    I just ordered a pair. The thing we have to remember specifically with barefoot/wide toe box shoes is most companies making these shoes aren’t huge and are fairly young. If Nike wanted to make barefoot wide toe box shoes I’m sure they could come up something for $90, but at the moment I like to think of this as voting with my dollars.

      I’m with you there. It’s similar to RAD and STR/KE and how their trainers are a bit more pricey!
      I also like that Feelgrounds is using more recycled materials than most of these big brands - always an added bonus!

    Thank you very much! I need a high top, workout shoe with a minimal sole, that didn't look super weird. If the sole breaks down, I'll probably go to a cobler.
    And maybe get a better sole installed.

    Thank for the review.:) I'm going to get the Original Knit(low top) then. It's easier to slide in and out and I can also wear them in early fall and late spring.I'm not a fan of the mesh and the faux leather.
    For high top/ Booties , I'll look for more durable soles with better grip.

    I'm just now starting to get into barefoot shoes, and I want to keep my normal snraker look. I've never worn any before, but I typically wear shoes with less cushion and I like being barefoot whenever I can. I'm typically on my feet anywhere between about 3-6 hours a day, usually in indoor environments, and I wouldn't use these to work out in. With all that being said, would these be worth getting as an everyday shoe? If not, are there any similar brands that keep a sneaker style but are a bit sturdier that I can go with?

      A bit heavier! The knit breathes well for knit, but it's definitely not as light in nature as the canvas in Chucks!

    I live in Canada. Did you have to pay extra delivery fees like duties?
    I mostly just want a very wide toe box to wear my toe spacers in it. I don’t care about the zero drop so much. Is there a better shoe for me?

    • @thatfitfriend

      I don't believe so, but I'm US based so I can't speak to that fully. I feel like you'd be able to easily check that via the final checkout review page.
      These or the Splay FREESTYLE could be great options to explore!

    I have the xero prio (thanks to you, lol) and I love them! I'm looking at getting these as a 2nd pair for when I need to dress up a little more (I'm noticing regular shoes hurt my feet more now). I really like how these look, I'm just a bit worried about their longevity because I'm hoping to replace my other shoes with these. Should I go with something else since they would be worn fairly often?

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  2 года назад +1

      You’re on the money with longevity being a long-term concern with these.
      Check out Suav shoes as well! I have a pair coming soon and can also let you know how they are but they have a cleaner look to them like these!

    Do you feel any different around a year after this review?

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  2 года назад +3

      Hey! I haven't had this pair of shoes for a year just yet, however, I have been wearing barefoot shoes (other models) for a couple of years now as I rotate them in often with the other shoes I train in and review.
      IMO, the barefoot shoe benefits are often over-exaggerated, especially when asking someone with a large emotional bias towards that type of footwear.
      That being said, with barefoot shoe use regularly - I have noticed some benefits with improving foot strength and making the surrounding tissues of the foot more resilient, but it's nothing life-changing - it's just tissues adapting to gradual exposure to stress/new environments. Even if you didn't want to go full-on barefoot shoes and instead use them here and there or sprinkle in some barefoot training/direct footwork, then I think you would see some passive benefits with foot strength which could carryover to other aspects of your life depending on the context!

    • @Lifeneverlost
      @Lifeneverlost 2 года назад +1

      @@thatfitfriend I really appreciate that balanced view. A lot of RUclips videos make it seem life changing, so it makes me wonder if I should give up all my normal shoes. I am going to try your suggestion of just putting in the rotation! You have the best review I have seen on these. Thank you!

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  2 года назад +1

      @@Lifeneverlost you’re welcome!
      Yeah, I’m not always the biggest fan of verbiage used in re: barefoot shoes by folks who don’t recognize or acknowledge their own bias with them. They’re great tools, but at the same time, there are a lot of layers that can influence if they benefit or detract from your interpretations with them.
      In re: rotating, sounds great! Think of them like getting into running/working out - ease in slow and build up tolerance accordingly at your own speed!
      Shout if you ever have future questions 💪

    Why were you squatting on the balls of your feet around 4:49? I am by no means an expert, but the bro science I’ve heard is that its bad for your knees

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  2 года назад +4

      And that is why it’s “bro science” 😂 the industry is shifting away from the “no knees over toes” notion, but it’s still present in some pockets.
      The idea that the knees coming over the toe is “bad” is often misapplied and misinterpreted. There is nothing inherently dangerous with the knees tracking over the toes especially when we account for the fact that we NEED knee flexion for squat mechanics + quad usage. I could go deeper here if you’re interested!
      In re: video: That’s a variation called sissy squats, I use them for quad hypertrophy and knee/ankle tendon health. I’ll either use them as a means to warm-up or as finishers with a Bodyweight hypertrophy stimulus!

    • @erictrivelli9357
