You are thanking Morrissey Himsself for His voice, because because Morrissey IS God, Our Heavenly Father. Who did you expect to be God? Oh God, George Burns? That may have been, but NOW it is King SteVen Patrick Morrissey...
He seems to be making an analogy with modern day political situation through this song - particularly in the U K and Europe, the words do seem quite relevant. As ever, well said, Moz.
We can ALL learn from these lyrics "You can do what's right or you can do what you are told." Don't be a pawn. Do your due diligence of research. Keep an open mind. America!
Never heard the original before this or even of Phil Ochs but it's a great song. The cover isn't that different musically, but Morrissey's vocals elevate the song to a greater level.
The song was originally written by Phil Ochs in support of the civil rights movement in the USA in the early 60s. Phil Ochs has supported his whole life left causes. You're free to interpret into this song whatever you want, tho I think Phil's just rolling in his grave.
I adore Morrissey to death. These are indeed days of decision. The only thing I strongly disagree with Morrissey about is voting. He claims voting is part of the process of holding the people down but voting is one of the few things that can make change happen. I know it is easy to claim that all politicians are bad but really? Sorry I am not trying to interject politics into the nice comments I've seen but to say Morrissey is non-political is a tricky thing to say.
This is a lovely cover and powerful song but Phil Ochs would be scathing about Morrissey's support of the far-right For Britain party and would be writing songs against the nativists and Brexiteers if he were still with us. Enjoy his original of this song: ruclips.net/video/qVs5LnWfc1c/видео.html
Crikey, the racists have crawled from underneath their rocks while the far right struts it's stuff for a few years. When decent people realise where that crap leads to you're all gonna crawl back under; denying any knowledge of of your previous keyboard warrior-like statements. Your general position indicates how successful you are in life...work in warehouses or supermarkets? Life with your mum?😁
@@chopschat8415 I'm none of that, and I support everything For Britain is against, I just think it's funny. Assumptions based on faulty reasoning and misunderstanding like that cause a lot of pointless friction.
@@nelg70 It's just a knee-jerk reaction to austerity and you're a blip in history on the way to globalisation. Ever studied history? See the comparisons with the 1930's? Bless your misguided heart. I know you feel important now but it really is just a illusion. Now back to your decimated market town!
An album of covers shouldn't be this moving. I already know I'll be playing this all summer.
My fav in California Son! ❤️
Thank you God for Morrissey and his voice.

How can you not like this.
A wonderful tribute to Phil Ochs, the 60's folk singer who wrote the song.
Kind of surprised not to see due credit given in the description or in the video itself.
This is greatness.

He seems to be making an analogy with modern day political situation through this song - particularly in the U K and Europe, the words do seem quite relevant. As ever, well said, Moz.
It was written by Phil Ochs in 1963 after the Cuban missile crisis and after the Klan's murder of three civil rights workers in Mississippi.
Great song, great album!
This is superb!
Beautiful!
Bellissima canzone e interpretazione caro Morrisey ★ Grazie e Complimenti!! ♪#♪

Phil Ochs was my guru of angst.
México ❤
Wish Moz would cover Nights in white satin.
1st. 💘 Morrissey!!!!
David Win wow great job!
I thought that I'd hate it as Phil Ochs (the author) nailed it in the 1960s. However he does a respectable modern version.
Dime Cuando...Cuando...
Will enjoy listening to this whilst eating a raw lamb shank lol. Just kidding. Will be buying this album!
So I heard this cover of Moz’s, thinking it originally Bob Dylan’s...it’s Phil Ochs, another folk/“socially aware” performer from the ‘60s(1965)
RIP Phil Ochs
nice sawng!
anyone else getting the "Times they are a-chaning" vibe?
Both songs came came out at the same time and place, so yeah
@@Justin_Kipper what do you mean
I was referring to the songs themselves. Both Dylan and Ochs played "topical folk songs" in NYC at the same time, they influenced each other.
@@Justin_Kipper oh alright, I didn't know that, thanks!
Dylan don't amount to a pimple on Phil's ass
Primeiro comentário! Brasil aqui
Aguante Brazil Pedrinio jaja
Cade os br que ama musica boa igual essa??

Who's still around in 2025?!?
Israel 🇮🇱 loves ❤️ Morrissey
Good cover. I live Phil Ochs version better.
This is just grandiloquent.
Wondering where is the song credit to this PHIL OCHS song?

these sound like protest songs...
who could be offended by a picture of morrissey?
You really used to be someone, Moz. Bye bye.
