Yah, seems like everyone knows God's thoughts and decisions better than him if he even exists in that sense
This question of living with or without (explicit) purpose is essentially looking only at the "trees" and not seeing the "forest", because fundamentally and functionally setting up your life to live without purpose its a purpose in itself.
Purposlessness
Everything comes at the right time, like this video in my feed. For quite a while I have stopped using the word "hiking". I am just walking. Walking slowly, looking at everything, and the ground to avoid trampling bugs, and such. It has become a game to see how close I can get to Nature without Nature retreating. Moving slowly, Nature doesn't run away. Lately it has been Bird Grasshoppers, as big as a finger. They are very wary, but I can move slowly, right by them and they don't fly away. No ambition, no purpose is the way. Life is a game.
Had this experience with a dragonfly recently. I got like 2in from it and just stared at it in the eyes and it didn't even care. usually dragonflys will fly off if you get near them. I tried to touch it and it flew to a different limb but it was a fascinating experience
It's not true that nature doesn't run! Of course it does! But it oscillates between running/exertion and resting/recovering. And only when we learn to oscillate like that we are truly healthy and happy!
I'm saying that because years ago I got a pretty serious diagnosis and almost killed myself by stopping running and taking away too much ill-understood care of myself.
Balance is not a point. It's the pendulum swinging!

I love that was young before the cell phone. All this stuff I have done and there is. Nothing like sitting in nature watching and listening. These are the times when you feel alive.

As soon as you define God's Purpose, it is no longer His Purpose, but your own. True purposelessness is not following your own purposes, but following the Purpose of Nature, following the Purpose of the Tao, following God's Purpose.
Allen Watts was not talking about god's purpose. Rather, he's referencing a pure lack of purpose. That's the god form (or rather the avatar).
It's a joke. It doesn't exist.
We are it.
This universe is it.

I can tell you this: Life is purposeless...until you decide you give it a meaning.
In order to give it a meaning you have to understand "enjoying" and "suffering" first.
Alan Watts did not find it....and YOU?

I find life is rather more meaningful when lived without purpose. In fact, this is the most alive we have ever felt, and we truly are without purpose.
We have a routine, we learn, we research, and we try to plot a course as this world undergoes rapid, sudden changes.
This would be the greatest time to embrace purposelessness. One may adapt the approach more easily on the fly.
Focus on the essentials: food, water, shelter, and revenue. Discuss alternatives and real-life events that will affect us in the future.
I find that purpose is what makes the world such a chaotic mess. Without committing to purpose, flocks and herds flow when predators approach.
Be like water. Water has no purpose in and of itself.
Ironically, water stores a great wealth of information in light imprints.

Consequence: a societal collapse, we have a birthgap and society as we know it will die.
Western society is already doomed if you check the demographic numbers.

I find it rather silly to think that the whole universe is created for any reason. If you think nature is worthless, than you and i are worthless, other species are worthless, planets are worthless.... I don't want to live this way.
