Hello Elliot, I’m french and I learnt English at school. But I’m 75 years old and never spoke English. I speak and understand German not so bad, but now I try to better understanding English.
I like your videos and learn a lot new words with the very best prononciation.
Thank you so much for helping.
One thousand excuses for all my mistakes in English.
    Have a nice evening.

    R- 1:20
    Diphthong (as in “hear”)- 1:56
When to pronounce the “r” (when there is a vowel after the r)- 2:11
    Linking R- 3:11
    Dropping “T”s (sometimes)- 3:44
The two important sounds to learn:
    #1 “o” 5:47
#2 “uh” instead of “ur” 6:41

I was born and raised in Freetown, Sierra Leone in West Africa.
In my primary and high school years, I was taught to read, write, and speak British standard English. I have that language embedded in me, though am not a native speaker.
When I was in high school, I would listen to the BBC World News to enjoy the flavour and emission of the sounds of the broadcaster.
My best newsreader was Derrick Baker. admired him so much when he carefully and emphatically laid stress on the words that captured my mind.
British pronunciations are the first place in my mind.

    • @abdulaidumbuya1793
      @abdulaidumbuya1793 2 года назад

British pronunciations are satisfying and enriching in speech delivery.
I can truly and aptly say that I had fallen in love with a British accent since all my primary and secondary school years in Sierra Leone
The BBC News was my favourite and I would always listen to the news especially when Derrick Baker was on. He was my favourite.
We all know what's good for us and take it into good part.

Hi there!. Thanks for your video!. I just wanted to say that thanks to a friend of mine, I have found your channel and due to this I always try to watch each of the videos you post regularly. I really like these kind of videos, as they're actually really helpful when it comes to learn the English grammar deeper and therefore how to sound like a native speaker. To be fair, I have been learning English for almost 27 years now, but I couldn't get that British accent yet.
I'm planning to make a journey to the UK one day, so I can become fluent at it, especially when talking about my conversational skills. I definitely have to work out mainly in all my weak points. However, I hope all your videos will be pretty useful for me to improve my level. Keep up the good work!.
    Kind Regards!.

Hi there Elliot! I just discovered your channel thanks to a teacher I have. I'm currently attending a Teachers Training Course in Argentina and I found your lessons particularly helpful. I've heard many different accents and intonation patterns among people living in England, specially on the C.A.E. listening tests we do every week (not to mention the Scottish, Welsh and slang accents, which I find particularly difficult to understand) and I was wondering where does yours come from. It's completely delightful to listen to. Thank you for reading and greetings from Argentina.

Dear Elliot and For Your English,
Thanks a lot for what you do.
I am a singer and choir conductor, and I love phonetics (and learning about it). My job demands that I both express myself clearly (as most jobs!) and that I always guide my singers as accurately as possible in regards to phonetics; oftentimes vocal music demands phonetics choices in accordance to the composition's origin, date, genre, style, etc...
I'm Venezuelan, and my accent is mostly US American influenced. But of course, still very Venezuelan (or, said more simplistically, Hispanic South American). Since I've been living in Belgium for a couple of years, my accent is now infused with Flemish accent as well.
US American and British are the accent influences that interest me the most, but I don't want to choose one over the other. What if I can become good at both?
Let's say I'll embrace the challenge of mastering both accents as a hobby.
Now, what do you guys recommend me to keep them both fresh and efficiently reachable/interchangeable? Please.
Is it realistic to think that I can learn them well enough to a point where I can deliberately switch from one to the other?
To what extend would it be needed that I program my brain to view the two accents as if they were two different languages?
Thanks for reading this long comment. I hope my questions aren't too nonsensical. Hehe.
      Best,
      P

I always said, all you have do to sound "Brrrriiitttish" is 'Just wear a "Suit" & a "neck tie" and speak "English" there "viola" you now speak "Brrrriiiitttish" English. Ha! Ha!😂🤣🤐😴😴😒☹
Just for your curiosity I am Indian and I am a Bengali, I wear a "Dhoti" and speak English and then I sound "Benglish".😄😅🙄
Love you Brother!!! Keep speaking English any which 'way' you can.👌👌👍👍👏👏
