A Serving Tray for Mother's Day

- A little over a year ago my wife's favorite Ash tree toppled onto the house in a snowstorm. When we cleaned it up I was able to save two of the logs and neighbor with a bandsaw mill cut some boards out of them for me. This project was build from the first one of those boards that I pulled off of the stack. Ash is a lovely wood to build with and in it's own way very pretty. My wife is happy with the Mother's Day gift...but would definitely rather have the tree back. Thanks for watching...if you enjoy these videos...please...like, subscribe...and most importantly...share! Thank you!

Great work, Stan! Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there!
Thank you, David!
Beautiful tray
Thank you, my friend
When a tree has finally given up and fallen your house, it has to be a message from above, especially if your wife had an attraction to it 😊 Stan, I love the idea of using the tree to create loving memories of a fantastic living monument and I hope you make many many more gifts from it 😊 Blessings ॐ
Thank you, my friend...that tree was special to us and I’m glad that we were able to keep some of it for projects that will always mean something to us.
You are such a sweet and kind husband to make her something for Mother’s day! I love ash wood too!
Thank you so much! I haven't really worked a lot with Ash wood...but I sure am glad I saved some of this...I really like it.
A very special tray indeed! Beautiful work, and love that it came from a tree on the property.
Thanks so much...kind of a fun backstory to it.
Hello my friend.
A beautiful timber from the stumps of the tree that fell down with a snowstorm. A great gift for your wife's mothers day. A beautiful wooden tray design. You did a great job again. Your partner definitely liked this wonderful gift. Congratulations. Thank you for sharing. Happy Mother's Day all mothers. Great greetings. Best regards...
Thank you so much, my friend...it was fun to transform what was once a tree in our backyard to a piece we use everyday.
@@StanCrafted You evaluated the tree well. See you. stay healthy and happy. great greetings.
I love that you repurposed that tree! My favorite tree on our property fell a couple years ago and now it’s serving as my anvil stand.
Thanks so much! Pretty cool you used a tree from your place as an anvil stand...has a story to it you see every time you use it.
It's a bummer about losing the tree, but how cool that you were able to salvage the lumber to make projects like this! I love when there's more history to a piece than just lumber that came from the store. Awesome craftsmanship too!
Thank you, Brent...yeah...all in all we'd rather have the tree...but, we don't choose these things...we just get to choose what to do with them!
Perfect timing 😆
Yep...I was cutting it close...might’ve pushed it just a bit with the wood...but, I think it was just dry enough to be stable.
Such a thoughtful gift!! Really nice
Thank you so much!
Thanks for taking us through the whole process man...came out great!!!
Thanks so much...not often I get to take something from tree to finished product...was fun
Okay, I enjoy the serving tray as it is but the story behind it is truly touching! Would have loved to see what your wife thought of it!
Thank you, Richard...she is pretty pleased with it...and if Mama’s happy...everyone’s happy!
That’s was awesome, to know where the wood came from is great. Nice gift and well crafted Stan, happy Mother’s Day to your wife...
Cheers!
Thank you, Harki...it is fun to make something from a tree you once knew...I've got a few more boards of it...trying to think of something else it would be fun to make. Send my best to your wife as well.
Thats cool i love that
Thanks, Grumpy...I appreciate you dropping by!
Hi my friend. I hope you're fine. You are a very good master. I've been doing this once more. You made a very nice serving tray. It is full of technical details. It's very instructive. I am learning from you. Thank you very much for that. Stay healthy.👋👋👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much, my friend. I was inspired by the tray you made recently from pallet wood as I made this. I learned a lot from you as well. It is very nice we can share ideas through these videos. Take care of yourself and your precious family. 😊
I am very glad to know you. Live healthy in you and your family, master. It's really nice to be able to share ideas.
As usual Stan, a beautiful job and an excellent vid. A homemade, handmade piece of daily-use furniture with a story connected to it. Just perfect. Good job mate.
Thank you, Mark...you are too kind. I think I like the most that there is a story behind it...a bit of a tragic tale...but a story nonetheless.
Love the lines of the tray Stan.
Thank you, Shaun! I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out.
Now I have to wait until next year to make one.... jeez! lol thanks
Haha...there’s always Christmas! 😊
Served up some awesome sauce with this one.
Thank you so much!
Aw sad to hear the ash tree fell down in a snowstorm BUT... you did something so nice with it. Really well done, looks great! 😃
Thank you, Kirstie...I am glad that we took the time to cut the wood into boards instead of just firewood...I think I'll get a couple of nice projects from it.
That tree fell ONTO your house?? Wow, it was a beast, I hope it didn't damage anything! That's a great tray made even better by the story associated with it! Awesome work as always mate 👍
Yep...I didn’t get any video, but that first still pic shows two of the branches that fell onto the corner of the house. It didn’t do any damage luckily...but, enough of the tree came down that we had to cut the rest.
Great serving tray buddy!! 💪
Thank you, my friend!
my wife would love this
I’ve seen your work...I’m sure you could do better than this for her...give it a go!
@@StanCrafted thank you for such a kind comment... I may have to borrow your idea with the handles though very unique!
@@BusyBeeLiving My favorite thing about RUclips makers is that they all share their ideas so freely...borrow away!
StanCrafted when I make this I’ll be sure to give you credit for the ideas!
Well done Stan! 👍
Thank you kindly 😊
I like those handles, nice dark accent there.
Thanks, Mike...I think it gives it a nice touch.
الله علي الجمال روعه ماشاء الله بالتوفيق والنجاح
Thank you!
Well done here my man!🤙🏻Love the design of those handles
Thanks so much, I appreciate you dropping by!
Well done and it's a cool story behind the piece (even though I'm guessing you'd rather have not had it fall on your house)
Thanks, Grant...you are correct...we would definitely rather have the tree...but I am glad I was able to save some of the wood.
That came out great👏👍 I like the added touch of what I'm assuming is leather wrap for the handle to👍
Thank you! Yep...that’s a leather wrap on the handles 👍🏼
Beautiful job, looks amazing.
Liked and subscribed.

Very nice work, Lovely video 👍
Thank you, Sparky...my Mrs. is happy with it...so I’ll take that as a win 😊
Sounds like it to me. 👍👍👍
Hi Stan, As always perfect joints that make a beautiful tray which I'm sure your wife loves. Do you have a video on making the box joint jig? Take care Stan. Cheers, Huw
Thank you, Huw...she is happy with it. I do have a couple videos on the jig...I'll link them here

@@StanCrafted Hi Stan, I don't know how I missed these. Thanks. Huw
You are welcome, Huw!
very nice. I like that leather (am I right?) touch. I see a lot in Mike Pekovich's work. i sthere a tutorial you followed to put them on?
Thank you, Alberto...is that is a leather wrapped handle. I learned how to do that years ago from an old golf pro when whipping the old wooden headed drivers. I could do a tutorial video if you'd like...it's pretty simple to do once you get the hang of it.
@@StanCrafted well, to me it's interesting. i've always wanted to learn that technique to add to some furniture
I will do a video in the next couple of days and post it up for you
