  • Remember, you don't NEED an RP British accent to speak English well... There are loads of accents out there! I'm just here to help people who have a love for modern versions of RP.
    Pronunciation course: www.etjenglish...
British English pronunciation lesson all about these two similar sounds! /i/ and /i:/ - one is a short vowel, and the other is a long vowel. I am an English language coach and Elliot does great work. If you follow his advice on pronounciation, your listening skills will get much better too. Great work Elliot! You guys are changing the face of L2 teaching and kids in schools in Italy and Spain, where the teaching is generally weak, would do better using your videos than doing boring homework.

You're so good! One of the best english teachers youtubers!! I'm so glad I've found you. I hope I could have your accent one day but it's nearly impossible if I don't live in England. I was wondering from what part of England you are . I just know you're from the south and you remind me to those english listenings my teachers keep putting on the listening test! haha.

Hello Elliott! Thank you very much for your lessons. Your accent and pronunciation are so clear, I understand your speech and it makes me more confident, because that means I am on a right way in learning English and you are on a right way in teacihg it! It would be great if you made more lessons about pronunciation of different sounds, specificity of British accent, intonation into sentense/question and so on. Anyway, it is just a wish and your videos are still very useful and imoirtant for those who are learning English. Спасибо!

Hi Elliot! Thank you so much for this video. I think the most difficult thing is to use those words properly in a sentence, because you speak faster and it's difficult to say them in the appropiate way. However, I definitely agree with you, we need to practise as much as possible.
I'm looking forward to watching your next video😊

We have a lot of disadvantages as Czech speakers, but the fact that we have long vowels is a massive advantage, I can totaly imagine how annoying it has to be for English speakers when someone pronounces words like ship and sheep the same because foreigners do the same when trying to speak Czech and yes, it can turn word into totaly different word. 😀 Especially other slavic speakers like Russians or Poles do that, they don't understand concept of long vowel at all, they think it's some accent or something, but it's not, it's just a long vowel. I know in English, it's not exactly like our long vowels, but we can at least hear the difference thank our long vowels.
It's even more important in Czech wher you can have several long and short vowels in one word and when you confuse it, you can turn it to like 5 different words just by mixing up long/short vowels, so when a Russian is trying to speak Czech, we always pretend that we didn't understand correctly to show him that he said totaly different word, but sometimes it really can be confusing. 😀
