go back to cleaning all that nasty brake dust. They do squeak a lot though
Still not the best car for this road, a lower BHP, smaller sports car would be a better fit. Key is smaller.
what do you mean stripper enthusiast spec???
Could almost buy 2 C8's for what this cost. Sheeeze...
But then you'd have two Chevys. . .
