  • #TheOne campaign is all about sharing those moments we all go through when it comes to intimacy, dating and relationships with type 1 diabetes.
    Those awkward moments when it feels like type 1 just keeps getting in the way. Hypos in the heat of the moment. Insulin pump tangles. Plans screwed up to rush home to get insulin.
    And those moments that come with meeting someone who is there for you through all the ups and downs.

    I recently met a man we had a date and it is a match. But he told me he has diabetes type 1. I never knew someone with diabetes. So now i am doing research about it. When we were intimate he told me he cant have a hard one. And somehow it dont bother me. I excepted it. This is so new to me i am still figuring out why it dont bother me. He really make sure that i am ok. Also he is affraid that i will leave him for another.

      @@diabetesuk Thank you. My friend is quite remarkable in that he’s remained a competitive swimmer and exercises/lifts weights regularly despite being legally blind from a stroke (unrelated blood disorder). He teaches in a high school in a challenging but rewarding job. He eats a diet of whole, unprocessed foods. He has a supportive and loving family. He’s seen mental health professionals and tried several antidepressants and hormone replacement therapy (some have helped), but the depression still comes in overwhelming waves which at times are quite severe.

    Im a type 1. Diagnosed wgen i was 2. Im 24 and lately I've been having alot of issues with what i think is E.D. i always go limp in the middle of sex and its definitely embarrassing but I've learned to be comfortable and accepting of my health condition and its worth noting that my a1C is 6.2. That is lower than its EVER been and i am more healthy than i have ever been but despite that im starting to have all these diabetic side effects. I already have full on nurapathy and have a nerve stimulator in my back and now this is happening like wtf lmao

    what does managing it look like? Like how often does the average healthy type 1 diabetic go low a day? My boyfriend has type 1 and he goes low over half of the times we hang out (we usually hang out before dinner) I’m not sure if that’s him taking care of himself and that is just his daily rhythm before he eats his biggest meal or if he’s not managing it well.

    • @x_x714
      @x_x714 Год назад +1

      Hi Brianna, the answer to your question depends on what sort of medical devices he has. I use a insulin pump and CGM so I haven't gone low in months (pretty much since I got it). If your bf is using MDI or doesnt have a CGM its totally possible to go low more often. That said, if someone has extreme self discipline, they can totally avoid ever going low by reducing the number of carbs they eat significantly.

    Can I marry a girl who is Type 1 Diabetic? What compliments it could bring to married life? And can type 1 diabetic women become pregnant and give birth to healthy kids?

    • @leah_w-
      @leah_w- 2 года назад +7

      1. You can marry someone who is type 1 diabetic they are the same as everyone else but just with a condition. 2. The same as any other marriage the diabetes is just a small part of the diabetics life and they are still capable of doing what any one else can do. 3. And yes diabetics can get pregnant and give birth to a healthy baby. There is more of a chance the baby might develop type 1 diabetes but that is the case with anyone on this earth. :)

    Let’s be honest here guys I have experience and thos have this disease aren’t livening like thos how doesn’t have, idk why some ppl ask and they answer ( no no there is no difference) I’m not saying who have it doesn’t have a life no. What I’m trying to say is before u go to a relationship with them u have to know, u have to take care of them be understand in hard situations cuz there is a chance ur kid will have it , they will be more likely get lazy, tired, sleepy so if u “going out type” just know it ,and some of them get angry when less suger is in there blood (forget to eat thire medicine) , and it will be ur dictation to make if u want ur kids to suffer for ur love life.

      @@briannaclark5479 it means check your bloodsugar as often as possible. I have a sensor, so I hold my phone in front of it and it shows me if my bloodsugar is going up or down or just stable. It means take care of your health. Know how many carbs the food have that you eat. I am married but I do not expect my husband to do everything. I take care of myself and when I go low when I am out, I make sure I have for example dextro energy tablets with me. This helps to rise the bloodsugar. In the end its all about knowing your body and taking care of it.
