I was looking at Staccatos, but I bought a Springfield Prodigy 5" on a whim/impulse a few months ago because it was way below msrp at 1200+tax at a local dealer. I was a little worried given the certain section of youtube gun-tubers that seem to always have issues with new guns but figure what the heck, whats the worst that could happen. I put a little under 1k rounds through it the next two days after purchase (using the 17 & 20 round mags it came with, and two 26 rounders I bought at the same time) without a single failure. Ran like a top. I then put another ~300 and called it good. I then spent ~350$ on an EGW "ignition kit" (hammer, sear, main spring, sear spring, disconnector,) EGW magwell, Atlas trigger bow & shoe, EGW safety, and a dawson one piece guide rod. What was already a great pistol, is now a fantastic one - and I have ~$1600 in it so I don't care if I beat it up a bit or abuse it like I would if I had spent 2500+ on something "fancier." Still will probably buy a Staccato, Platypus, or the new Bul though... Lol.

@@sgsheff I am glad I got the 5" model. I am not ever going to carry this pistol, so I don't mind the longer barrel. I was laughing the other day as I was making consistent hits @ 100 yards with it at the range on a 18" steel target and had about a 30% hit rate at 200.
@@theangrymarmot8336 yeah I don't think most people buying it are doing it to carry. That sounds great. How good is the stock trigger?
@@sgsheff I would give it a 7.5/10. It was good, but not great. It felt a smidge lighter but about the same as the trigger in my Kimber KHX custom. Hence why I went with the EGW parts in mine.

I run that exact M&P AND TTI Baseplates except I get +6 with 9mm so I get 23!!! It’s a great gun. Especially with an SRO. I did put a Timney Alpha Trigger in it however!! Great to see Smith get some love!!!
Definitely "if i ever win the lottery" level guns. I'll just keep going to the gunsout range day and shoot cool stuff with yall in the meantime.
You don't need a race gun to get out there and start burning down your local IDPA or USPSA stages. In fact I see more bone stock Glocks in IDPA than anything else. If you've never done anything like that you will quickly realize how much of a different animal it is dynamic shooting vs static at the lanes. I highly recommend that everyone at least give it a try, especially if you carry a gun daily. Moving, shooting, and (importantly) thinking at the same time is nothing like going to the lanes.
Jerry Miculek would argue, any gun is a race gun in the right hands.

Glock 45 with Radian Ramjet/Afterburner comp and a Glock performance trigger. Surprisingly amazing.
Not that surprising 😂. I’d say that’s the first 9mm Glock, other than including a TLR1HL or X300 on there as well 👍🏻

We love our Shadow 2's and TS2's here in Europe, US not so much apparently.
@@gl0tchdji have no idea why they didnt showcase 1 CZ. I run CZ and probably 1/3 of the competition run them, next to 2011’s, glock, and sig.

For the outstanding price, I would go for an infiniti or Atlas than the Sand Viper. I had a bad experience ordering a TR9 (originally a 5 week wait Aug 15th and canceled it April 15th). I also learned Foxtrot Mike makes a lot of the pieces on that rifle like how staccato makes most of the Sand Viper. 7 stacks and a polymer grip is insane to me
Staccato is the bucket list pistol for me. But if you just want to compete and don't have the money to spend right away on a tricked out pistol, my suggestion would be a Canik TP9SFx, which has an amazing trigger and is vey accurate.

I got a Canik Rival and it’s a fast and fun gun!!!
It's a fine piece of equipment. I own an Atlas and don't think it offers much more than the stacatto, but I really like the full length dust cover and metal grip. My stacatto P is 20,000 rounds strong on stock internals at the moment
CZ P09/07 would be a better option for a similar price as the Turkish blaster

Yeah…. I’ll say that I replaced my Shadow 2 with a Staccato P. But I miss the shadow. Should have just added the staccato.

If coated barrels do increase velocity, then that would also increase power factor for a given load obviously tested chronograph.
If power factor is increased and You’re trying to stay within minimum then it could be argued that they slightly hinder performance.
Obviously this is overanalyzing but for actual GM guys that might matter
Barrel coatings do NOT increase velocity.
I don't shoot enough to spend big $$ on a pistol. I understand a competitor buying one, but the common Joe it's kind of a dead expense. I don't get enough time to shoot what I have. Love watching the race guns but I'll have to stick to old 92s, and 229s. Enjoyed the video 👍👍
I would say one of the best budget friendly out of the box race guns has to be Canik's Rival series.

I don't have much experience with my pistols, but I've got a decent pistol collection and I'd say the most fun thing I've used is an 8 shot 357 magnum... but I use 38 specials in it. That's fun.

Atlas gunworks, infinity, phoenix trinity, masterpiece 2011s arr all better than the taran 2011s, ive shot all of them, irons and optics, personally for me best 2011 race gun either has to be Atlas or infinity

Does Timney triggers make any other Glock triggers than the one that has a drop-down sear? I don't think so... but I guess there could be. The one I know of not just a regular polished/coated/modified Glock trigger. It's more like a P320, P365 style system than it is compared to a Glock trigger system.
I personally love the Johnny Glock competition trigger . Out of all the aftermarket triggers , it is absolutely the best trigger I’ve ever ran on a Glock .

I still do not get why Americans always overlook CZ. Not a single pistol from the Shadow 2 universe including the Orange, TS, TS2, Czechmate. They are the most used pistol models here in European IPSC, and for good reason

Americans generally don't. It's hard to find a metal framed CZ in stock most of the time. Anyone that shoots matches knows about the CZ master race. But a lot of "muh glawk" type causals probably don't know them past the name or what a 75 or P10 looks like.

Your right. I was shooting CZ in matches two decades ago. After seeing one competitor with one I was sold on them. They were so damn smooth, fast and flat.

Might as well rename this top 5 list to a top 5 Staccato pistol list considering that 3 Of the pistols on this list were Staccato variants.
The title said this was a list of the top five race guns, the list says it’s a commercial for staccato.

Stacatto’s are far from race guns.
double stack 9mm 1911 guns that are real race guns would be more like, Atlas, MPA, and SVI Infinity.
I have a staccato C2 and they don’t have a “tool-less” guide rod. That being said you ABSOLUTELY DONT NEED the tool. Haven’t a clue why they even say it’s needed.

Buy a Shadow 1 or 2, leave it alone gun is fine, compete in PROD/SSP/... and spend the money you save on ammo und coaching. No fancy gun will ever unsuck you.

Yeah I plan to eventually send my Glock 45 9mm to Taran Tactical to get the combat master package done to it.
accuracy is when the barrel is tight to the slide.. (and the red dot is tight to the slide).....
a bit of slop to the frame means nothing..
Weight at the bottom of the pistol increases muzzle flip... weight on the frame, at the same waterline as the rails will inhibit muzzle flip....

Well Eric I liked the video but I disagree with Sherm about the Holosun I personally love them as far as the reticles go you can choose what not only what you like but what works for your eyes I enjoy the window size opposed to the RMR the durability is also great and its cheaper...😎

I use a CZ shadow 2 and it is a good competition gun.
I just bought one and glad to see so many people here that own them. Q: One gripe I have with it is that when I take off the trigger it doesn't have a definitive click and its kinda mushy. I own beretta 92 and Colt Competition which have super audible and tactile clicks but this one kida just melts on and off. Any of you experience this?
