E46 M3 - USB Charger Retrofit (Mod you need but havent done yet)

My issue with this is that I use the cigarette lighter for my tyre pump.
Unless you have a USB pump, you can end up in a situation where you get a flat and can't help yourself.

If you have to worry about your tires going flat all the time then I would worry more about that then not having a cigarette lighter plug… plus theirs a ton of battery powered tire inflators like Milwaukee

What did you do to the wiring to connect it to the car connector? You just shoved it in to the white plastic connector?

Yeah, it's not too hard to swap out. I managed to use some curved rasps to remove the excess plastic on my 330ci. My usb was a bit smaller, with an red/yellow/green led ring to give a quick voltage read, in addition to the numbers. Even has a power button for the meter. Unfortunately, not the same color as the stock leds though.

Thanks! Actually no. It only draws 0.03-5 amps this is about the same as a traditional USB charger for the cigarette lighter with an LED light on it to indicate that it's working. Thanks for watching!

What's the draw on the battery seeing that those wires are always hot...it has to drain on your battery

Draw is VERY low. I've left my car parked off a tender for over 4 weekends with out a tender.

Have a question I installed one similar without the voltage meter but just a simple LED indicator. Since its 12v constant will the LED drain my battery?

Doesn't that Eonon head unit have usb ports in it? I bought some ebay unit which works fine and does what I need it to do so I don't really need any extra usb ports as there are three in the unit. Thanks for the videos! Oh and check out the videos online that show you how to have your battery voltage displayed in your drivers screen. Nice work!
